SSF4 AE Vega Changes

i’ve heard they added some invincibility frame to ex.st, is it true?

can you do a sc.hp–>ex.rcf,c.mp,ex.fba?

This guy’s channel has a lot of “over the shoulder” videos of AE, including some Vega matches. But its like laxlight said, not exactly high level Vega play, not that I’m saying I could do better, especially without my DS3.

Btw, laxlight, I thought you mainly played with a controller, are you used to the arcade stick too? Pretty cool that you’re getting to play.

faster forward dash means we can focus absorb and dash in to punish all versions of chun’s hazanshus!

i remember reading somewhere that st.rh sometimes gets only 1 hit after EX rcf as well. looks like this buff was a bit of a cocktease

Hmm I am so glad after a year break, I come back and everyone understands how boring vega would be with Iframes until active on ST. Nice change of pace! Sad about the weakening of CH if that happens. 2f faster forwards dash would allow RCF, FADC, Crouch mk, crouch mp, EX wall. Just saying! With plinking that would be totally doable too!

Nothing, just decided to use this font out of the blue. Strange, i know, but somewhat satisfying.

Can you do me a favor. Find a Ryu or someone with a 3 frame jab do level one focus and dash forward and use cr.lp. Tell him that you are going to do it and you want him to mash cr.lp. If you can trade with your cr.lp, +2. If you beat him out of it, it means Vega’s dash was improved by +3 frames. Godlike buff.

Or to make it easier tell anybody to mash grab after lv.1 FA, and if you get grabbed its either +1 or +2. If you beat them +3!!!

or just fadc an rcf and see if you can combo into either c. fp or c. mk

Agree with Tatsu

The math is wrong here. To be at +1 on lvl 1 FA Vega’s dash would have to be 15 frames. Vega would be at -2 after a lvl 1 FA if his forward dash was 18 frames since FA lvl 1 has 16 hit stun frames after a forward dash.

Vega is currently +2 after a lvl 2 FA, but if he gets an 18 frame dash and cr mk is 6 frames, then he will be +4 after lvl 2 FA if his forward dash is 18 frames. This means a very nice 2 framer frame trap with cr mk which leads to an easy hit confirm combo for good dmg and stun. This also sets up the next move as a frame trap and the kara throw as well.

Also if done right he should be able to catch people’s backdash with cr mp into ex FBA. The only way to escape should be an I frame attack or block.

If his forward dash is really 18 frames that means that dash cr mk is 24 startup frames in total. Vega’s current forward dash cr lp is 24 frames but is inaddequate due to only being +1 on block. Being able to replace that is going to be really good.

This also means that cr mk after forward throw will work as well.

after looking at the videos it doesnt look like Vega is all that much different from before…

I thought Vega was -1 on blocked FA. The Wiki says -21 frames on block for a lv.1 Focus Attack. Vega’s dash is 22 frames no? Cancel and it should be -1. Chances are im wrong. Never bothered looking at FA use though, I should know though because it looks like im going to use this to punish crouch tech or low pokes at kara-throw range.

LOL at David’s comments, dumb damage? Like he did damage to begin with. That combo looks like its going to be used as a punishment tool for dumb mistakes. Looks like it will replace my cr.mk xx HK.ST as my punishment of choice, given that i can build some nifty meter after landing that move.

Really curious if cr.mk > ex roll will work. Even if only on counter hit. Would be crazy dmg for blowing up a cr.tech.

Also curious about general movement/spacing following things like a df.rh > ST or just whiffed df.rh. Hope they didn’t tweak little things like that that would affect followup mix-ups.

Some other things I’m curious about (Keep in mind I’m not suggesting any of this has been out there, just a wish list :P):

  • Any chance they threw us a bone with something like AA lk ST > U1/2? :stuck_out_tongue:
  • U1 doing full hit as long as you hit on the way up?
  • Equipment feel easier/harder/same in terms of getting knocked off?
  • Overhead still seem the same?
  • ST > FADC ala loketests?
  • Effects of Vega -claw/-mask, same as SSF4?

@pedo- lvl 1 FA does 15 frames of stun and Vega’s dash speed is 20 frames, but when you cancel a FA it becomes a frame faster or something like that. That’s why lvl 1 FA is risky for Vega if you forward dash. it will be 15-(20-1) = -4.

Lvl 2 FA do 21 frames of hitstun. 21- (20-1)= +2

Chun Li is the ONLY character currently that is at + frames after a lvl 1 FA, since her forward dash is 15 frames. 15- (15-1)= +1

@ everyone else- I have been trying out lp and mp rcf since I know that it will have to replace CH, and I have been getting the strangest results. If I had posted some of the matches I am sure you all would see, how weird players were responding. I require alot more testing though, before I post anything.

However, HP RCF has been pretty much useless so therefore Ex RCF will be useless too unfortunately. They are just a little bit too slow.

Did they NERF the damage on Izuna Drop? (I’ll be a SAD panda if they did)

I was also afraid that they wouldn’t change Ex-RCF, it’s just too slow even in reaction to fireballs, yet we’re supposed to c.mp xx wall dive from it?
