I mean…nothing’s even set in stone yet. Just the first loc test.
though she really doesn’t need this. Pretty much defeats the purpose of stoping meaty nonsense or being able to show your opponent to not do something stupid when I have meter. But whatever. again, first loc test and capcom seems intent on nerfing people who don’t need nerfs rather than buffing people who need buffs.
Thank you for clarifying Rose, the way it was addressed was a bit unclear. As Shin Oni said, it is only a location test, and we don’t know whether this change will come in the Arcade Edition or not. If it is, Rose is going to have a more difficult time against rushdown characters, and there will certainly not be as much leniency in terms of when to use U2. Since Vega has a viable reversal now(again, only a location test), this might make the match-up even harder for her specifically.
u2 needed a buff not a nerf. sigh lets just take away one of the best things rose has going for her. Oh well maybe they’ll boost in her other areas like damage maybe…
Based on what I’ve seen, I think the guy was under the impression that if you don’t block the orbs would save you. It sounds like nothing has changed, because similar to Deejay and other unpopular characters, no one knows what the hell they’re talking about, but know alittle based on experience.
We’ll see as the days go on, but I don’t see why Capcom would nerf this ultra after its not very powerful, but it arguably the second best ultra in the game behind Big Bang Typhoon. It doesnt kill, but it makes Rose better imo.
I always block anyway after activating unless I’m going to combo. But if I can’t use it as a wake up option anymore I might switch back to U1, since that’s the biggest reason why I use it, not for all those big flashy combo’s that are possible.
I think ultra 1 at the moment has 4 frames of invincibility, not 5. When people say about a move that it is a “5 frame move” (like cr.HP), it actually means that it hits on the 5th frame. So 4 frames of invincibility, then on the 5th the ultra is activated.
Anyways what Dogma said is very reasonable. Pretty much anybody who doesn’t main Rose does not understand the properties of her ultra, so saying “it has lost all invincibility” could mean anything depending on what misconception the writer has. Maybe he just saw the ultra trade.
After all, I don’t think Capcom could consider Rose overpowered, common agreement seems to be she is medium/high tier, and in Japan she is even less played than in the west.
Don’t expect much. I don’t know Capcom’s way of thinking but I think they are doing this to make Rose good.
Pre SSF4:
SSF4 Producer: "Let’s give Rose’s U1 juggle properties to make some players happy!"
SSF4 game designer: "Absolutely! It wouldn’t even make her too good, it would just simply gave her a reliable way with 2 meters to combo into U1!"
SSF4 Producer: "What the fuck? Rose’s U1 combo’d from HP Reflect does 500 damage. It’s too good"
SSF4 game designer: "Definitely. I’m gonna take it out because it would make Rose broken."
SSF4 Producer: "You’re exactly right kid. What should we do for Rose’s U2?"
SSF4 Game Designer: "I don’t know. How about a grab ultra where Rose will put 2 cards together and then smash them together on the opponent for some massive damage."
SSF4 Producer: "Absolutely not! Let’s give her her orbs that seemed harmless and she gets at every beginning of the match as her ultra! Let’s make it too good to get the Rose players’ hyped up. We know we’re gonna make changes to the game! So of course we’re going to nerf it when the Arcade Edition comes out!"
SSF4 Game Designer: “ABSOLUTELY! That’s exactly what we’re going to do! All for the LOLZ!”
I’m going to say this much, and hold onto the fact that we don’t have all the info.
If they did indeed make it like Dhalsim’s ultra, where you can no longer do the ultra and block even if you were getting hit, I’ll still stomach the ultra if they do not make the orbs disappear on hit. Either on block, or 10 seconds of the ultra is the fairest way to do it, seeing as Dhalsim’s fireball doesn’t suddenly disappear if you kick him in the jaw.
The alternative, which we very well might be facing, is a bleak one otherwise. However, staying quiet about it isn’t going to help, so we really need someone to get the facts straight and a way to make our voices heard.
As soon as I read the first nerfs that were mentioned I knew U2 was going to get nerfed hard. Might as well stop bitching about it, it was one of the most (relatively) broken moves in the game.
y’all remember when Super was getting worked on, might have been a month before the game was released, and we saw Rose’s backdash was much shorter? And what happened when Super came out? Rose barely got a nerf (sweep on block). No matter how Rose’s U2 turns out IN THE FINAL BUILD, it’s not going to be garbage.
