okay wtf is up with every1. this may sound weird, but i was raping people friday and saturday with AE ryu. which was the 1st time i touched AE… I was raping this guys viper who used to rape me in super… o-o
And i had 2 9 win streaks and one 16 win streak there … also, i cr.mk’ed under viper’s BK perfectly fine… hes fine in AE man. I dont know wtf y every1s ditching him, you just gotta play smarter, and thats what i was doing, not stupid shit like i usually used to do xD
but yea… like i played the best ryu i’ve EVER played in my sf life so far, and its weird how its in AE where hes the worse hes ever been outta all the SF4’s xD

Guess there isn’t a definitive answer to Ryu’s cr.mk changes in AE. It’s coming for the consoles now, hence got me worried. Can anyone who has played him in AE PLEASE comment on the start-up, range of cr.mk as compared to SSF4?

its noticeably slower you cant just throw them out randomly. I think his tatsu nerf sucks the most to be honest.

I really don’t get why everyone is saying Ryu is so much worse in AE. I really don’t. The c.mk nerf simply means you can’t just spam it all the time anymore, it still works great for footsies. The Tatsu nerf was NEEDED, and I am glad it happened. I am a Ryu and Ibuki player, I never used the Tatsu escape because it was stupid cheap, and I hated it when it was done against me. Glad it’s gone. As for the Diago “death of projectile characters” yeah, ok. Once again it just means you can’t spam the sh*t out of it. You now have to actually think while playing with Ryu, wow, he totally sucks. /sarcasm :tdown:

the tatsu change takes some getting used to. Its odd using it and having him go up then straight down in front of your opponent instead of behind him

Interesting to note though, that even if ryu’s cr.mk is nerfed in which it goes out quicker and hit box only goes a lot more brief than in previous versions, he can apparently do an extra cr.mp, to his cr.mp> cr.mp> cr.hk combo. Sorta like his cr.mp has less knockback now to allow this.

I think it happens at the second or third game. But it starts off with a jump MK/HK to the 3xCR.MP> CR.HK combo.

That only works when the opponent is crouching. Ryu hsd had that since SFIV

Not vanilla, but I made a video a while back in Super showing something similar. When Daigo and Tokido played a best of 100, in one of the matches Daigo did 3 cr. MP and ended with cr. HK. Tokido and just about everybody watching was like practically stunned to see that it was possible.

I tested it out in training room and it worked, but what I wanted to see is if you could end it with cr. MK into EX hado. And it does work, even midscreen, I only did it in the corner because my execution sucks and I couldn’t do FADC into Ultra.

As far as I know, it only works on a crouching Akuma and the jump in has to be deep of course or the cr. MP will cause too much push off. I didn’t try it on the whole cast though so I don’t know if it works on anybody else.

I have also tested the 3x cr.mp. I’ve only tried it on akuma tho, and yeah he can only be crouching for it to work. Perhaps someone can test to see the whole cast ? :smiley:

I totally agree! It’s not like i used it to escape but for more pressure. It tends to float and easily get punished for it.

With the low forward (c.mk) you can’t just throw it out, you get punished for that especially by the twins. One combo and your dead.

The 3x crouching strong to sweep I have found to only work on crouching Akuma for some reason. On a crouching Viper you can do the 3 strongs but not the sweep after, same for a standing Sim.

Cool thing about the 3x cr.mp on Akuma is you can substitue the last cr.mp for cr.hp xx hk/ex tatsu (EX tatsu gets full hits) for massive damage/stun.

Been practicing cr.mp, cl.mp FADC cr.mp, cl.mp FADC cr.mp, cr.mp, cr.hp xx hk tatsu on and off for while. Never know when it could come in handy…

I seriously hope they didn’t decrease the range of Ryu’s cr.mk. I’ve been practice cr.mp, cr.mp, cr.mk xx tatsu a lot for the style points previously. For some characters, it only works from a jump-in that hits at the very top of their head. Would hate for the list of the characters it works on to decrease.

Please tell me, good sir, what methods Ken, Akuma, and Gouken heve to get out of the corner that is practically unpunishable? The immediate Tatsu after jumping, and flying all the way over to the complete other side of the screen because I’m in the corner, and I have a cheap, almost 100% safe escape method was completely ridiculous. I don’t care who you are, it was stupid, and needed to go.

P.S. I can’t wait to see you write down Akuma’s teleport so that I can laugh at you, and everyone can realize how dumb you really are. The teleport is so easily punished it’s not even funny.
