He also lost the ability to combo into sweep if im not mistaking.
I only mained this guy for 18 months, which is nowhere near enough for anything worth mentioning, before dropping him into a No.2 spot but damn, that’s some hard stuff.
I’ve always hated his stamina and stun ratings, but the crapload of fun from playing him with all his crazy stuff made it worth it. Watering the fun down while keeping the frustration is a huge deal. Wasn’t the non-existant stun bad enough?
On the other hand, I’ll be frank, it was just a matter of time before Capcom turned their gaze on him. I never believed he’d walk away from the SF4 series unharmed. But I bet you guys will make him work again. Just wish Tokido doesn’t drop him if the changes are final.
If capcom really insists about the 2frame extra recovery, they should seriously consider adjusting how far the opponent falls after the throw, they should make the opponents fall a lot closer so we can still go for safejumps/cross up attempts.
Because with the current recovery and opponent distance while knockcked down, the fastest way to be in the right position for normal safejumps/x-up setup is via the 2 dashes and it’s only a 5 frame safejump, add 2 extra recovery frames and it’s a whole different story and you can no longer safejump Fei, Sagat, Yun, Yang…etc
We can safejump via demon flips and very far totally not ambiguous normal safejumps (like forward throw x1 dash> a tiny step forward > j.hk), but that’s fucking pointless and for a character that heavily relies on his mixup game like Akuma is useless!
I guess if a character is named “Akuma”, as long as his health/stun is low it’s Fine for capcom and they don’t have to give him the right fucking tools to make up for it.

lost forward throw whiff hk divekick/whiff palm
lost forward throw against dash*2 against 5 framer
lost forward throw c.lk.clk,clk,s.lk, cmp, cmk, whiffs into ambiguous setup against rose,cammy,fei,ken,thawk
lost forward throw into jump back os against dictator
palm can be crouched so harder to setup whiff palm into low.
lost throw whiff s.hp jump mk.

At least a way for capcom to know that the forward throw nerf is very very very stupid and totally unnecessary? Because this might very well be the last version of SSFIV:AE and I’d hate to see Akuma’s forward throw ruined in it like that.
Petition or something wont change a thing, you dont think people tried something like this with their characters? They only thing that gives me hope is that the changes are NOT final and obviously they want to hear Tokido’s thoughts about the patch if they invite him for testing, so dont give up hope yet…

Demon flip has always been an overhead since 3 years, but Capcom change it just like that, for the fun, same thing for forward throw, no comment.

F.Throw nerf… wow. If you watched Tokido’s stream that OverheadGreg re-uploaded where he was grinding ranked. That was the core of his gameplay. cr.lk, st.lk (OS st.hk) into throw or cr.mp for frametrap. Assuming there will most likely be some new setups but they definitely won’t be as easy to perform as 2x dash. Did they really have to make the setups even more difficult to perform? Really?
Anyone that believes Capcom will change their mind, I don’t think they would ever change their mind on anything like this, Capcom Japan are just so bullheaded. Even about keybinding. It took a foreign development team to finally bring that in. I mean don’t get me wrong I hope they bin this change, but don’t expect it to happen.
Will be interested to hear opinions of the Akuma players after the loc tests.
Conspiracy theorist in me is running up to people in the street and shouting I TOLD YOU SO. THEY WERE GOING TO USE THIS PATCH TO FUCK EVERYONE OVER AND MAKE THEM LOSE INTEREST SO THEY MOVE ON TO SFxT.
It’s not just a difficulty thing, I wish it was. Akuma must position himself in a way so that he can go for safejump/x-up tatsu and the fastest way to reach that distance is via x2 dashes and it’s only a 5f safejump, so in AE v12 it’ll be that +2 frames slower and we won’t be able to safejump a LOT of things.
It’s not like we can teleport or DF to a position then do the safejump, I honestly think it’s simply not possible! :S
What salty players who hate Akuma’s vortex don’t realize is that this was an obvious attempt to fix the corner unblockables and not to mess with Akuma’s vortex game after forward throw, Capcom should get their fucking heads out of their asses and think of a proper solution to the unblockables instead of messing up a crucial game aspect of an already Very difficult to master character!
Another solution would be to buff Akuma’s forward dash to 17f instead of 18f to make his forward throw viable again (that would be so fucking awesome lol), but since we know Buff+Akuma won’t happen with Capcom, please just change back the forward throw to how it used to be.

Seriously though, when the patch come out, I am going to give it 2 months and if its just to stupid to deal with well…I guess I just wasted 2 years of my life I will never get back.
