I’m not a pro player, but from an intermediate-level player’s perspective, I actually think Gief is better in this game than in Super. Losing EXGH knockdown sucks, but I honestly think the increased SPD range more than makes up for it. I’m having more fun using him and that is really all I care about at the end of the day. Most of my friends who play Gief are also liking him more than before. I think his playstyle may have changed more drastically than any other character in the transition from Super to AE and people just need time to adjust. I will admit that I haven’t fought a Dhalsim or Sagat yet, but any true Gief player knows that he is always going to have a few really bad matchups and so that is just part of the territory.
I said the same thing a few pages back; I don’t know why anyone even pays attention to that idiot anymore. He’s a crybaby at best and a troll at worst. Either way, he’s not worth paying attention to…
This is how I feel, and I use a mixup game very similar to this off the new EXGH. Its not as good as the knockdown mixups but its much better than the naysayers here would make it out to be.
This thread is really sad. What the hell is the point of beeing agressive like that? But since im nowhere near as good as most you guys, im not even sure if im allowed to post my opinion here. You wonder why so few new people are posting here? Well, you have to look no further than this thread. I hope some of the more known players like Flash Metroit keep posting here, cause im interested what they have to say about AE gief. This is kindergarden here, really. A little bit respect wouldnt harm??
Myself likes AE gief. Im testing out a lot new things and think im improving my overall skills. Doing spds on reaction quicker than before, using the buffed lspd and hspd more. I just have fun playing around and getting a little bit better without having the ambition of becoming a tournament player.
It seems the argument may have finally ceased. Now Im curious if we can have a conversation about AE gief. First off, I was wondering what his options were after a gh on hit? Since it doesn’t knock down anymore he obviously loses a lot of stuff but he is still right next to them which is where gief wants to be, so off the top of my head(and from experience) he should be able to:
Beat a block with a grab
Beat a jump back with a cr. short into another gh combo(does this actually work?)
Backdash/Block to bait a dp
But do y’all know of any other options he has? Thats really all I can think of. Maybe toss in some neutral jump shenanigans in there every now and then but I doubt those will work very often against competent opponents. Also, other than off a jump in attack, does gief have any other ways to combo into his sweep? Shit is mad slow so I seriously doubt he has any links into it but maybe my execution just sucked.
i agree with focra it depends on the match, how much meter they have and have you trained them with something.
example vs guile
1.answer i think in guiles case you would train him to not jump away, via stmp after ex hand on hit then grab.
2.answer: crlk is good but stmp is better plus if you get a counter hit it’s like +5 on hit or 6 so you can do stlk ex and repeat the situation.
Hmmmm, makes sense, plus its an easier link for me tbh, I hate his cr. lk links. Oh and for anyone else who found the cr. lp, lk ex gh link difficult, I found a way that works pretty consistently for me, after trying out sswyu’s method(thanks but it didn’t really help) I decided to just stick to mine. jab x 3, 623 short, 2 punches. It is pretty darn consistent, only thing I gotta get the hang of now is just the actual link timing but that shouldn’t be too hard.
flashmetroid is GOD in you scrubs eyes??
LOL, anyway he is SCRUB asia player’s eye.
even some local arcade casual player plays gief better than his. LOL
anyway you idiots just stick with your noob level concept.
LOL
You are like fox news post half of the facts deal is I went and posted some wins and you were quick to discredited them as them playing scrubs or he was lucky bs I find it hilarious that you continue to bitch over a change that already happened instead of coming with counter measures to these characters that are deemed bad MU’s, FFS Honda who got nerfed just as bad has gotten wins via Mike Ross while moat here are sulking over the past.
Again have you played AE and if so have you even played any worthy opponents to come up with all this shit or are you just going to say well top player this. Also lol @ listening to
commentators who gives a flying fuck about them apparently you do for whatever reason if it gets more dedicated Gief players in some weird way let them be.
honda get nerfed as bad??
some netrual jump fp damage nerf and some other minor damage nerf, he should not have vanilla damage in super anyway
lp headbutt… he should use ex headbutt anyway.
u2 nerf, you joking? that dash in speed and a 0-frame ultra??
Any high level hondas using U2 right now. Also all the nerfs he got have giving a harder rime against the twins and Fei, nice to see you not even respond to rest of my post good job.
I kind of think I look at the twins as reverse Yang is going to be harder in the long run IMO, mostly because his ex command grab is faster and throw invincible (Yun’s too but his is slower) and he will almost always have meter to get to safety off safe slashes. Just curious why you think Yun will be more problematic? I guess I just don’t have enough twin exp yet to form a solid opinion either way.
Also, Gief forums looking mad dumb right now; props to people who play the game and try to better our character and not shit talk each other.
Are the other character forums this hilarious and juvenile? I always get a good laugh now visiting this forum sadly. Some stuff said here I agree with and some I find just ludicrous but the immaturity is pretty pathetic. Btw, I think Hondas u2 is now a 2 frame startup but don’t quote me on that.
Yangs normals are bad vs gief my footsies kill him right now I’d like to play floes yang because I have yet to run into a yang I can’t push around. He needs to get so close to do anything
