SSF4 AE Vega Changes

Vega feels great, footsies are a bit different now though and izunas feel much more viable. Can’t say he’s better, can’t say he’s worse.

How about different?

Besides the twins, what are your guys opinion on Vegas worst matchup now in AE? Who gives you the most trouble even with the new buffs/nerfs?

Yun and Yang don’t seem too difficult from my experience.

Hold on about to play the top ranked yang lol

Edit: lost but it isn’t unwinnable, better than the cammy matchup in super IMO

Yun/Yang not difficult? Give people some time to figure them out. Most people I’ve faced online suck with them but the few that were utilizing all his moves destroyed me. It’s like fighting a Seth that doesn’t have shit for health. Trying to deal with amazing footsies, dive kicks AND command throws is extremely frustrating.

I’ve only fought one decent Yang, and no good Yuns. The Yang player I fought fucking DESTROYED me. Obviously most of it was me not knowing shit about the matchup, but I think it’s safe to assume it’s heavily in Yangs favor.

I’m mad about the Rufus Ex Messiah nerf. It was pretty unnecessary considering the damage was fine the way it was.

So, in super my auto correct ultra would always glitch when I was activating it in the corner when they were trying to cross up.

Today, in AE, an oni player tried to cross me up so I said fuck it and tried it, and it WORKED! Did anyone else have that issue in super?

not in my experience. Context, bro.

I agree though, although I don’t expect twin players to be the only ones developing their character’s game. wink wink

@shogun : interesting…

That’s my point. Your ‘context’ consists of fighting people who have played their characters for barely 3 days, and you haven’t run into anyone solid yet. I’m not the best Vega but I think I’m pretty solid, and sure I ran into plenty of Yuns who clearly weren’t comfortable with the character yet, but I also ran into several that had a pretty good feel, used most of their moves correctly and just sat on me. The offensive pressure is nuts and I only dread what it’s gonna be like once more people figure them out. Developing your game is great but it’s not gonna give you any more options against them, maybe a few tricks at best. But by all means if you know something I don’t share your knowledge. I’ll take whatever edge I can get against them.

Only once or twice. I’m pretty sure it’s not a glitch though, just how you time it. If you finish the input as they pass over your head, chances are you’re going back towards the corner.

Totally agree. What can I say? I’m a total optimist.

yun pressure is fucking terrible in AE but vega still has a chance. its not nearly as one sided as i originally thought. Early tip i found out after a few matches is that if they get predictable with their dive kicks you can jump and air grab them for free. The only real problem about the yun matchup is the ex dash punch of his, fei long is more or less the same so no worries, yang is alot easier than yun.

Can someoen tell me the changes they made to RCF not the ex version but the other three, all i remember is that they gave Medium RCF more block stun which means more traps etc, correct me if im wrong on this but what else did they change about rcf

Honestly, my thoughts? While he doesn’t feel like…as he did in Super. I’m not finding the changes anything too hard. To be honest, I’m in love with his crMK. It was already one of my favourite, if not, my favourite footsie tool (Unless you’re T.Hawk XD), I used to space CH pretty max range anyway so I haven’t run into many hiccups (also due to me being more favourable to abusing crMK than CH now so I’m using CH less).

It seems with RCF, that they changed the damage on H.Roll. I couldn’t be sure though, I’ll have to switch my PS3 on later and make a comparison.

The Twins are like…annoying. But I’m actually finding older characters buffs far more frustrating (for example, Sakura feels a lot harder and Cody’s crLK makes me want to choke a bitch).

  • 4 on block is pretty retarded, imo. Cr.MK may be great, but it’s just another normal and is probably not to be compared with something as gamechanging (footsie-wise) as a hopkick. Not being able to use df.HK in close range footsies really hurts. It combos into lots of damage and leads into KD/Okizeme setups. So bleh : /
Cr.MK, cr.MP xx EX Walldive (charge tricked, of course) would be a nice idea to compensate for that. Does it still work in AE? Anyone try that out?

Cr.mk, cr.mp xx exfba seemed to work just as it did in super but I didn’t do any timed test or anything just in-match. Also: I didn’t get my poorly spaced CHs punished as much as I thought I would. Could just be online scrubs but the people I played weren’t all slouches lol I found myself using his kkk a lot after blocked CHs. Plus izunas feel so much more viable. I CH>ST’d and followed with a regular fba while they were coming down and pushed them to the corner before they’d hit the ground and set up some really nice vortex situations.

I’ve said plenty of times I think Vega is worse than Super in this game, but the character has really grown on me ever since I picked him up in August. With these things said I have to say that I like Vega in this game too.

And I didn’t record because I’m freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Can anyone tell with how much stun does the new combo?..and also can anyone try to finish it with the claw strike and ex ST…how much damage and stun does?..i know because of scaling it probably does around 10 or 20 more damage or so…but it must do more stun…also acording to the guile forum the range on vega’s air grab is 1.2 and comes out in 3 frames…guile’s is 1.07 and comes out in 4 frames…vega has hands down the best air grab in the game…i don’t know where did they get this or what was the range in super but this should help to confirm if it was a buff on air grab…

guile has a range of 1.25 and a start up of three frames, he’s still got the best air grab in game, he beats vega by a .05 range difference

Yun/Yang aren’t all the bad as long as you don’t stand in one spot for too long. I’ve been able to air throw their dive kicks on reaction most of the time.

favorite…
no “u” required.

correction… guy has the best air grab in the game

if you space yourself properly the twins dive kicks become their weakness. a LOTTA shit beats it straight up… hell even ST has been pretty reliabe at beating them
