How does Bison win Ryu? This match up seems very uphill for me, what can I do to against this character? Also why does Air say this is a 6-4 for Bison?
how many games have you played with bison
over 20 000 easy
Ryu turns every situation in this match to his favor, mid range I lose to his pokes, close range I lose to shoryuken, far range he gets super and its an instantaneous loss
Art said on team spooky’s stream that Ryu vs. Dhalsim is now 5-5 do you guys agree with that? I have yet to play a Dhalsim yet but what changes to Sim made this match up 5-5?
Ryu’s fireball damage increased, so trading with Sim’s limbs isn’t as bad and could be argued to even be in Ryu’s favor now. Also, the change to Air Tatsu allows Ryu to punish predicted Yoga Fires from 3/4 screen away like he could in Super.
Still doesn’t seem to be in Ryu’s favor, but definitely much better than how it was in Super. I think Sim still counters Ryu, but definitely far way from how it was in Super.
Air said that the Viper match up is much harder now. It was already hard for me to begin with but I thought viper got nerfed so it would be a bit easier.
I’m not sure why Air thinks the matchup is worse now, but st.RH is a big help against Viper for anyone that’s having trouble with her. If you do it on her wakeup, it beats EX Seismo, LK Burn Kick, and backdash, and it trades with HP Thunder Knuckle. I think EX Burn Kick beats it but it’s punishable on block so at least she’s taking a risk if you force her to use it.
What’s good all? Noticed there’s not a lot of info on the Rose match up section so i thought i’d drop the stuff that i know.
Ryu’s st.RH blows up every single one of Rose’s wake up options when timed correctly, even ex soul throw will get knocked out the air, if it’s meaty U2 will get stuffed, this applies to ex drill too, in addition it obviously catches the back dash with the second half of the animation. If they press a normal you’ll get the counterhit so you can combo into sweep even when standing now, or so i hear). I swear by this move and really does make a tough match up a lot easier. ( & unless there are hidden nerfs, st.RH is only -1 on block so its not a prob if they block it.)
cr.Mp will counterhit most pokes rose throws out after a blocked drill that would usually be safe from reversal punishing(non ex versions only) this makes the combo into sweep a lot easier (even on xbl live!) and sets you up for the above st.RH shenans, or whatever you choose to do.
Anyway, hope all this isn’t recycled info as to be completely honest i didn’t check the rest of the replies in the thread, just the match-up section itself. Been sitting on this matchup info for ages haha.
Have a good xmas guys n girls.
who the fuck is Art, lol.
I havent had the oportunity to play any dhalsim yet, but looking the changelog, its unlikely that this match up is 5-5 now. Maybe hes one of the guys that considered that matchup to be 4,5-5,5 in the previous games, so once Ryu got buffed its 5-5 now rofl
arturo sanchez
Oh i see now.
Imo hes mad if hes really serious about the matchup being 5-5. I still think hes from the group that considered this matchup to be 5,5-4,5 or 6-4 in the past and thats why now they see it as 5-5.
Any Hakan tips? I know he’s “low tier” but he’s really tricky and its not very often that I encounter one so when I do I end up getting owned. Doesn’t help that he got some major buffs now.
Do any of you guys know the rog match up really well?
What is your basic strategy for this match up?
Do you zone, do you play footsies, do you rush him down?
I just play my ususal game, zone him until I get a UKD then safe jumps and wakeup mixups,he is free on wakeup. You can stop TAP with low forward,I still do have difficulty with this matchup though.
Thanks, yeah I’ve always found this match up hard, but I’ve never got a good chance to get experience at it, I may heard over to the balrog forums and ask for some games
Can you safe jump Sagat? I remember Chris Hu saying you should do a safe jump on him with fierce punch. Seemed to work in super but now it seems like I get uppercut every single time. Was tiger uppercut buffed or maybe I’m just playing better Sagat players now? Or maybe its me. Am I not doing a safe jump correctly after a throw or sweep you jump attack him as he’s getting up, right? Also I noticed after an untechable knockdown when I try to cross him up with mk, or lk, or tatsu I get uppercut as well before when I did this he would uppercut in the wrong direction and get hit. But again it could just be that players are getting better . . .
Sagat wake up later you have to delay your safe jump after a Sweep. You can safe jump him with fierce
punch or firece hk as long as your timing is good you will be able to block that appercut.
What to do vs Juri’s j.hp? Sometimes I can DP it if it’s obvious, but usually I’m just forced to block or focus dash. Even when it’s not on my wakeup. It trades with cr.hp or even beats it sometimes. Seems like the only reliable anti-air I have if I have enough time is to use a jump back fierce or hk.
edit:
OK I just saw Naruo use close st.hp to beat it. I’m gonna play around with that to figure out the ranges and timing. Pretty sure it will lose to the cross-up version though.
OK after spending a bit of time in training mode I’ve sort of figured out the range where Ryu cannot anti-air DP Juri’s j.hp at all. A well-timed cr.hp will trade, and all other ground moves will fail.
The range is after crouch blocking this Juri series point blank: cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mp.
If performed correctly, Juri cannot be anti-aired from the ground (without trading) if she does a deep j.hp from that range. Meaning you have to meet her in the air or you have to take a slight step back or forward. The reason is because the j.hp hits almost directly on top of Ryu, and doing a DP causes it to cross up so the DP whiffs. You can’t delay auto-correct it either because it doesn’t cross-up until you do a move that moves you forward. If you take a step back you can DP it from the front. If you take a step forward you can auto-correct DP it. You can close do close st.mk to make it whiff completely but she will recover in time to block your next attack.
