Actually if you want to cover most of the screen then you have to execute tatsu before the peak as I’ve done it many times. After the peak can work too for shorter distances but you gotta get timing right. It’s something you can practise in training mode then you’d be surprised how many times you successfully land it, but there might not be a point to practice it now lol.
If they don’t give Ryu his Jodan kick or make his srk bad ass like it used to be, I’ll switch to Guy as my main. That way everybody won’t know the match up by heart and maybe I’ll get less hatemail from retards for picking an “easy” character, etc. lol

It seem Ryu has problem extending his combos. Those 2 combos above seem a little overkill.
They made it one frame link but for top players, its their bread and butter.
Meh I’ll live without the tatsu escape. It’ll make me a more resiliant player because of it. Plus ryu has good normals anyway. Yes being in the corner is disadvantageous but your normals are your friend in this case.
I agree to an extent I wish U2 had some use and yes he is kinda boring. Its 'cause he’s so balanced I guess. You can’t budge him but hes not gonna advance on you in a spectacular way. BUT when I land a combo such as f.HP, c.HP xx HP.DP I’m feeling pretty fucking good about myself and I feel thats where Ryu’s spectacularness comes from. Its destroying your opponent with damaging combos. As well as tight footsies of course. Hes fun to play when you combine these two factors to get into your opponents head and break them down but winning will always give you that feeling.
So if you’re not good at these things you’re gonna be bored and might want to move on 'cause no motivation = no persistence.
Was pretty shock initially. So checked out the other charc changes cause at the end of day, it’s abt balance. After seeing other charc changes I was like lol ryu is gg to be an even bigger beast and should be among the top 3 tier.
It’s getting harder for 1 trick ponies as gimmicks are being tone down.
I’ve been begging for this change for all shotos since day 1…air tatsu should NOT be a get out of jail free…first of all…it makes turtling so effective…and makes the game more defensive…and you have the almighty srk to get out of jail… if you think about why other characters have means of escaping because they needed it…like Sim(weak health, sucks at close range), Bison(he’s so free on wake-up without any meter), Akuma/Seth(weak in health) etc… Ryu don’t need this…and it has to go.
All I want for Ryu, honestly, is a realistic way to link something after f+MP. Right now it only is a 1F link against a STANDING opponent, which is pointless.
I just want they fix these simple things about Ultra 2
-Single hit,so it not get raped by ridicolous damage scaling
-On Counter Hit it take more, like it must be. Seem ridicolous but actually it don’t change damage in CH
-Slighty more powerfull multi hit version
-On corner possibility to combo the multi hit version after super
yea I hope it gets translated soon but I think ryu got nerfed more. I also don’t see any new moves listed so I guess Ono was lying out of his ass. Not 100% sure though
the only thing i can understand from the google translation is about the remodeled air tatsu. Theres something about a crouching kick aswell, i think its something about reducing the recover time of the sweep, but im speculating quite a lote, the translation is horrible
