Yun is unbalanced. Dive kick combined with command grab and dash punch make him so stupid. I have played a decent Yun before that has been doing normal 250 damage combos regularly. This match is heavily in his favor. Because of command grab you cant tech him, and if you try to dash away and he dash punches he gets a free ultra. If you block his dash punch he is at +1. Seriously that is the dumbest thing ever. Far range dive kicks can be cr fierced. And ST will beat or trade with dive kicks. But good yuns will get in using other methods and his dive kick is really unfair.
The Makoto matchup is also really hard now.
As far as Vega’s changes go: I really do like the overall changes except for that unexpected CH nerf. That CH nerf is completely unjust. Why does Yun get the same move properties more or less with his EX dash punch BUT have way farther range AND combo into ultra AND then be +1 on block AND armor breaks.
I haven’t found air throw to be a viable counter to the Twins’ dive kick offense at all. I fish for it constantly, but if they’re already in my face, the angle and speed and frame advantage means I’m getting beaten out every time. So far, in general, I haven’t found much that works against solid players. They even have insanely good pokes, so you have to be playing really sharp just to keep them at bay. Hopefully we can crack this.
Vega = range 1.20, startup is 3 frames. El Fuerte = range 1.15, startup is 3 frames. Hakan = range 1.10, startup is 2 frames. Chun and Ibuki = range 1.10, startup is 3 frames.
***Guile = range 1.07, startup is 4 frames. Cammy = range 1.00, startup is 5 frames.
Fuck you, Capcom. There’s no logic for this bullshit.
That’s copy-pasted directly from the guile forum…again i´ve no idea where did they get this from so it may be wrong…the last comment is copy-pasted as well…i´ll have to wait for the disc to come out to get my hands on AE so i would know what is true or what it isn’t…
You can’t deal with Yun properly using Vega. Characters like Yun/Yang demolish him. I went on a 15 streak online frenzy and the only difficult match was this mediocre Yun. OS with any move will do you no good because height restriction and hit box shift make it useless. Reacting to EX Lunge punch with ST always yielded a trade for me, but may be well worth the damage. His buttons are not to be under estimated ever though. And you can’t sit down and wait for dive kick or mash cr.mp/mk, it won’t work. Same applies to Yang who I played like 5 times. Only reason I won was because he didn’t abuse that command grab or that cross up dive kick. The only saving grace against Yun is that if he goes for chip he puts himself in a very unfavorable position, if you are not worried about him doing a DP, and you can punish any whiffed DP on wake up with Ultra 1 or EX FBA. yang however is worrying me a bit because of his safe chip pressure and his ability to put you in win/win mix up situations if he decides to opt for that.
More educated ST’s? The risk is defenitly worth the reward imo.
Did any of you also notice that LP.RCF is whiffing on opponents when it didn’t in SSF4? I cancel cr.mk into LP.RCF and the first hit of LP.RCF is whiffing. WTF?
I’m honestly thinking of dropping Claw. I played him in vanilla when he was ass and played him in Super when he was decent mid, but now I think I’m just plain burnt out.
Who gives a fuck about supposed buffs and nerfs to cammy and honda… If tournaments are dominated by Yun, then it just the same fucking thing. You learn a character really well who hangs well with the mid-tiers and beats the low tiers, but you go to a tournament or local meetups and just play fucking uphill battles all day.
I played the undisputed best player in the state of Arkansas tonight. He plays Yun and I used Claw. I was raped repeatedly. The only rounds I took where ones where I got lucky with scarlet terrors. It’s a 7-3 matchup right now, and it may improve to 6.5-3.5, but may become as bad at 7.5-2.5 as the game develops.
I found my best friend to be standing roundhouse. Counters dive kicks pretty well.
But back on dropping Claw… I’m just fucking tired of the same thing… you try to footsie and do well with Claw’s pokes, but they ALWAYS eventually get in or guess when you’re about to poke and jump in on you, and then its the monotonous game of blocking high, blocking low, crouch teching, and guessing for fucking ages. I played a decent Akuma tonight… seriously, it’s just not fucking fun anymore. I work fucking hard to get past the zoning game only to play a footsie game where I have the slightest slightest advantage over Akuma’s sick normals, and the instant he gets a knock down, its fucking vortex and ambiguous crossups and guessing when he is going to throw out of the demon flip or not, etc. It’s just not fucking fun anymore.
I’m just fucking tired of playing such a low defense character. If it’s not Cammy making my life miserable, then its going to be Yun.
Edit: Sorry for being so negative, it’s just that some really shitty things have happened in my life recently and I’m grouchy and cranky like 95% of time.
footsies don’t win battles in this game. What they do is establish a position where you can initiate an offense, but we all know what happened to our fairy friend in AE. If you are going to tournaments to win, and you purposely use shit tier well
you better be god or
im sorry for being so blunt, but you are fucking stupid for trying to be a low tier hero.
On another side note,
Have you tried engaging them? Rather than hang back and space yourself for a counter (footsies), why not, instead, space yourself to attack more often and make them shift positions too where they can attack you, but ultimitly you are the one dictating the match up?
In the lobby I was in a few days ago with the Vega’s, they where all playing footsies and if they did it right, well it didn’t matter. What the hell were they going to do against me on wake up? jump in and do cst.hp? or kara-throw?
Ill say one thing, and that it’s hard in this game when the hit boxes are beyond stupid.
As for your st.hk, I’m sure he wasn’t punishing you enough for it. Rufus eats st.hk alive and his footsies are bad. Imagine Yang/Yuj?
I’m British. We use u’s. In Favourite, colour, Armour, honour, labour etc etc.
As for whoever asked for j.HP, cl.HP xx EX Roll, crMP xx EX FBA, claw strike > EX.ST
Damage is 415 (less than just finishing it with Izuna at 421) and I don’t know the stun.
I use Vega and I do perfectly fine against top players and their high tier characters. These forums are really whiny, god forbid its the player thats not up to speed and not the character. Lmao.
I wish he was better too, but if you’re just going to complain all day, move on kids.
When I engage more with Claw, and stay on top of them with pokes and offense, it seems things go better for a bit, but trying to keep up the pressure with pokes seems to make it more likely they’ll just try a random jump and guess right when I hit a button. Then its playing defense again.
Don’t get too cocky in your posts; playing a pressure poking game is something I got from you; I believe it was your post on the best way to play against Honda (by pressuring him with pokes).
And s.roundhouse, at least in my session last night, seemed far more effective against Yun’s divekicks than it ever has for me against Rufus. Next time I get a session I’ll try it again, but from my one session of playing AE it certainly felt better for the match up than it did against Rufus’s divekick.
im not being cocky, im just calling it like it is. If you seriously believe that you can join tournaments and its not always going to be an uphill battle, that your chances of winning it with Vega are on the slim side, then you are fooling yourself. I respect people who choose to play who they want and still do so in a tourney setting, but I ridicule those who lie to themselves that there chances of winning with Vega are just as high as somebody using top tier. My advice after to you after my first statement is
Stop caring about the uphill battles and simply play or
Choose another character that is fun once again.
Take a breather, i haven’t played much since May.
If one has gotten to the point where constatnt uphill battles are annoying, the game is fun anymore and move on or take a break, the game does get extremely mundane and boring when you play low tier, I understand that.
Yea I play Guile too, and his airthrow is total ass now. The nerfs are a lot and all of them matter. I am playing more vega(vanilla since I am on PC) Can anyone help me out with what changed from Vanilla to Super for Vega, other than the ultra changes?
Vega air throwing EX headstomp at the end
http://www.5_29 SBO Blue Ticket AREA Finals_ Reiketsu (Claw) vs Kim1234.flv youtube.com/watch?v=zUeFkXgEa9U&feature=feedu I couldn’t post media url for sum reason.
it’s the fact that he didnt change much that got him a bit higher on the list.
-his walldives can vary height depending on which kick button you use.
-HP version RCF is a tad bit safer on block but can still be interrupted
-MP version RCF or less cannot be interrupted
-PoM is an overhead now
-Super damage increased.
-ST can no longer be thrown on startup
-U1 can hit on the way to the wall… but because of that the ultra meter is depleted when the motion occurs not when he hits the wall anymore.
-Wall dive glitch fixed
-jHP,HP, cMPxx EX FBA works on almost everyone now. has a few problems with females at max range.
thing was that most everyone got their medium punches and kicks nerfed… he didnt. till ae…
Ok thanks - that is helpful, some questions:
what buttons make what height difference in the walldives?
What do you mean by “interrupted”?
whats the wall dive glitch?
does ex FBA fly lower to the ground(so it hits more)?
Thanks - I always liked vega but found it hard to do inputs like ST and directioned wall dive sometimes the wrong one comes out.
the wall dive “glitch” wasnt really a glitch. it was implimented back in SF2 Turbo to prevent vega from wall dive spamming. basically what happens is that if you walk toward the wall vega is going for he wont land on the wall and he’ll be completely vulnerable. anyway… that’s gone. he hits the wall every time now unless he gets hit.
no EX FBA has a slightly larger hitbox than in vanilla. the trajectory is dependant on the button pressed. IIRC the hitbox used to end at his knee… now it ends at his foot.
awesome, what is the benefit of using one over the other as far as where he hits the wall? I seem to notice when I watch vids that EX FBA hits a lot more than I can get it to hit in vanilla, so I want to make sure its not just me effin up the button or input. EX FBA trajectory probably works the same no matter what 2 buttons you press, you said dependent but did you mean independent? Maybe its just that hitbox buff that is why I am not hitting crmp>exFBA as much. It seems like I have to be way closer in Vanilla for it to combo.
