can i link this video in the cammy match up spoiler to help out others? give you credit ofcourse :-).
So…I’m pretty new to Akuma, and while looking up a few match up infos I noticed that quite a lot of people talked about “fs.HK pressure”, but no one compiled a list of who can and cannot duck the second hit of fs.HK; therefore since I wanted to know (and also wanted to try out google docs!) I made a list.
During my test some characters (like bison and cody) could duck the second hit if the fs.HK was done quite far from them even if their “size” would make you think otherwise, therefore they are labeled in blue.
While I was at that, I added a column for tatsu>sweep as well (btw the OP is missing tatsu>sweep for Dudley).
I’m not too sure if this could be seen as valuable informations but whatever.
its so weird cause i remember updating it i will get on it. anyways can i link that spreadsheet to the OP. giving u credit ofcourse.
Yes of course~
Akuma doesn’t lose to most of those characters. I agree with Bison, Honda and Cammy. The others are advantage Akuma or even. Lol @ Abel beating Akuma.
Honda and Cammy are even as well. Only Bison looks to have a real advantage and even that isn’t even certain.
Shin - where would you rank Akuma? I feel like he’s a total beast in the right hands, but for rookies like me he’s just a pain to learn.
I still believe he’s top tier. I think Cammy/Bison are his bad matchups but Bison’s probably still a 5-5 imo. Oh well, people won’t bitch at me anymore for my favourite character being top tier I guess.
Not agree for Ryu/Abel/Dictator/Hakan/Boxer/Rose
Ryu is 5/5, Ryu was already difficult to manage in vanilla, and even if Akuma can’t get combo if he baits shoryuken (easier to bait), Ryu can’t trade to ultra.Ryu does less damage than before too, his EX tatsu by example takes 150 damage for 200 in vanilla.Shoryu fadc Ultra takes less damage too.
Abel 4/6 ?? What?No more loop I’m ok, but still very weak against vortex and option select, still possible to jab into 2HK from very far.I think this match is 6/4 in Akuma’s favor.
Dictator, I really don’t think he has an advantage, I know he has some tools to get out from vortex, but with a smart use of option select it is possible to give him some troubles. His U2 is really nice but it doesn’t punish vortex.
Hakan:Akuma has clearly an advantage, the only tool than Hakan gets, is slide when he’s oiled to punish air fireball/fireball.Vortex is insane on him.
Boxer: very tough match if you’re not able to knock him down, but he’s really free on wake up game, option select are god like against that guy.DF palm/grab is the way to defeat him.Option select U2 on vortex is very nice, since if he makes the mistake to launch headbutt or backdash, he will be punished.Headbutt to ultra takes less damage than before.Still 5/5 IMO.
Rose is just boring when she gets Ultra 2, but not really difficult.
Blanka can be very tough matchup I really don’t know if 4/6 is justified.
Considering the huge difficulty against Cammy (4/6):
_she can punish fireball with spiral/hooligan
_punish Teleport with spiral or U1
_her shoryuken eradicate any vortex atempts (tatsu cr up/dive kick)
_safe jumps are very hard to perform
_U2 punish vortex
I can’t believe there is another 4/6 for Akuma, or Cammy is a 3/7 matchup in that case.
No problem. It’s an honor to make it in there lol
lol good one. alright thanks appreciate it.
Why are they even matches to you?
Zzz. Still screwing up matchups against decent players. I need help with knowing how to get in or approach characters like ryu or boxer. Sometimes i will get impatient when the match is at a standstill and will do a random df into a srk/headbutt. I also find ryu’s j.hk to be a pain because of the range. He can hit me by jumping over a fb from 3/4 screen.
Bait that by walking back a step or two when he’s in his “cheese” jump HK range. When you see him jump, take a step forward and cr.HP or SRK him out of the air. I did that a few times against some Ryu players I met online a few days back. Beat every one of them by making them jump at me when they thought they were in range, only to have me step into their jump arc and smack them out of the air. Most Ryu’s online WANT to jump at you. The can’t help it, they know the j.HK is godlike, but Akuma can deal with it. Don’t play FB war with Ryu (even though you could win) that just gives him fodder to jump over your projectiles and smack you with his foot from almost 3/4 screen away. Let him throw as many as he wants, just jump over or FA the rest, forcing him to come to you and play on your terms. Nothing frustrates a Ryu player more than you playing smart and slowly taking his game appart.
It doesn’t have to be pretty. You just gotta be the better shoto.
I would say Akuma is the best character but you must be virtually flawless with him.
I don’t really don’t understand why these matches are considered in favor of character X. I think it has to do with the fact that these characters (Bison, Honda, Cammy) force us to play Akuma differently. The thing is Akuma is all about adaptation. He is the king of adapting and has all the tools to deal with everything.
Honda - Honda is a tough match but only so far as to when you knock him down. Honda can be dive kicked on in a way that no headbutt will punish and you can punish any butt slam escape. Yes Honda deals big damage, but the key to making this match even is patience. The majority of Honda’s damage comes from exploiting mistakes made by the Akuma player. Patience reduces such mistakes. Chip from hands is not enough to tilt this match in his favor as Akuma makes up for it with chip from fireballs and demonflips.
Cammy - Ok, Cammy is not, I repeat NOT favored in this match. I do not understand how a character who’s primary form of pressure is a jump attack would be favored against a character with the games best DP. Cammy on the surface is a tough match because you can’t rely on the old stand by anti airs like ducking fierce and jump kick. However once you accept that you must learn to reaction DP her strikes and jump attacks the match goes from bad to even. Footsies are at least even or Akuma’s favor, so in that department her pressure isn’t advantageous. Both characters bleed, Cammy not as much, but considering Akuma’s damage output it is at least even in the “die from X combos” department. Akuma does not have to accept wake up pressure from Cammy. His superior DP and wake up options really limit her. Cammy on the other must accept pressure on her wake up from Akuma. She has a 5 frame reversal, so she can be safe jumped/Demon flipped in such a manner as it is unpunishable. So yes the match on the surface appears to be hard, but learn to DP those jumps and perfect your wake up pressure and it is an even match.
Bison - Well he is tough and he may have an advantage. The reason that I’m not quite sold is I consider the match to be even everywhere except the corner. When Bison gets you in the corner with his scissor pressure it becomes a guessing game. However it is also a guessing game for him as well, as you can DP your way out. I think he benefits a bit more from the guessing game so I concede it may be his favor but perhaps not quite 6/4.
Dear ShinAkuma204,
I zink you have ze wrong idea about ze cammy matchup. Oui, pour l’est le fleur. Comment ca’va?

impossible to dp cammy on reaction consistent enough to hurt her imo. Then you gonna be twitchy and dp on a bait and eat a lot of dmg.
Unlikely as one of North America’s best Cammy’s is from our local scene.
Food for thought, Dudley can stun Akuma faster with a couple of wrong guess’s. Should list that as 7/3 Duds favor…?
I’m curious, is there any character that doesn’t stun Akuma in 3 combos?
Part of being able to consistently DP jumps is to understand the spacing required. Cammy can’t hit you from a certain distance if she TKCS. So in a footsie war where she may CS or TKCS to get in you will be able to react accordingly based on the spacing.
If Daigo can DP Rufus short dive then being able to consistently DP Cammy’s jumps is very possible.
Didn’t see a question thread so…What is the input for the Palm Ultra option select? :wonder:
