Joz, I think they’re trying to say that as long as you have meter, people are going to respect you more on wake-up. Not necessarily just doing it randomly on wake up. I could be wrong though!
4 frame reversal will stop cross ups, stop a lot shit from Viper, Akuma, stop meaties. Safe jump isnt the only thing an opponent should be doing on knock down. And no i dont want it as a reliable Anti-Air. I stated earlier and i said earlier that it will be used and you will see the best results on wake up situations.
And i dont see how it will cover you. Say you have invul frames. and you are walking in and out and you use cr.mp, you still wont have enough frames to charge for ST. ST is 42 frames if I remember correctly. cr.mp is 21. Only way your landing ST is if you where pre-charging and you use cr.mp then. But if I know you have that, why would i jump at you?
To use the same card against you, why are you holding down back during footsies long enough to have a charge for ST?
edit: Rugalitarian got it right. Its the whole psychological thing about it, the second guessing.
also, how many times have you had a near perfect game, and you screw up. then the opponent is raping you. And you see an oppening where a reversal chip damage would have won the game. And dont say, well he could bait it. Of course he can bait it, but by doing so he loses momentum.

jozhear, you are a very good player… but you’re not going anywhere with vega. you will always lose to the tops because of this most crucial design flaw with the character.
sort of off topic - the ex-rcf buff is going to be useless if most of you haven’t figured that out yet. again, we can look at jozzy’s videos. you’ll see he accurately predicted fireballs with it but it was too slow to even connect. unless startup has been changed it’s a rather pointless buff.

First of all, honda is honda, he can gain meter really fast because he has a good offense (hands). His jump-ins has really good stupid priority and weird hitboxes that can stuff alot of things. He can also keep good pressure on you as well as having a solid defense. EX headbutt isnt his only invicibility move, he also has lp headbutt, which makes him turtle more.
Vega gains meter how? By going in and being OFFENSIVE. Why do people keep making it sound like Vega starts out with INFINITE meter and will continue to have INFINITE meter.
Honestly, people are still gonna play the same exact way that they play now if he was to have I-frames. The only difference is… they wont get raped by dive kicks, they will have a solid anti-air/reversal (that uses meter), they will turtle abit more when they get the life lead (yes i said turtle)…but the thing is, that turtling isnt as EXAGGERATED like most people are making it out to be. This is Vega, not GUILE. What are you poking to get that meter? Air??? He doesnt have no fireball, no sonic booms to gain meter from a screen away. You need to go in and get that meter.

If people say that they just want Vega to have more options on his offensive to kill people faster but still lack a good defense to make it more fun…that’s understandable, it’s personal preference.
But please, DONT exaggerate on how much it would affect his playstyle. Obviously, it would affect it but it’s not as much as what people are making it out to be. (c.mp forever with infinite meter waiting for a jump in for the whole game)
With no meter Vega you can still play a mean wall game. Getting atleast one stock quick was never an issue with Vega before. And yes, he has no infinite meter and he will still continue to have offensive game for the first part until he has stock. So what are we left with? A character that strives for a life lead then turtles. If that doesn’t sound Honda like to you then… OOOOOKay. But I will admit that he won’t be quite as annoying as Honda. He works a little harder for the meter.
If he walks: Poke
If you smell a SRK: Do nothing.
If he jumps at you: EX ST!
If he neutral jumps at safe range: Do nothing or HK!
Oh no! Out of meter: Poke–>meter regained
Rinse/repeat.

well, i disagree. if my reactions were better i probably just could have gone air to air, and not been jumped in on. On that note, I crouch teched every single time, and that’s what Daigo exploited to kill me. I’m not going to believe that my character screwed me in that situation when what caused me to lose was so clearly a fault with my own playstyle.
plus, i didn’t get in range to poke him and got beat out by fireballs,
i didn’t apply pressure correctly, etc…
i basically did EVERYTHING wrong and am clearly not on the same level as daigo. has nothing to do with vega, my bitch ass got totally outplayed. he knew the matchup far better than i did.

BTW, how the hell are you going to have meter, if you have to attack after a knock down, and like Joz is championing the idea of safe jump cst.hp xx EX RCF, which dies to reversals easy and uses meter. you are going to start using cr.mp xx EX FBA more since you lost Cosmic Heel. Where is the meter going to be at? Not to mention, you peeps will start saving two stocks of EX meter to cancel EX RCF into lv.2 Focus Attack so you can combo into Ultra.
Vega with invul frames in this game (AE) looks like it will play a lot like Super Turbo Vega minus the godlike wall dive. Normal barrage anybody?

If I had I frames on ST, I would rarely use it, unless im fighting Abel, cause that MU is beyond retarded right now. In AE Abel isn’t going to have retarded breathless and we will have air frames on frame 9 of backdash so that MU is going to get ALOT better defensively… but offensively we lost CH…
but according the cencus around here you shouldnt be using that move against Abel because it leaves you in a unfavorable position no matter what.
All Vega needs is for his st.rh to be a universal AA like Cody’s b.mp or Chuns df.lk or w/e. No need for I-frames on EX ST. If he had the tools to keep himself from being knocked down, then him having a poor wake up game would be irrelevant imo. That one buff alone will make him a very well rounded strong character. Potentially high tier.

Cosmic Heel looks safe still as long as it isn’t too close to your opponent, but I could be wrong.
I think one of the developer blogs say that they wanted heel to be even if you tipped with it, would put it currently at -4 if you hit on the first frame.
which is bullshit. Ive already re worked my play style to use less Cosmic Heel, and im losing more to people i would beat. Chun is harder, Balrog is harder, Viper is harder, Ryu is harder, Sagat got harder, etc.
Sucks but, all i can think off is that we get screwed if we use it psychic to nail a backdash.
I can live with that i guess.
But that is about the limit, one more frame of nerf and the move becomes no more than a punish starter, and with high execution you can do better in most cases with something else…
