The palm change isn’t so bad, as Nedo has said, it’ll still break focus/super armor/etc.
However, the forward throw change is a hard one to swallow.
That being said, they haven’t begun loke tests yet, so these changes aren’t exactly final. As Gamogo has said, we should wait to see what other Akuma players like Tokido have to say about the changes and see where Capcom goes from there.

P.S. I just realised that the only thing Fei got nerfed about is his chiken wing and flame kick… for 10 dmg nerf each. I find it very funny and ironic.
P.P.S just imagine what would have happened to all the fei long players and his overall playstyle if they would add, say - 3 frames recovery on his first and second rekka hits? Imagine that? That’s what they did to Gouki.
What hes trying to say is, it takes an insane amount of practice for Akuma players to learn specific timing to the forward throw setups properly. Of course everyone invests a lot of time in their characters, but Akuma requires a lot more to learn not only the setups, but what works against specific characters.
Hopefully Tokido will give them some good advice. Palm strike losing overhead property really makes little sense, so I have no idea what prompted such a change. Throw having less advantage is an obvious attempt to fix the unblockables, but it won’t fix them, so it makes little sense as well. I would prefer a buff to his sweep over a U2 buff. I guess we’ll see how it all plays out.
It’s going to be ok guys, I’m sure you’ll still be able to use palm with impunity still, it’ll still beat jumps right?. high/low stuff isn’t going to be as potent as before, this is just to help the characters with shit wakeup options and opt to defend. I do empathize on capcom fucking with yoursetups off forward throw though, it sucks, but again, you’ll be aight.
So if eventhubs’s frame data is right, a corner forward throw > dash> c.:mp: should get the same timing as dashx2 does right now for the ryu unblockable. This is assuming the data is right in the dash is 18 frames and c.:mp: is 16. Overhead palm being gone sucks, but we can live without empty palm > low when all of our bad matchups are going to get hit in the teeth with the nerf bat.
So we have to relearn some setups. It shouldn’t take that long to modify known setups to something comparable. And manually timing it isn’t horrible, just takes practice.
Just seems weird to me that Akuma got these game changing nerfs, whereas a character such as C.viper, considered on similar level only got minor nerfs?
Nobody likes guessing game bullshit? Like ridiculously ambiguous kunais that lead into a BnB leading into the EXACT same mix up? Or ridiculously ambiguous burnkicks that are +frames on BLOCK?
So what is Akuma now? He’s lost over half his ambiguous set ups, has one of the lowest health and stun ratings in the game, tons of characters have OSs to punish teleports, as well as moves to punish them on reaction, no more demon flip palm overhead to help keep charge characters from holding down and back
Tell me what he is, because Im starting to wonder just why he has no health or stun in this game. He isnt even a glass cannon. It takes 4 or 5 SOLID mix ups (hint hint, we just lost a lot of them) to even come close to stunning most characters. I guessing wrong twice and Im stunned and dead. TWO COMBOS FROM VIPER AND IM DEAD… fucking two…
Cross Up tatsu can be ducked or forward dashed out of by a lot of characters as it is right now, not to mention delayed SRK FADC Ultra takes almost 50% away from Akuma
True, cross-up tatsu got really bad in AE. It still works well with newbies, but if the opponent knows even a little bit about Akuma he has like onemillionbillion options to avoid it (dash under, FA dash, duck, late dp, heck some can just anti-air it on wakeup, think Sakura) or just simply block it, cuz it became a lot slower due to air tatsu nerf.
