I think with the new properties of the crusher unless they do it deep sometimes you can’t punish it at all if you dont have ultra. If they do it from a little bit far out you might get a sweep, but most often then not they get out scot-free.
Last time i checked i couldn’t punish a point blank ex pc with ultra…you csn punish it with ultra only from the right distance…it’s 100% safe from point blank.
Of course the non ex version can be raped point blank but no one is ever gonna do that one on wakeup
Option select HP srk.
Also - when you have ultra you can safe jump and reversal U1 him(yes it needs to be a reversal). You have to land at sweep range to be able to hit him with it tho…
how do you guys keep dictator in the vortex?
dictator can EX PC and EX scissors beat dive kicks, palm with EX srk or demon option select will whiff against EX HS, and last but not least he can teleport.
I take part of what I said back. Point blank is safe from Ultra, but not from super. Every crusher that goes through you is punishable with super. Ultra can be used if you are spaced so your c.LK whiffs.
option selects. Option select a safe jump correctly enough times and the bison should start to just block at which point you can start actually landing cross-tatsu and demon flip throws. Make sure you know when he has ultra as well because both of them do a number on some of akuma’s option selects. Problem is that option selects take a lot of extra inputs and effort and when ppl play online for a few hours it can get tiring to enter a lot of extra “what if” inputs… though its always good practice. Its just a matter of guessing correctly… noting that the FIRST option of a good bison playing against akuma is to block, the second is to EX PC. Which means option selecting a srk is going to be your most used option most likely. I also like to use cross tatsu because, minus ultra, best outcome is another knockdown, worst is that you did a little chip and kept pressure or that he used 1 bar to EX PC out so that maybe next time he won’t have the meter to do anything.
also as to be noted is that, while its completely preference, I like to use palm most of the time against bison because i like the chip damage it gives if they blocked and they aren’t going to be accidentally blocking the wrong way for a j.hk to land unless you’ve been hitting them with a lot of ambiguous cross tatsu at which point they will probably be using an EX move to try and get out.
as for dive kick… just… don’t. Unless you are trying to bait something with a safejump command divekick. Speaking of which… wish most akumas would start working c.lp, s.hp consistently into their game off divekicks… it was nice to see how often tokido was doing it.
What can you punish Juri’s short pinwheel with?
Her LK pinwheel is rather safe. Best I have punished with is the super demon. Her MK and HK ones are easily punished. Her EX version can be a little harder to punish because it pushes you so far out. Though I believe it is still Ultra punishable.
You can punish Juri’s LK pinwheel with any version of Akuma’s shoryuken or start a combo with a jab if she is close after the pinwheel is blocked and to Sol you would be #3 with me being on top, Tokido has nothing on me.
i just played against you online with sagat, haha my sagat is so scrubby… im trying to learn a lot of the characters, so that’s why i was using him
LoyalSol/Ink - thanks for the tips, i’ll try them out when I get the chance.
thanks for the tipps gator.
but aren’t option selects against bison sort of… risky? i mean, if you do palm/EX SRK or palm/sweep, it will completely whiff against teleport (and EX stomp i think).
the teleport could be catched with palm/demon, but thats still a 50/50, depending on the direction of bisons port.
what’s the strat in dealing against rog? his pokes are insane, his aa is rather solid and he’s a tank that i just can’t figure out the matchup by far my worst matchup
they can be rather risky, yes, but the point is to make the opponent stop doing moves on wake-up (and if you set them up to teleport all the time then you can land an ultra even easier). You don’t want to Option Select EVERY time, but knowing your opponent’s tendencies is key to keeping bison in the vortex. Most people use the same move 90% of the time to get out depending on how much meter, their location relative to the corner, if they have ultra, etc… quickly understanding these will make it so you’ll guess the correct option select more often than not. As I said, the most viable OS is usually going to be SRK against bison though because the most used get outs are EX PC, backdash, and EX press. If your opponent is constantly teleporting thats better for you as you don’t even have to have good reflex a lot of the time to punish it on reaction if you just safe jumped.
and if you want to talk about GOD like reflexes… The best option select against bison is to os sweep and then demon on semi-reaction during the sweep…lol.
Short and simple; Focus everything that can be focused. What can’t, s.HK it before it hits you.
About the Cody Matchup: It’s possible for him to nail Akuma with U2 if he throws an air fireball, so you should probably watch out for that.
Added. Ty. Guys with all this option select talk should i add option select stuff to the main page? i need some opinions.
I think it’d be worthwhile to add some simple OS strategy in there. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what set-ups work character specifically. (For example, wake-up OS on Bison) Some stuff like cr.MK / SRK OS with Balrog’s charge punches, etc can really frustrate the opponent and I feel like there should be more OS stuff being shared since everyone can look at how the pro’s are inputting things nowadays.
Eh if you see a nice flashy Rog then grab him or c.MK OS SRK.
How is Guile’s cr.HK best punished? Shoryuken/sweep/cr.MK/other?
