everyone can lose once in a while…tokido was probably just relentlessy attacking like he was fighting a makoto, and that’s not the way to go vs t-hawk…in a tournament setting, where tokido REALLY wants to win and plays at his fullest potential (no online bs) i’d never bet against him in the t-hawk matchup.
Just go in the fucking t-hawk forums and ask what hawk’s WORST matchups are. Akuma is one of them. It’s not like hawk cannot win at all, but he’s at a pretty severe disadvantage
Agreed. Condor dive is easy punish or super/ultra. Also, from my THAwk battle experiences, DF palm pretty much owns THawk for vortex/mixup opportunities. If played patiently and zoned properly, like Gief, Akuma owns THawk. :nunchuck:
why do you say that? I’m still a little uncomfortable with the match, obviously it’s a little awkward with his wake up speed, mixups aren’t as effective. I believe if you mk flip after a sweep, and delay kick, if he DPs it’ll whiff. But he can still get up and dash under that. Idk… like i said, I still need to learn adon alot. Another thing, u2 is too beautiful in that match, teleport back xx u2 for any jaguar kick pressure
It´s just because of my terrible experience with this matchup. I still have to learn how to pressure Adon properly, since his wake up speed pretty much makes it impossible for me to vortex him.
But don´t take that too seriously, I play a scrubby Akuma.
I am getting more and more comfortable with the Adon matches. Against Adon’s wakeup jaguar kick/knee (DP), I/you can simply bait it for punish or grab once they stop mashing it. I also neutral jump (yeah harder against Adon but do-able) and depending on opponent either DP if they try anything, like jaguar kick/knee, or grab if they do nothing. Risky but helps to mixup your attack - mind games.
My biggest problems are still Balrog, Bison, and Chun. I just hate playing waiting (turtlers) games cause I get impatient eventually and pay for it via KOs.

And Dics standing HK catches our HK, too (or it trades). You can use the fadc you mentioned.
Also try walking in and out to hit him with c.mk or with fs.HK while he recovers from a whiffed HK.
Then he’ll get more careful and doesn’t just spam MK/HK when he comes into that range. So you opened up the opportunity to get a c.mk in more often.
BUT if you hit him from maximum range with c.MK a following cancelled fireball isn’t save to connect to a combo. He can SK and Ultra you through it.
Try a c.mk cancel into demonflip and get creative (kick, palm, throw). He lost his down-charge so his anti air is pretty weak at this moment. Vary the ranges of the demonflips or he will adapt quickly and simply walk under your df to throw you or punish you with his nasty HK again.
It’s difficult to win on the footsies battle against Bison. You’d better stay out of his slide range. Casually throw some sweeps on him, he can’t punish it on max range. His cr. MK will win against your st. HK for free. It’s possible to focus through it but I don’t recommend, since Akuma’s Focus project him backwards, you’ll probably stay out of range maybe except for a cr. LK/cr. MP. It’s still better to work on the vortex on him, his reversals are lame.
I understand this isn’t exactly for high level play but w/e someone might find it useful. There is a way to both lose and win against U2 with Akuma’s U1.
The scenario was thus, I led in with st.HK as Abel activated U2. Seeing this, I immediately canceled into U1. The Abel player had not released KKK yet and thus Abel was still stationary and apparently throw invulnerable and I got Breathless’d
BUT I played this person later on and he tried getting me the same way, only this time he just activated and never held down KKK. So this time when I canceled into U1 he didn’t have throw invincibility and thus the Raging Demon caught him.
I’ve had situations where i just cancelled whatever normal i was doing against an U2 sometimes worked, and sometimes it didnt. I think you have to delay the demon just a bit. Maybe to get the timing down press jab jab and then an extra jab, , back+LK+HP.
it’s 'ruff for juri…like what can she do vs df palm OS sweep on wakeup? NOTHING. Once she understands that, use df throw or other mixups. She’s pretty free, altough she can zone you quite well if she’s good
Y’know… I’ve tried this, and maybe my timing’s off, but her EX pinwheel kick always tags me when I go for it. I try to use the Exploding heart technique’s timing (throw, dash-dash, cancel into MK DF palm = stuffed by EX pinwheel) and I can never seem to land anything on her once she has meter.
Are you option selecting the palm or not? Because I’m not sure what will be the results if you’re option selecting a sweep since Juri’s EX pinwheel is a slow reversal (has like 13 startup frames or something IIRC), but forward throw x 2 dashes into immediate MK DF palm should be able to safejump it easily since the reversal is very slow.
EDIT: I’m trying to find some accurate frame data on her ex reversal but can’t find any, eventhubs says it has 13-15 frames startup depending on which buttons you use for the EX (lk + mk or mk + hk) and says it’s +5/+7 on block lol, that can’t be true since last time I checked her EX reversal is easily punishable on block.
On SRK’s wiki frame data, if Senpusha EX means EX pinwheel, it has 7 frames startup and is -13 on block, which sounds about right and it ain’t that slow which explains why you’ve lost to it a few times, but it still should be pretty easily safejumped with forward x 2 dashes into immediate MK DF palm since the reversal is only as fast as Viper’s HP thunder knuckle. If Senpusha EX is indeed EX Pinwheel, eventhubs probably mixed up the data between Juri’s ex fireballs and pinwheels.

Best options to vortex Ken? Seems that MP SRK beats everything I got and LP SRK strings are mad annoying, especially when Kens use it as a crutch for footsies.
