SSF4 AE Vega Changes

Thats what was said as soon as the changes were announced. The problem is getting it to connect in the first place and that hasnt changed.

I’ve been thinking about Ultras in AE. With the startup nerf on U2 i think that using U1 will be more justified. U2s main use for me atleast is to force my opponents to safejump, but since everyone has such an easy time safejumping Vegas U2 right now and considering it will become easier in AE i’m seriously thinking about going back to U1. Will U2 still be able to autocorrect and hit crossups or is it too slow for that now?

I thought about this fairly logically when people started throwing around "OMFG EX FBA IS NERFED"
Most people will hit confirm it from cr.mp/cr.mk yeah? So maybe instead of thinking “It’s the cr.mp/cr.mk that got the damage reduction” they instantly went “Nerf to EX FBA…”

Could just be me, but it’s a possibility since we had confirmed damage nerfs to his normals?

and I’m happy in a way, means all this time I’ve been using mostly U1 because I’m far more confident in that paid off.

hp.RCF is useless. learn your counter hit lp.RCF set ups. Leads to good damage and what not. but yeah I know what you are talking about it. People do have the weirdest reactions to it, especially since nobody uses that and opts for kara-grab everytime. Have you tried using it as a reset tool? You land a poke while maneuvering, cancel and it gives you the space needed to do something safe, or time to collect yourself.

As for EX being useless, it is, kinda though. Every time you could land cst.hp you can land EX RCF. Problem is, how many times do you land that move with half the charge already and on a good opponent.

will Focus attack pressure be much more viable? CH was used to blow up crouch techers, will FA semi replace that?

Fuck though im so confused on where to take Vega, although my early pick on Yang will pay of since everybody says he is top tier material.

first off, the new 6 frame cr.mk is stupidly good. it’s easily one of the best pokes in the game. vega’s frame trapping potential and poking game is seriously a threat now.

EX rcf is a cool and welcome buff considering EX rcf was useless before. and yes, on hit it is possible to combo into cr.mp xx ex fba. the ex fba probably whiffs on crouching opponents but i wouldn’t know since i always forced the opponent to stand with cl.hp

cr.mk xx EX rcf did not work. dunno about counterhit

i was able to consistently link cr.jab after rcf fadcs. because of this i strongly believe that vega’s forward dash is 1 frame faster, as previously reported by laxlight. this is a truly amazing buff for many reasons

startup nerf on U2 is very noticeable. it will be harder to land this ultra now, but i still think that it is better than ultra 1.

cosmic heel definitely feels funny but it didn’t seem like it was as bad as -3? hard to tell. in any case i don’t care about this move as nearly as much as everyone else does. iungivafuck mang

So no startup buff for ex rcf? Just comboable wall dives after? :confused:

You guys think there’s any chance maybe they added i frames on lk.st? Or even mk? Maybe hk? And that may be why no one’s noticed it yet :smiley:

Don’t you guys think Tatsu would have said something about having I-frames on that move? Why is everyone still asking about it lol? Vega’s pressure game got buffed so much. That buff on his forward dash is making me excited right now…

You’re right Rugz, just saying maybe he didn’t think to try a lk.st or mk.st to test it out. I sure as hell wouldn’t have. But it’s really wishful thinking at this point

I don’t think it’s going to happen man which is fine to me, BUT at least now we’ll be able to dash under jump ins better. I would have loved to see a nice buff on cr. hp though =( I realized now that it should be used as a poke at best.

@laxlight- I told you it would connect, unless they changed Ex FBA properties or other characters hitboxes, since it already hits most of the cast at max range even when they are crouching. I made a list of characters that it misses on…

If we get confirmation of forward dash being 2 frames faster, then I will probably still main Vega, since that is the last thing I would need for my FA frame trap, and it will be a complete replacement for dash cr lp= 24 frames currently.

@pedo- As for the CH replacement… I am really working on lp and mp RCF, especially since they can be FADC into combos now reliably… although that would require 3 bars for Ex FBA which is not cool. And another possible way to get cl Hp into EX RCF would be after izuna you use slide.

@everyone else- Does anyone know when we get the AE update?

i felt that i was confident enough to say that it wont connect after trying it twice in the same round man, guess playing on a stick really makes tiny combo improvisations all the more difficult for me.but i can vouch for the forward dash making your crlp connect after the dashes man, i could somewhat consistently do that in console ssf4 and i had a 100 percent success rate in the ae edition.

but yeah as i said earlier, crmk is now a direct replacement for all of the frame traps that involved ch and much more.

overall i would say that vega has been buffed overall

the nerfs to u2 and cosmic heel are unfortunate, but to be fair, those moves are kind of braindead anyway.

the new vega is stronger on a fundamental level. expect more ground game and more flash
