against ken and any shoto, st.mk beats all their normals except stand and crouch strong, two normals they rarely use in the first place. there are some goofy situations where their sweep will win sometimes but for the most part stand forward works wonders. i dont know why everyone keep asking about ken f.mk and cr.mk when this is the magic button. ive posted it like 100000000000000000 times
Well for what’s it worth, it is a great tip.
You can lead a scrub to water, but you can’t make’em READ…
Standing Forward pretty much creates footsies with Shotos.We/You should really let them get past mid range anyway so =/
they arent going to want to though so…
Yeah most try to zone faces off unless they are retarded.
I usually just push them in the corner and keep them there or try my best to.
I really want to see one of you two play my friend that mains Ken… I want to see how you beat him.
I’ve started implementing st.MK but it really isn’t helping all that much. His f.MK move is still really fast and it catches me before I can get the move out a lot of the time. I still have to predict it seems. Predicting leads to sometimes whiffing. Whiffing leads to getting punished.
^^ Add Weak Sauc3 SRK to XBL and Ill try and play him tonight. Its my brothers xbl and hes got a better xbl setup going so theres not lag like there is on mine.
Kay, I’ll add him.
Although, my friend didn’t come over tonight. Next time he’s over I’ll check if you or your brother is on.
Oy. I’d like to see a few good T.Hawk players myself.
I find almost always with shotos that I have to rely on punishing. The st.MK is really good for footsies and spacing, and it’s good for set-ups, but I wouldn’t say it’s magical.
I also find anything in the air is usually bad. Most of what Ryu/Ken have in air tend to beat out Hawk pretty bad. Gah, who knows.
Hoping to go to T11 on Saturday to rep Hawk in singles. Spooky is streaming it so if I get on stream it will be recorded.
neutral jump mp can be a good air to air if you don’t wanna use an AA normal. also, don’t sleep on d+MP in the air. as long as you throw it out early it destroys tons of stuff.
Hey guys probably not playing hawk anymore. Just gonna play Seth/Blanka instead.
So you decided you like winning. :razzy:  Good Luck.
Its incredibly annoying knowing exactly what your opp will do but being unable to do anything about it because of tools being unnecessarily bad. Im not saying Hawk should have everything like seth has but when you know your opp is goin to back dash or jump away and you still have a decently hard time hitting them its pretty frustrating (for example).
Agreed. He is fun for online and as a counter in your pocket for some characters. But the tools just aren’t there to be a solid main.
agreed with pumpkin bomber, Hawk just doesn’t have enough.
I will be sticking with him regardless. he’s the only character that I really like (and the only character I’m half-way decent with).
**Exactly **how I feel about him. I’ll be at the AI tourney this weekend with Hawk of course. I won’t win, but hey!
I’ve started to slip back into my old habit of being a Vega main… I destroy my friend that my Hawk was having trouble with when I use the Claw. It’s just so much easier to catch up to him or dodge away when I’m getting pressured.
He needs fixing. Absolutely needs fixing. Wait till people start FAing regular spires. Its laughable. Id rather use Hawk in maybe 3 or 4 matches over seth/blanka and thats a maybe. The tournament I went to sunday, I won teams using hawk with my bro who used abel. And singles I won using almost exclusively seth. I used hawk once against a fuerte ( i doubt Id use seth in that match) and had to switch to hawk for a boxer once.
What’s your general gameplan against fuerte as Hawk? Do you have any issues with fuerte’s wakeup game? I get destroyed by the local fuerte on wakeup… crossup splash/throws/slides… haven’t found a reliable response.
