Disagree. I thought he would be before AE came out but having a new combo is nice (and pretty easy to land with some practice if you’re plinking), CH nerf isn’t a big deal if you’re using it right, and cr.mk was already good for footsies and only got better.
Far from worse, he didnt get nerf by anything as significant, minus ten or twenty is really a nerf, if anything he’s been buffed seeing as generally all his bad match ups got nerfed except for chun, she wasnt really touched i think
really? Think long term. That 10 damage equates to an extra 1-2 cr.mp to finish the match versus somebody against the likes of Abel/Makoto/Viper, or more importantly during a footsie match. I don’t think you really understand the implications of Vega’s buffs and nerfs if you consider doing 10 less damage not an issue.
^Agreed. I’m really, really feeling those damage nerfs. He’s definitely worse off just based on that alone. I’d rather have an extra 20 damage on my BnB than an extra 50 (at the cost of one bar) for a once in a blue moon style combo. Even slide is weaker.
Cr mk is very very good but its not worth the nerfs.
The EX FBA damage nerf addresses the up-way knee hit. It’s now 30 instead of 50. The throw (150) and the double claw strike (50/90) remain the same.
Has been mentined befoe? Anyway some more new bad news: the backthrow safe jump set-up loses clean to yuns EX version Dragon Punch move (f,d,df+KK). On all other versions it’s safe though…
In my opinion, I think Vega did get nerfed, but I also think hes better in this game by default, just because of the change of general play style from defensive to offensive. That and due to other characters nerfs, which some were much more severe than his, he just seems better in my opinion, by default.
I’m skeptical. I think Vega is overall worse off, even if it is ever so slightly. I am looking forward to abusing c.mk, however.

I just spent the last 20 mins in training mode with CPU Yun on hardest trying to get him to EX.DP the backthrow safe jump with MP but that bastard wouldn’t lol. He did try to EX.DP backthrow into j.MK, Vega just went under it when he landed. ST setup into safe jumps are a bit more tricky-ier. Hopefully I can get a chance to try today at CEO, but I think it’s all CapCom 3 today.
As far as if he’s better or worse…he’s a weaker character than Super but in the tier listings I don’t think he’s changed at all. Smackdab in the middle.
Is anyone else under the impression that his air throw got a buff? The range seems to be a whole lot better. I was getting pretty good with his air throw as anti air in Super but now i am beating stuff that i never beat with it. Ryu’s jumping HK at a decent distance still air throwing it; i’m almost porting slightly to them with it now. I’m almost positive it got a buff can anyone confirm or tell me i’m high or something :). Also i don’t think you guys realize how nice that izuna buff is; Sagats fear it as a legit strategy; all you need is one correct pluck and you put him in a complete guessing game everytime corner or no corner. (also FA morons who like to absorb them are so easy to troll now :))
I haven’t played AE yet. How noticeable is the izuna buff? It seems like it may just be in some people’s imagination. That thing had one active frame and quite a small range. It wan’t given an additional active frame, or you would be hitting it twice as much… so more likely, it is completely unchanged, or the throw range was increased ever-so-slightly… but from the mixed reports I’m reading in these forums… I’m wondering if it could just in the mind (like when Super broke and people though Claw’s c.jabs were easier to link… it was only in the mind.)
air throw did get buffed. it’s almost as large as super vega’s super range

At the Izuna buff: I haven’t noticed any change - if there is any then it’s range specific and only minor, definitely no more active frames.
Range specific i think there is and it seems to be decent; either that or i am just getting better at the izuna loop stuff again.

Why didn’t you record a dummy Vega doing the backthrow into safejump mp; then do EX DP with Yun when he jumps at you?
Izuna drop range is definitely buffed. I also managed to cross someone up in the corner with nj. mk but I haven’t been able to recreate the scenario… Oh well. It’s probably useless anyway.
Oh, and Vega is definitely better in this game in my opinion.
I gotta say, I thought I wouldn’t even bother with AE Vega due to the presence of Yun and Yang, but after playing him for the past day, I’m really liking him. The cosmic heel nerf is pretty stupid (same thing goes for his damage nerfs) but I’m really liking the 6 frame cr.MK, buffed izuna throw range, and the fact that he now has the best airthrow in the game. Some matchups are most definitely insane, but I think I’m going to just try and deal with it. I like AE Vega so I may as well just play him.
Is the Splendid Claw nerf as bad as people make it out to be?? I have yet to hop online with Vega and I was curious about this…
