SSF4 AE Ryu

I think he just means like, Gouken and Ken still have ways. So thats bull… And Ken is much better than Ryu in AE…

Gouken can EX tatsu out…soooo…yeah lol.

With Gouken and Ken you need to EX.

Even still, he has to burn meter, and it STILL isn’t as good as the floating Tatsu escape. You can punish Gouken’s EX Tatsu easier than you could the Floating Tatsu escape. Just saying. It was easy, needed no meter, and was almost, I stress almost, 100% unpunishable. Also, Ryu and Ken have always been two different types of characters, Ryu is a zone character, Ken is a rushdown character. So of course in a game that is leaning the balance more toward rushdown characters Ken is going to be better. Which lets face it, this game does. Rushdown characters seem to be better in AE, but Ryu does NOT seem as bad as everyone is trying to make him out to be. If you ask me, the nerf that sucks the most, is the overall nerf of projectiles. That was a key factor in Ryu’s zoning game, and now you have to be more careful when you trow plasma around. Even still I don’t see where this whole “Ryu is TERRIBLE” stuff is coming from.

Regarding the tatsu nerf, this video:

At 7:50, does anyone still know if that tatsu is still in the game, or did the early jump tatsu arc change effect late tatsu arcs as well?

I think it’s possible to do it. The beginnings of the air tatsu going forward haven’t changed that much but the arc for the tatsu has been changed ever so slightly that the tatsu is made to crossover rather than allow for escape. Any ryu player will give you that the change was made only to the flight tatsu to escape the corner. Other than that the strategy for it is still there.

can you at least to quote the entire post? you took quite some time to reply it, and i took another long time to see ur reply. I have no fkn idea on what was the topic anymore and i dont want to keep tracking down the post coz someone didnt quote the entire shit.

So, anyone have any good vids of anyone playing AE Ryu? Like, higher-ish level players, preferably. I swear I’ve seen all the ones out there at this point.

I’m struggling to find new AE ryu videos also. The recent videos tend to be for Evil Ryu rather then normal ryu. Since Daigo dropped Ryu, I’m not sure what player tags I should look out for anymore for AE Ryu.

@rashed: Yeah, it’s been pretty tough. I tried searching for Air, Alex Valle/Calipower, John Choi/ChoiBoy… Luken is about the only one I can find when searching for names I know.

Related: I am SERIOUSLY looking forward to lab time with Evil Ryu. Just sayin’. :karate:

@Annihilationscape: I think every ryu player out there is going to experiment with Evil Ryu, its Evil Ryu FFS! I still think that ultimately, normal ryu will be much better then Evil Ryu, but Oni looks a different beast altogether, he looks really interesting.

Hey guys, do you think console AE will have the same properties as the cabinet AE? Or will it change again to be totally different in the end? I am ok either way, just wanna know wat u guys think. If it goes the same as cabinet, I’ll just need to readapt and learn what can I do and not do with the already known properties if its the same. Or just go towards Evil side… mwahaha.

Its the same, no changes for now, but knowing capcom they will include a couple of new characters to boost sales.

hey guys just wondering how Ryu’s frame work is in AE. Did they mess with timing of combos and junk by any chance? Will I still be able to hit Cr.Light Cr.Jab Cr. HP (plinked) into heavy tatsu?

And is there like a comprehensive list of all the changes made to him in AE that I can find or something? I’d appreciate the help.

I think they left his normals aside from the cr.MK and st.MP alone for this iteration so in terms of normals I’d say that he’s still the same except for the cr.MK approach no longer a suceptible defensive poke.

I think a couple of pages in Iplaywinner have the changes. Here’s one involving Ryu:

SSF4: AE Dev Blog Talks about Ryu, Boxer, C. Viper, Cammy, and GuyChanges - iPLAYWINNER - FIGHTING GAME NEWS STRATEGY & MEDIA

Hope that helps!!! XD

oh alright sweet. Thanks. So can you elaborate just why exactly his cr.mk is different now? I hear different things but I still don’t quite understand.

From what I understand, Ryu’s cr.MK is now faster in the initial frames and recovery frames but his active frames where he hits them is now less, so it might be fast looking but it no longer is a viable poke against many thing it had advantages on and it more becomes an offensive poke rather than one that you can just leave out. Still can do cr.MK links and all just the footsies game is now changed entirely for ryu.

Oh I see. Yeah I heard something along the lines of that now us Ryu players really have to learn the spacing and junk. Hm. Alright, no problem, that’s no biggie, I think I can live with that.

The only problem would be the match up. I wonder what beats out the cr.mk now.

But I mean, they didn’t change the cr.Mp right? So then that will still be good to use.

oh and now that standing MP is cancelable, I might as well start using that too.

learning to deal with corner pressure will be fun

Might be something people will definitely will have to learn to win with Ryu now. No more scrubs!!! mwahahahahahhaha!!! XD
