SSF4 AE v2012 - Official Akuma Changes Discussion

Deal with it guys.
St.hk was a move which u could just throw out there against larger chars without thinking.
St.hk is still good if used as counterpoke or to punish people walking forward.

Of course im salty about it but I wont drop akuma just because of this.
All the other top tiers are getting nerfed aswell so he will still be really good.

It’s the teleport. I realize that it can be punished…but yeah, it’s the teleport.

We survived two back-to-back nerf series, but this has finally done it for me.
They nerfed all the fun out of Akuma. I consider him a cripple now.

Sure, we might still have some months of pure fun before 2012 comes out, but that feels like nurturing a cancer patient to me.

Just to throw out there, don’t lose hope, cuz until release theres at least 2 months, maybe even around 4, so many things can still be changed. They buffed ryus sweep, then undid the changes, so it’s not final yet. Which at least gives me some hope for some other buffs if not the undoing of some stuiped nerfs they’ve already announced.

You know, I had maintained a faint interest in picking up Akuma for 2012. (I had dabbled with him before but never took him up seriously.) That last round of nerfs killed that really fast. I feel for you guys, I really do. I don’t like seeing any character get raped like that.

Comparing all the other characters that got nerfed, at least they got some substantive buffs to compensate. Akuma gets crippled then tossed what are essentially Milk-Bones after being starved half to death. Damn, at least fucking Yang’s getting a couple of things in return (even though I’ve long since decided to drop him, too).

Yang is only getting a knockdown/Super cancel on his TC3.
It’s nothing, really.
Does not even compare.

Go whine on that guys twitter. Ono is it? Seems to have worked for other characters! It’s too much… I hope they’re giving him some positive things, that they haven’t mentioned. He needs something. ;(

Putting gouki on -2 on blocked f.st.hk is a huge nerf, i think a lot of people here dont realise just how important it is.
The buff is just one of the “i will give you something so that those who dont know any better wont complain” buff.

Wow… This nerf makes Venom in MvC2 look like a viable character. Ok, well, I’m definitely not playing AE anymore when the “patch” (and I use the term VERY losely) comes out. It’s going to be SSF4 (Chocolate) for me.

Funny… I forsee that I’m going to see mainly Akuma mirror matches in Super when AE2012 hits… LOL

Shit alot of chars have alot problems with geif, akuma is not the only one.

Now you just cant throw st.rh out all willy nilly (also keep in mind you can combo after it and the move hits twice)

Not really though. The nerfs to Fei and Viper are nothing in comparison to the nerfs Akuma, Yang and to a lesser extent Yun got. I mean, they basically took away 50% of our vortex and gimped one of our best normals and we got nothing worth having in return. No-one cares about 20 more damage on U2 because it’s a piece of shit anyway, and EX FB during EX flip is obviously going to be garbage and a wast of meter. It might have some application at absolute scrub levels (e.g. trying to bait out DPs, but people will soon start backdashing or using other AA moves) but nothing beyond that.

Why do they do this? I’ve put hundreds of hours into Akuma and I’m sure there are other people on this forum who have put in a lot more hours than that. But now all of that training is worthless because Akuma will no longer be viable or even much fun. It’s really annoying because it saps any enthusiasm I have for putting time into this game. Yeah I can switch to a new main but who’s to say that character won’t be nerfed in v.2013 or whatever?

Its a slight but significant nerf. Just the cherry on top of a shit cake. Still maining him.

Capcom really does not take the right way, when you watch other competitive games (non fighting like guildwars etc) with sort of “metagame”, update happens frequently (like 1 every 2 month) so a bad one is not a big deal since the devellopers can roll it back at the next one.
When you watch fighting game with no update at all, when you pick a character you know which are his good or bad point, and can’t complain if it’s a low tier.

Here with this version 2012 they decide change that will impact a game for years, without really knowing what the result will be, so people who have invested time in a character get his tools changed without any chance of roll back for a long time.

They have to choose frequent update or no update at all, but they can’t decide of destroying a character fundamentals without any chance of rectification if things turn to be bad.

  1. theyre making dan the most powerful hes ever been, so since dan and akuma are nearly polar opposites, they had to make akuma the weakest hes ever been. :wink:
  2. the giefs got tired of us doing standing roundhouse and then teleporting away.
    extra theory: they just did this randomly like ryus H.Shoryuken

yeah im stilll maining him too, but did capcom really have to go out of theyre way to make r lives hell? n i dont mean our real lives, just in game lives

Frankly any Gief player worth his salt has had 0 problems with s.HK. Akuma can’t follow it up on block without worrying about getting grabbed and if you throw out s.HK too much you get grabbed out of it.

I am disappointed in Capcom. They are making one stupid nerf after another and none of them accomplish anything besides pissing off the players. s.HK wasn’t overpowered. As it was there are only a handful of match ups you can abuse it in and frankly even then it wasn’t so overpowering that the characters had no solution to it.

This won’t kill Akuma, but again it is another pointless nerf to make our lives harder.
