what can ryu do to beat devils reverse ?
you can simply srk, or c.hp.
You can also do c.mk to make it whiff and punish with c.hp xx srk
oh thanks il try that,
would you have any tips on dealing with deejays knee pressure ?
i think the only way for us ryu to beat bison is to really make very very smart fireballs right outside his st.mk range when he is not charged… its difficult but is very possible as seen on the replays.
Are there any other characters you can use st.RH on? I know it works well on Viper.
It used to work well on Dudley but i’m not sure since ae2012 came out. Other than that i couldn’t say to be honest, my match up knowledge against Rose is the most extensive purely because i play offline a lot against a good rose player, but i’ve still got a lot to learn for a lot of the cast
What the hell do you do against good Gens? I just started playing Ryu a couple days ago and I have no clue what to do against this character. Haven’t played Ryu since the SF2 arcade days some 20 years ago and been maining Gief in SF4 so it’s quite a transition.
Would st mp be a good substitute for cr mk in the Rufus matchup since it would beat instant dive kicks preemptively while pushing him back? It may not have the range cr mk has, but i feel if rufus is spamming dive kicks it would be the better choice since cr mk tends get me punished by dive kicks…
st.HP is really good against Rufus, as it beats out low to the ground dive kicks, cr.HP, and cr.HK.
I was watching the 100 games between Daigo Ryu against Tokido Akuma.
After foward throw , Daigo is always going with jump HP set up with an OS tatsu.
I am wondering why Tokido is never trying to uppercut that. Is it some kind of safe jump vs Akuma.
I think he is doing it ambiguous and trying to make HP cross up.
Yes, it is safe. I like to walk back, whiff s.lk for timing purposes, then jump forward hp. It is pretty ambiguous and makes any uppercut whiff.
Another cool trick against Akuma is after an FADC into ultra, do a mk tatsu and then low forward into fireball as soon as possible. If Akuma does an uppercut, it will hit you once and then the rest of the hits will whiff and you can get a punish. This setup does not work if the Akuma does a lp srk, which I haven’t encountered one yet that does, so it is relatively safe.
the group that actually knows what they are talking about? lol.
About tokido akuma. Do they show inputs? maybe he was messing up a teleport that is akumas only option outside of demon.
Thx, I am surprised Ryu is able to safe jump Akuma, got to know your setup.
That setup doubles as an unblockable vs Ryu/Ken and maybe a few others but it can be crouched and auto-correct DP’d.
When a set up is refer as unblockable does it mean the opponent has a very tiny window where he has to block on one side than on the ohter side but
he could still Focus backdash out of it.
Do you know the exact set up. Is a safe jump timing that is done as ambigious as it can be ?
If they hold a direction they cannot block it. They have to tap left or right just before the attack hits. They can try to focus dash but they risk going the wrong way and dashing into your next move.
Same as the Gouki setup. f.throw, step back, whiff st.lk, j.hp. I don’t know of any airtight setup to land it though.
j. lk seems to be more consistent to me anyways lol.
Is it me or did the adon match get easier?
seem easier to me too, I think they nerf his Jaguar quick.
Yeah I played some adon player in rank and noticed I was beating that out and jaguar kick with st lk. I don’t like how lk jaguar kick crosses up.
Played a shitload of ibukis on live. Matchup feels harder than before.
st.rh is great vs zangief.
vs. DJ knee, you can always crouch-dp on reaction even though you are tempted to block it first.
gotta learn the new matchups - i actually have been having a harder time vs adon but will try more s.lk.
still, ryu has no unwinnable matchups so i’m happy about that… except u2 still god damn sucks
