jludtk you said it.
i know he is ass in ssf4.
st tomahawk always hit as anti air and condor dive punishes so much ryu and ken spamming fireballs.
st cd is actually fast and has the right angle compared to ssf4 version wich is big ass.
st hawk even has a overhead attack wich is gone now.
his tomahawk really needs faster start ups or more invincible frames at start ups.
i get kicked so many times when i want to use it as aa, it’s a shamefull move.
and make the shortcut for spire instead of ass tomahawk.
when ae comes out i’m jumping on the yun yang ship.
i’ll use hawk just for fun.
whats make me more sad in T hawks ssf4 is his slow in all circumstance, his normal are fucking slow on the startup and the recovery is ass so you always get trade or eat a combo, his walking speed and dash mainly are SHIT, and how a 245 inch muscle montain cant have absolutely no priority in anything and a so small hitbox. i think capcom guys were unable to transport that gameplay from sf2 series, cmon look at Zanguief in ssf4 for example, hes scary than ever like in ST, he have a lot of tools to win, if you watch some high level footage you didnt see people rushdown him and stay close like they do with T hawk SSF4 because his headbutt kick ass, his lariat is good as ST and he can punish real hard with combos and have good pokes like the insane st fierce, now look t hawk ssf4 hes like a sandbag, people rush him like he was nothing, and yes, he cant do nothing because hes ass and capcom dont give a shit about it.
yo you guys need to get less “dramastic” about hawk in ssf4. he’s a great character, and if you play him to his full potential then you can beat a ton of people. trust me, i’ve seen it done and have beat players myself in major tournaments and money matches. and of course he’s not the same character as he was in ST, it’s a completely different game, so it’s like comparing apples to oranges.
i bet that if there was a top player placing top 8 with hawk then you guys wouldn’t be saying anything about how bad the character is, regardless of what the frames on his moves are or his walk speed is. stop making excuses, the fact that you’re complaining about how bad your character is leads me to assume that you’re not very good at this game to begin with. worry about leveling up your own game before you jump to the conclusion that your character is bad. maybe YOU’RE bad.
T.hawk has problems, but complaining that T.hawk sucks this late is a moot point, its been done to death on this board already.
though I do agree with a lot of things regarding how they transitioned him from 2 into 4. some of his stuff have gotten worse, but some of it have been improved too. SF2 is a really hard game to play, while SF4 is not, so expecting things to transition the same is a bit far-fetched. sure, j.lp isn’t god-like in 4 anymore, its still a pretty good air to air normal, its best trait is it being so fast while maintaining a decent hit box. j.mp is ass in sf2, and in 4 its awesome. you could actually do thrust peak in 2, and it served absolutely no purpose, but in 4, it serves as situational but useful anti-air (I found out I can catch a juri in her back-dash with this move when she’s right next to hawk. how weird is that?).
chill out and practice with 4 hawk, you’ll found he’s not THAT bad. he should be decent once the AE comes around.
friend and I played a billion games with T hawk against Blanka… 1 first of all… this match up is really tough… worst match up?
Found that his DPs are A TAD () slow to whip them out on reaction against Blanka Balls…
I found that EX DP works PERFECT… my buddy found out that Jump Back DF Medium Punch works awesome.
Since Cr. Jab, Cr. Medium Kick, and SPD beat out his Electricity on wake up… He might want to back dash… If you think he will, Cr. jab os Sweep works pretty freakin well…
after the knock down, i liked to do ambiguous Condor Dive into jab jab dp, or tick throw… only if he doesn’t have meter obviously
man… talk about trail of tears… I’m glad they nerfed his rainbowball and Buffed raging slash in AE…
Blanka is damn hard, but I’d say Dhalsim is just slightly harder to take down. Not by much, though. Akuma is frustrating too.
I need to get back into this game. Damn MvC3 has been eating me alive. Ignorning the fact that the game is naturally faster than SSF4, i still haven’t hit the point where it all slows down for me, which is damn frustrating. Even more frustrating than fighting 10 Blankas…in a row…using a standard 360 controller…
Sup dude? We have a new Hawk in the fray…what happened to Abel? Or were you just screwing around with Hawk? Have you been to any arcades lately? After AI closed I haven’t been out.
I was testing out stuff in training mode today and as far as I know you can only punish his headbutts on block, if you’re at point blank and you have him in the corner. If he does EX you can only punish it with jab tomahawk. If he does any other kind of headbutt you can punish it with EX TH(if you can kill him) or strong TH if you can’t.
EDIT/
Sorry, above info is incorrect. You can only punish all versions of his headbutts with jab tomahawk if you’re at point blank and Honda’s in the corner. The jab headbutt can be punished with Strong or Ex TH under same conditions. Furthermore, if you’re not at point blank, let’s say you added a jab, you can punish all versions of his headbutt with standing strong.
Thx, but I was talking about punishing it after blocking it.
I presume you’re talking about punishing the headbutt while it’s in motion. If you’re in mid range you can also ex Tomhawk it on reaction, if you have two bars, for 300 dmg. Jab tomahawk also works well. Beats EX cleanly. As does fierce and standing strong, but the timing’s a bit difficult on those two. Most of the time you will just trade in Hondas favor.
You cant punish after block :wasted:
for punish with the tomahawk you need ninja reactions to hit the headbutt on the startup of the th, if not will trade in honda favor and random toma hawks are a bit dangerous so i think the best is block or try to punish that shit on motion, annoying…
for blanka you are right, theres nothing to do, but akuma no, yes is a hard match but the damage output and the Life meter gap is so enormous, you only need to hit him a few time and trade some normals and you get a good lead
Maybe there’s nothing you can do to get in, but you don’t have to try to get in. Blanka can’t hit you if he doesn’t come close to you either.
I recken that’s the perfect strategy for fighting Blanka. Stay at a long distance where you can punish his balls, and make him come to you if you have the lead. Sometimes you have to play a matchup different from what the character’s strengths are.
