Its back to using meter to setup U1 or praying to god that your opponent is stupid enough to jump in so you can land U1 again. I think I may be contempt with using U2 still as an offensive tool for approaching from full screen or mid screen though.
that’s a dumb way of seeing U1 lol.
It’s more like “350+ damage if I hit it” sort of thing.
and secondly you shouldn’t really be relying on your ultra in this game. you should try to win before getting your ultra lol.
Ive been playing Rose at round 1 and super arcade almost every days since they got it. Here are my thoughts on ultra 2…
Its garbage now. Seriously it pisses me off. I have started to focus on just winning without the ultra. I pretend I don’t have it anymore and focus on normals and getting my links together. Shes still really good in AE and Im going to keep her as my main.
It’s garbo.
I’ve only played it like 4 times, but meh, I can tell it’s not working out.
The offensive uses haven’t changed…so now since there’s no reason to save it for wakeup emergencies, I think I’ll just get more aggressive and activate when I see a good spot from advantage/neutral to run something. I’ll use U1 more I think, but still default to U2. Defense was just the braindead easy use of the move, and I don’t even think the intention they had for it…at least not to the degree it ended up being.
Even though it may seem that that was their intention (considering the balance option rose doesn’t have a glorified wake up) it wasn’t imo. It was a fairly weak ultra, so it seemed that that was one of their intention.
They just killed it.
I haven’t tried hp reflect ultra 1 yet though. let’s see lol.
yea considering the orbs combined at full Ultra, it’s still weak compared to her U1 or other Ultras. So basically nerfing it for a wakeup option or just for defense defeats the main purpose of the ultra to begin with.
It was there to help her in bad matchups and wakeup game. Now it’s just extra combo damage, Oki pressure, to get in, or to walk someone to the complete other side.
Lol this remindes me of myself in sf4 after I lost to chun li jumping in on my ultra. Just said fuck it its me and the super meter. The ultra was just there to flash in the corner and let me know i was gettin my ass kicked.(though i think it helped make me a little better) Now I am bit smarter about her ultra’s especially U1.(Anticipation seems like the best way to land it)
Question would anybody be willing to takea damage nerf to U2(dont shoot!) if they left it exactly as is? I personally think the damage was pretty fair for the job it did, and would honestly hate for the damage to be lowered…but to keep U2 as is i might be willing to take that.
it honestly doesn’t even need a damage nerf to stay the way it is in super. People just need to stop bitching and stop challenging U2 and take the chip unless you have a move that beats it. This all goes into baiting moves and mind games. Which most players coming into SF4 don’t have. (hence why U2 seemed so stupid to most players from the get go.) Anyone mindlessly trying to do something like a crossup or knockdown throw when she’s sitting on U2 deserves the damage they get. But it also means Rose players shouldn’t be relying on wakeup U2 all the time to save their asses either.
Honestly, I’ll take orb chip into a possible throw mixup rather than taking 2 orbs as a hit into a soul throw or combo>super anyday.
lol yep. Gotta undo that habit and block even more.
So U2 isn’t coming out in 0 frames and therefore meaty attacks may get us? If so, damn that sucks lol. I use it a lot to bait people to hit me, and if an orb can’t stop their hand/foot from slapping me in the face, I may have some difficulty. Was it that you can’t block right away?
I mean, if you can still block then I really don’t care haha. That’d be my only problem, if I activate and someone were to lets say EX uppercut on reaction after the long ultra startup. I block every time against characters with an invincible getup move in fear of eating it. = no more orbs.
Either way, I think I’ll stick with U2 simply because with punish ultras like U1, I tend to be a paranoid noob and punish things that arent even there lol. I’ll just have to make some adjustments. It’s still good to deter people from rushing in me thinks.
But from what I’ve been reading, I should learn to get used to U1. This may sound like a total idiotic question, but how exactly do I use U1? Besides punishing people who jump, or anticipating people to stick out attacks? I’m pretty bad at both lol. (Answer here is… get better) but yeah, any tips for U1?
I didn’t start picking up rose until SSF4, so I always had U2 to fall back on. imo it’s probably one of the best ultras in the game in terms of usefulness, but with that goin away somewhat, I feel like I know little to nothing about U1.
Punishing,Jump-ins and Anticpation are pretty much it. You can combo from Ex.SSpark FADC. Anticipating is the best way but its kind of hard and some times just doesnt pay off, you can lose to jump-in every now and then anticipated or not, which is ass. With U1 you really almost have to think a step or 20 ahead and hope you were right and that they dont hit you at weird angle or just as your about to catch them or better yet that Ex.SThrow doesnt come out. (Super Fucking Annoying 4)
Edit: Dont get me wrong The Anticipating can pay off (I have some gems in my replays of U1) its just that its not as frequent/easy as what you get with U2.
As long as U2 can combo after HP/MP spark FADC Imma be happy.
did they change anything to lp spark recovery, someone said that it felt that they added more recovery to sparks
Di,
Hold on… Did Orbs get slower start up or faster start up? I keep hearing something about a frame being added on to start up then I’m told it’s gotten a frame faster… Which is it?
The orbs come out faster, its just that you have 3 frames where you cannot defend.
Can you attack during those 3 frames?
I don’t think so.
you can’t do anything since they’re recovery frames. Which is the point of said frames.
Think he meant the other guy.
