doesn’t U2 excel in this situation? when I corner a shoto, and I anticipate a jump, and begin to dash in and buffer the motion. I actually have more problems when they decide to hold their ground and keep me out (or just out right air tatsu, because I’m not used to handling that). DP should also work fine, if your in range to get hit with a nj normal, you should be in range to hit them with DP. if your a bit out, condor spire isn’t too bad of a ranged anti air as well.
Just walk up and anti-air…
Yes U2 excels there, but that only helps if you have U2, obviously. You hit the nail on the head…when they hold their ground and repeatedly NJ RH it what causes the most problems. It beats TB and can beat CS. It’s not easy to get in when they are doing this.
Yes, hence my post. Like someone else said. Walk up an anti air. I listed the AA that usually work. I like the MP u listed as well.
Neutral jump fierce. Walk up block/anti-air. It’s not hard to get around neutral jumping.
I hate fight ryu, when i fight a good ryu i fell like fighting a wall of priority and brokeness lol
incredible how priority ryu have in his moves, his NJ is impenetrable, his shoryuken is annoying as hell and his fireball game is the best in the game.
his cr. mk piss me off, the no way i cant get in :amazed:
What I actually meant was what is the best way to advance on these guys? Focus a fireball, jump forward a fireball, Spire? What combination of those? Everytime I try to CD I get shoryuken’d…
Dive will get you killed. A lot of Ryu’s like to fireball to start the round. You can focus through it and lp.spd them and then you start the round with damage and knockdown mixups begin. Otherwise nj and try to be in the range where it looks like you would dive and try baiting a few DP’s if possible. Ryu wins this matchup. U have to get in and get lucky. But it’s winnable against most.
I try to dive really early or late on the jump. Throws the angle off a bit.
Focus on dash fwd and poking with st mp or cr mk

Against Ryu I like staying at c.mk/sweep range and playing footsies. When you beat him at the ground game they might jump, then you AA.
if you’re having problems with ryu’s fireballs, that means you’re not neutral jumping enough. condor dive was designed to punish fireballs.
try this: repeatedly neutral jump at 3/4 of the screen away. if a fireball comes out while you’re in the air, you can condor dive on reaction and punish the recovery frames. in fact, you can do this to every single fireball character in the game except guile (fucking guile, i hate him so much). similarly, if they get predictable with their fireballs, you can be psychic and condor dive. this is extremely effective and will get them to stop throwing fireballs.
Fixed for you.
I would like to point out that in AE you should be able to EX CD through fireballs. So it should be more effective in this scenario.
Sure, if you’re playing against an 8yr old all day.
I wish SRK had a “like” button as a part of thread post options.
Played a bunch of games against Jozhear’s Vega today (best Claw in Canada, got top 8 at CC). some stuff:
-s.mp beats all his pokes but c.jab (which sucks cause he can hit confirm into 200+ damage)
-s.mk on reaction to df.hk wins every time
-after lp spd do splash os forward dash to beat wake up backflip
-if you’re expecting claw to wake forward and poke do c.mp, it beats out most of his options
-watch out for that stupid u2
My friend, who generally uses Ibuki, with a bit of Sakura and Cody tossed in, likes to throw Cammy at my Hawk every now and then. And it pisses me off since I have no idea how to stop that attack. Unless I can toss my boot in his face the exact moment he starts it, he’s going to make me pay, and its really killing my morale while playing. What kills it moreso is the fact that (no offense to him), his Cammy is pretty bad, so I SHOULD be whipping him around. My lack of patience doesn’t help too much either, since i usually get punished when I take any step toward him. So if I’m down in life early, it just seems like I’m completely helpless, and that hooligan combo seems to be the source of it all. There’s probably something simple about it I’m just forgetting, but its really getting to me, and my game is suffering because of it. I fricken hate Cammy >_<
You can Tomahawk Hooligan pretty easily, or just crouch block and punish the slide. You kinda already said what your problem is already, and it ain’t Cammy. It’s your lack of patience. Smart blocking and spacing does wonders in that match-up, since you can punish Arrows (unless they’re spaced to perfection) on block, and blocking in general stops the CS-nonsense.
Watched a couple replays from my Hawk/Cammy matches, and I think my biggest issue with the hooligan combo was that I try to avoid it more than just tomahawk. Once he started to hit me with those, my mental game just collapsed. Which is a huge shame, since a few days ago, I was playing the best footsies of my life. I should probably hit up training mode and work on tomahawking hooligan combos…and work on some combos with Abel, but that’s not relevant here.
SO I know this has been addressed previously but MAN is the Gouken match bullshit. I played one the other day against someone with way less points then and he still tore me up. How do I get past the wall of fireballs and then get even closer without getting DP’s by him? I will focus through some fireballs but then he follows up with DP and a combination of demon flip mix up and all of a sudden I find myslef at full screen again…
You wait for AE and ex dive through them. Otherwise u just die until then.
