Prepare to switch mains! With the air tatsu nerf it smells like something else is gonna’ be nerfed.
So much to say but I’ll just state these things.
Ryu’s not overplayed now, and in fact one of the least played shotos (akuma and ken are played more, even gouken now). He’s been nerfed like hell. trade dp to ult was op? ok removed. so now make his dp trade with everything? k. now that his aa sucks, lets make his fireball sucks. “lets buff kens srk cause he’s a srk character and thats his thing” says one of the capcom dev’s, so they give hpsrk more inv frames. how about hadoken, ryu’s right? nahh, they nerfed ryu’s recovery and the hitbox major and buffed ken’s startup time and recovery, now they’re giving him 2 hit fireball off light punch dp! why play ryu now!
i just want a good fireball and dp, what ideal ryu is about. it always trades and it’s never in your favor. fireball builds less meter and has more recovery plus a smaller hitbox? watch him get worse.
Im Pretty sure Ryu is still overplayed, My SRK’s dont really trade at all but it would be good if they didn’t, I agree with what you say about his fire balls and SRK’s. =)
hmmmm… just having read all the changes again. Nerfed tatsu aint tha bad. I mean sure it aint great, but certain other changes make it feel better …
Roses 0 invincibility U2 YESH!!!
Cammy cant Spike from low to mid air… YESH YESH!!!
Seth, apparently, is completely different, by which Im hoping they mean he isnt total BS and easy for a complete noob to get real good at… YESH YESH
There are just 2 characters Im waiting to see some more changes to now. Abel and Bison… those 2 are WAYYYYYYY stronger than Ryu. I mean Bison is just hella safe and can basically kill you whilst turtling and Abel is just a mix-up beast (I actually consider Abel #1 but thats just me).
Oh n Akuma… if he doesnt get changes he might be my new main lol.
P.S Ibuki alt #3 ZOMG… dat shit is too cute to be denied. Might be getting back on the Ibuki for my 2nd (she used to be my main).
So I heard cross-up tatsu still works…what about “long distance” tatsu? When ryu travels pretty much the screen distance only to land with a japanese foot in his OPs face? The timing for it was very specific for the range and hit but it was great as a surprise attack (most people would think ryu would just land in their face) I am heated about the Ken buffs vs Ryu Nerfs…really? Ex Hadou after Lp shoryu—ON THE GROUND? No FADC required? If they want to help ryu with this…make his ex hadou a command move"shakunetu" I believe it was called in ALPHA(yoga motion as always) with the same start up and recovery as his normal hadou…his ex for this could be the same ex fireball we have for the normal one now. As for his normal hadou’s ex replacement just make it a charge mini Dejin that does say…one hit…but if charged fully will be unblockable. (Charge time should be 1/2 that of say goukens fully charged normal fb) lol just wishful thinking. I hope the Joudan is in it cause that will help out my U2 mind-games a bit.
I will like just some little improvement on damage scaling about his U2, is ridicolously scaled compared to Ken’s U1 that basically work in the same way
FAlv3 -> U2 must do more damage than U2 alone,not less
More damage in the air multi hits version
Actually do on the corner things like
solar plexus -> d+HP -> EX tatsu -> U2
do ridicolous low damage compared to the U2 used alone
Again, Ken’s U1 work the same but add combo add damage, here is the contrary
That’s because it doesn’t land the full animation after combos like that. And for U2 to do more damage used in a combo, they’d have to change the way the damage scaling works. I doubt it.
Is it just me or does anyone else feel this change may actually cause problems when not trying to scape but rather trying to ADVANCE on a keep-away character like Dalphsim or Akuma for example.
Every Ryu player out there knows how significantly hard a match can be vs a good knowledgeable Dalphsim player that is constantly keeping away and a good way to close distance to them quickly is with a high forward tatsu in the air.
Not a move you can abuse but certainly a very useful one in the right situation. I see this change in the mechanics of the motion might not even allow for a offensive tatsu high in the air (your tatsu will stall in the air like ex tatsu if done before reaching the highest point of your jump).
Maybe I am being a bit paranoid about it. Perhaps it is still possible if the Dalphsim is on the ground, may be a different story if he is actually in the air.
^ How do you use air tatsu VS Sim without being punished…?!
Anyway. Its become obvious to me that Ryu is overpowered because so very very many players are using him at SBO, especially in comparison to Sagat. o_0
^ why would you not just regular tatsu…? oh wait… do you mean you jump, and they if they FB you tatsu and if they dont you just land at relative safety…?
There were times where I jumped full scrren with tatsu to hit the opponent while they were fbing and when they didn’t expect it would hit, and if it’s in the corner then you can land super/ultra. It’s also really fun and satisfying.
Aye yo…Who the FUCK is Dalphsim? …are you talking about this? http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/ecco-large.jpg Lol seriously though…I never even though of the effect this would have on the sim match up…the new “hovercane” tm* will be another free fierce for Sim. They said before and at the peak…so that pretty much nerfs any foward movement at all…since Ryu’s tatsu- are performed before his decend to gain ground in SSFIV right? no more mid range crossup tatsu with this theory either…just point blank late decend cross-up tatsu. :tdown:
It can work, but I wouldn’t call it very good. Take another look at it and take note of when Sagat throws the fireball and Sagat’s meter situation. It’s after Daigo has already begun the tatsu and Sagat hasn’t got any meter yet. He read the sagat player and knew he was just chucking plasma and not paying attention and, also, that if it didn’t work, the worst he’d take for it was an uppercut. That’s a tiger shot that shouldn’t have been thrown. If he’d have seen Daigo jump, and then not thrown anything, Daigo would have eaten an uppercut. Unless you have a really good read on the player, those kinds of guesses can hurt you bigtime.
Also, from the description of the change, it doesn’t sound like you can’t do this anymore. It says tatsus before the peak of the jump, and for this you do it just at or just after the peak.
^ LOL, as though Akuma needs an escape hurricane. And anyway, he is higher tier than Ryu and I suspect that he going to go higher by comparison after AE. Personally I wouldnt blame you rocker_geek, though Ill probs still stick with Ryu myself. Hell, if they just give him 1 new thing, be it a move or something that changes his game in some tiny way that i can study, ill be happy XD
EDIT: I LOL everytime I see that Dan’s one change is a higher jumping taunt… poor bastard. “I DID IT FATHER!!!”
