This shit made my head hurt. Why nerf a character that is already hard to win with capcom? At least make it so you can tatsu–> sweep the whole cast to make up for ruining safe jump setups from the foward throw. Smh, Capcom is listening to these little bitch ass whiners all day. SF4 introduced me to the competitive scene, ass edition will be the reason I quit. Fuck Capcom.
<<< not an akuma main, but god damn, palm nerf hurts the mixup alot. My prediction is that more people will just block more then guess out of demon flip mixups/ OS’s. You never know if they change it after the Testing this weekend though, so you guys might have hope.
First off, I think we should see how the overall balance pans out before you pass judgement. Akuma will probably be still be one the best character in the game (close), when this is all said and done. People complain about akuma alot,im not surprised he got nerfed, a little bit…My biggest concern is the extra recovery on on his throw…but meh…What can ya do, other characters have it way more rough then akuma does…Im not sure what there trying to accomplish with it but again…If yun and yang arent in AE,akuma and fei long are would very well be the two best characters in the game.
Also for those saying “Im just gonna play 3S OE because they nerfed my character” Stay Free.
I think everything that can be said about Capcoms decision has been said. unnecessary changes to an otherwise almost perfect charactor. 2 years of my life wasted on mastering setups that have now been made obsolete. Fuck you very much Capcom.
True. I think only a good gouki player truly understands how this will affect akumas gameplay. These changes are VERY significant esp because this is a change brought about by wining scrubs. I dont care about twins. Just keep akuma the way he is. Nway its too late. Im prob gonna quit the game. Its bin a a pleasure Gouki.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to learn forward throw set ups? The timing on delayed DF Kicks? All the character specific bullshit? Do non Akuma players even know how hard it is to time all this shit, and one missed frame and we eat a SRK FADC Ultra for almost half our health?
As it stands, cross up tatsus are already not as ambiguous due to tatsu nerf, it may be near impossible to go for one against 3 and 4 frame DPs off a foward throw now. NOT THAT IT MATTERED ANYWAY BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE 6 MIX UPS TO STUN SOMEONE WITH AE AKUMA
I am beyond fucking livid. Stupid fucking characters getting buffed, ridiculously minor nerfs to other top tier, and Akuma is the only one to get GAME CHANGING NERFS.
Fuck Capcom
I’ll tell you what I’ll do. When 2012 drops, Im spending every second of my free time learning even more ambiguous shit off a forward throw.
its not going to be THAT bad…
he’s already pretty decent, and that’s not my opinion, that’s the general consensus. just wait it out…actually play some games with an open mind and see how it is, THEN draw conclusions
All you people saying the tears are so salty? Fuck you, do you know how much time we’ve invested learning setups, timing on moves, trying to build up a vortex game, only for Capcom to take away an essential (at least to me and many people) part of the vortex. And don’t say Akuma is easy to use, because he’s not, he’s not a character like Bison where you can pick him up for a week and start owning already. Akuma takes months, and this is just like someone bitchslapping you. It’s annoying, downright annoying.
The Forwardthrow nerf is really really hard… Nevertheless I’d say he still will be a good character. Perhaps it’s a bit harder to win. That’s no problem for me, I main Cody, it’s much much harder to win with him, promise (especially against Akuma xD).
Let’s wait what we get But please don’t tell me that it is already very hard to win with Akuma. Not true if you compare to a big part of the rest of the cast.
But you’re right… he is very hard to learn, took me months to get a good vortex game =/
The palm nerf is ok… still good for breaking focuses
I recall a recent mention of Tokido (and Mago) being invited by Capcom to attend the AE 2012 location tests.
I’m curious to see how Tokido feels about these changes during testing. Tokido’s game is setup driven, of which a large portion stem from forward throw and are literally to-the-frame setups based on the positioning f.throw -> dash dash invokes. Clearly these setups - Tokido’s signature style - are now out.
If anyone has anything constructive or negative to say about these changes, it’ll be him. Lets wait and see what he has to say. Its still possible these changes may not make the final cut, though from what I’ve seen so far, Capcom favours nerfs over buffs and its likely this one will remain.
