I run in to u2 trouble all the time myself, and it always comes to me dropping the strict inputs(if you go for normal half circle shortcuts, you never know what you’ll get, could be ex tb, ex cs, or even ex spd if you went up for an input.). It has little to do with the move itself. In fact everytime i’ve intentionally pulled off the motion(not including hail mary’s) I’ve hit.
I’d bet my life on it if he were to put up that vid, he would have missed it because he threw it out too early. He said yun was at the height of his jump and slightly on the way back down. the grab hitbox is pretty solid on u2(now), so if yun was already a good chunk of the way back down he would have almost certainly been hit. I’d say he just passed right underneath mere moments early.
The really gimmicky gens you tend to meet online are easy to beat like that but the ones that are actually skilled wont be throwing out anything they know is unsafe. Gen has superb abare so it’s too dangerous to play footsies with him once he gets meter. I don’t have much experience with the match but I suspect it’s one of those ones that revolves around patiently backing him into the corner.
Gen is really weird. He can cross you up pretty free if you don’t know hawks hit box really well… Having 2 instant overheads also is kind of annoying…

Good gens can hit confirm in footsies… Bad gens cant… so meter tends to be important. Most of the trades are in your favor very soundly but the problem lies that Gen can hit confirm off of some trades and counter hits.
I tend to push Gens in the corner and just leave them there. His options against T.Hawk are very limited in the corner due to fact that Thawk is the size of fucking Sentinal in the corner. So ones he is in the corner you can frame trap him with Stand Forward, Crouch Forward, Stand strong, etc…
Hes really only scary once he has meter to FADC… 1 bar is annoying but if he wastes it you are back to normal again. Gen also has a really ambigious T.Hawk only cross up combo where it looks like a loop but its not… What happens is he crosses you up from the front->change stand life knockdown-> Repeat and it looks like it hits the same direction each time but good gens will switch up the sides but it looks the same… most gens dont know this- One of my XBL freinds showed me it. I wish I could make a video of it- its really dumb mabye when Im not at my dorm and have a camera handy- anyway
Yeah once he has 2-3 bars you can play footsies with him and safe jump him soundly on knockdown once he has 2-3 bars though, Id be sparing as to what you want to do… Hes an easy matchup but hes still dangerous. He has new shit too but I dont remember exactly what.

I say this because I had the chance a week or so ago to play Xian in ranked with Gen and omg… fucking nuts… I ended up winning but goddamn… Dont get counter hit in footsies …
Her FA is 1+ on block I think. She also has one of the best backdashes in the game too, because of the far distance it travels. If she does a FA from a distance and backdashes there’s nothing you can do to punish her because she’s too far away.
thats sucks, and she receives buff from 2012, i bet she will be one of the top tiers in 2012, rose backdash is annoying too, two backdash she is already in the other corner wtf, hawk need a better walk speed, hes just too slow
I went 4-2 in AE singles at T12. I lost to Teddy (a good Rufus player, I donked it and played like shit though) and against Mr. Trite (fei/Akuma player).
But, I money matched the Combofiend and beat his Oni 3-1. Then he ran it back with Guy and I lost 3-2 last game last round. His Guy and Oni are both really solid. I coulda beat his Guy but in the last round I kept pressing buttons against s.mk rather than whiff punishing it.
the new change log says that akuma’s st.rh is now -2 on block!!! DOHOHOHOHO!
Also, viper’s ex seismo is no longer throw immune.!

uh, this video mentions something peculiar. I think Filipino champ said he spoke to KOG and KOG said Hawk beats Sim. then Fchamp said the match-up wasn’t easy for him. what is he doing that we are not in that match-up?
