I love it how CH got nerfed to how it is, but Abel’s step kick is the same considering the huge difference in usefulness. Imagine all the crying Abel players would do if they found out that capcom decided on making Abel at -1 after a blocked step kick dash. But no we get - 4, just wow. Completely ruined my game. Don’t forget we have 2 useless ultras now.
guys i tested this shit out,cosmic heel is not punishable only when your spacing is perfect,the kind of spacing that allowed you to land ch to u2 on a grounded opponent in the console ssf4(which btw is not possible anymore LOL).
crmk is hella fast and im confused right now on alternating between crmp and crmk.
its now easier to lp/hp roll fadc crlp thanks to claw’s faster forward dash.the timing is almost the same as landing bison’s lk scissor kick fadc crlk.
ex roll is funny, i think claw’s staple bnb is going to be jump in normal exroll crmp/sthk when he’s got a bar.
overall the first impressions of claw makes me and the others find him to be amusing, they killed his footsies and gave him a bunch of combos.
btw ex st CLEARLY had i frames during arcade testing, right now i tried it a couple of times and got hit out.i cannot confirm for sure, the line at the arcade is HUGE and i only used claw around twice.ill do my best to clear this up, stay tuned.
maybe the nerfed recovery on CH can create new mind games. people will now be tempted to try and punish it everytime, but a well spaced CH will not have the negative frames so their reversals will whiff or blocked.

Woh woh, faster forward dash? Goodbye cosmic heel, Hellooooooo focus attacks! A forward dash that is two frames faster would make a lvl-1 blocked FA-dash safe from free shoryus/normal grabs, and a blocked level-2 FA-dash could blockstring into a crouching jab for a better throw mixup. Even one frame faster would make FADC out of any connected RCF entirely practical, I’m serious.
I can reason with the logic behind the CH nerf a little - I mean from point blank it looks like it should be punishable since it’s this giant leaping attack. Now Guile can flashkick it if he’s right on the money. I don’t know why U2 got slower, it’s not like you couldn’t safejump it or combo off of anything practical. I’m gonna be a bit peeved if giant meaties don’t get caught by it now because I liked u2 as a deterrent against too much pressure when I’m low on life.
I’m glad that a throw won’t instantly catch me out of a backdash. I’m excited that cr.mk will be an easier blockstring off of a jump-in, and excited that it’s more useful as a quick poke that can be confirmed at longer range than cr.lp
I really can’t wait to see all of the specifics. My xmas wish list:
- Hopefully Cosmic Heel is the same except for less frame advantage (-4 to +0) :tdown:
- Hopefully Backdash is the same except for new airborn property immediately after invulnerable frames :tup:
- Hopefully Ultra 2 gets an additional frame of invincibility for every extra frame of startup :tdown:
- Hopefully Forward dash is at least 1 frame faster :tup:
- Hopefully cr.mk proves itself useful as a quicker frame trap and confirmable poke :tup:
- Hopefully cr.mp, cr.mk, and izuna are not reduce strongly in damage compared to other char’s changes :tdown:
- Hopefully ex-rcf and other rolls start up a teeny bit faster in addition to the combo-ability of ex-rcf :tup:
- Hopefully ex-st has any sort of minor improvement :tup:
Exactly what I thought, was tired of seinghtose pricks doing free focus tap fdc into my point blank range where i don’t really want them, that + the 2 frames of extra hitstun of ex rcf makes for a cheasy fafdc cancel combo. and as you said makes other rcf fadc much easier to combo too.
I don’t know why so many people are all about his footsies being destroy, that is pretty false,
faster cr.mk, faster dash, unpunishable Focus attack tap front dash, level 2 blocked into a tick throw/blockstring/instant overhead mixup. that is buffing footises a great deal.
granted that +2 of hitstun on RCF is not so great it still opens for an arguably correct mixup onward

no yo, its impossible to combo into anything after the crmp ender.It COULD work on the more beefier characters like sagat and abel, but me and the others are yet to try it.
golfguden, to be honest it seems like the whole of japan is playing ae right now and almost every random player im playing against is completely godlike, so i just keep reverting back to playing my natural game and completely forget about trying out new stuff since its not in my muscle memory to be pulling off those ex roll combos.
right now i’d do anything to friggin try out the new training mode and see if ex roll can be comboed into from stuff like crmk, but most of the crowd dont plan on leaving the arcades for a couple of days and the chances of me getting to spend a few minutes alone with a cabinet is very slim.
also beruberujin is at it again and fucking tearing everyone apart, the dude played like a couple of hundred games using just a few coins. i think boxer is top tier.
on the whole people like me who use cosmic heel a lot need a ton of adjusting to do, i was extremely cautious throughout and not being able to do chs indirectly affected the way i move around the screen etc.
but anyways good news is that shotos cannot trouble us with their crmks anymore thanks to our crmks which are not only a bit longer but also seem to have more priority.

its not very noticeable lol, but it does give you atleast 2 frames of leeway on following up a roll fadc.I honestly cannot see any other uses for its slight buff.
from what i can tell, crmk is basically a direct replacement for cosmic heels right now, eg:stuff like walk back a bit cosmic heel to catch throw techs can be replaced with walk back crmk.
it doesnt help that the claw players around me are not very good and are your run of the mill mash that mp for the exfba combo kind of players sigh. they keep saying vega is not all that different, dumbasses! lol.
That is saddening, that they can’t tell the difference lol.
If forward dash is 2 frames faster that makes a huge difference for after FA. You get a frame trap of 2 frames on cr mk which is the best close normal. It also means dashing under people’s jump ins are easier, and dashing under cr mk becomes alot more viable. Cr lp sucks alot up close since its only +1 on block and has minimal knockback. People who know that are always going to grab right after they see you use cr lp up close. But with cr mk being +2 and pushing you that far away, it will be very useful, if we can rely on it.
Here’s to hoping his forward dash is at least 18 frames.
Also if the properties of Ex FBA is the same and people’s hitboxes haven’t gotten shorter, then the cr mp x Ex FBA should work on most of the cast, since you can catch most characters at MAX range with cr mp into Ex FBA already.

I just saw a bunch of shitty Japanese Vega’s play. He’ll be fine. Provided you use cr.mp as your primary poke and go to move in SSF4.
On a side note, if forward dash is faster, that means using Focus Attack as replacement for Cosmic Heel will be pretty neat. Although it will leave you super open, and not be nearly as effective, you’ll be landing Ultra much more often. Tap focus anybody?
