Happy savings! :bgrin:

Just a quick question, I pre-ordered Star Trek from Amazon and it shipped the day of release, so I didn’t get it till 3 days after release. Do you know if any of those places have it on your doorstep on the release date?

Oh snap, thanks. I’m down for Newegg’s deal for a 360 copy. Good looks.

Good question. I’d like to know too. 'Cause for the extra money, I don’t mind heading over to GameStop to pick up a copy if I’m not going to receive my copy from Newegg on the day of release. There’s no way I’m going to be three days behind everyone else.

Typically you’ll receive it on the day it comes out.

Sup Art.

Know of any deals for us Canadian folk? :stuck_out_tongue:

Here’s a trick you can do if you got extra cash.

  1. Pre-Order SSF4 online.
  2. On release day, if you still haven’t received your game, go to your local video game store and buy it.
  3. Enjoy SSF4!
  4. Once you receive SSF4 in the mail, take the game UNOPENED and with your RECEIPT back to the store you went to and get a Full Refund (no money lost)!
  5. Win!

The only thing that could screw this up is if the SKU number is somehow different on both packaging, which is highly unlikely.

Good point, I’ll look into it!

I received my preordered Tekken 6 from Amazon on release date, but I have no idea if that was a freak occurrence or not, it’s the only thing I’ve preordered from them. Hopefully it’s a regular thing.

So based on people’s experiences, would you suggest ordering from amazon instead of pre-ordering at a local EB or something?

If you want to be safe and get it on launch, I’d pre-order at a B&M and pick it up. The only thing stopping you in that scenario is a meteor hitting the delivery truck.

A lot of people talked about ordering SF4 online and then not getting it until a few days after, due to shipping problems. Meanwhile, everyone else got the game the day of (or found someone who broke street date and got it early) and was playing.

For any game that I definitely want to have on release day, I personally wouldn’t order online unless you have absolutely no choice. But that’s just me.

Your best bet is to just walk up to the shelf of Best Buy the day of and pluck it and take it home. I usually order games off Gamestops website as I usually do receive it the day of unlike Amazon although the shipping for that method is $9.99 but things could be worse I really don’t have much time to go the store working 6 days a week.

I recall having problems picking up regular SF4 at EB because they received their shipment late (or it was in the store but they didn’t bother to call). It has more to do with who actually ships the games to them.

Basically, it’s more convenient to get the game in-store, but don’t rule out the possibility of delays. In my experience, VGP has been very reliable since they use a different company to ship their games. When SSF4 is out, call up VGP and see if you can get the game at their store.

Can we get a section for UK pre-orders in the OP?

Just to get you started:

Amazon
(360) - Pre-Order 24.99 w/Free Shipping
(PS3) - Pre-Order 25.53 w/Free Shipping

Edit: Beat me to it.:razzy:

IF Amazon offers “release day delivery” for the title, you will get it the day it comes out. A few ppl at work have gotten games on monday when they release on tuesday, too. Sometimes you get it earlier.

However, Amazon doesn’t always offer release day delivery. They make that decision after they see how many people are ordering it. For example, MW2 and Demon’s Souls, yes but Uncharted 2, no. Weird.

If you’ve pre-ordered w/ amazon and they do move it to release day delivery, you get that upgrade free if you’re a Prime member. I think it’s a few bucks if you’re not.

UK

Shopto.net
(360) - Pre-Order 21.86 w/Free Shipping
(PS3) - Pre-Order 21.86 w/Free Shipping

However

they probably will change the release date closer to the release if it’s wrong

It also depends a lot on your location, too. I remember preordering SF4 the day of at the 34th St Gamestop location (Herald Square) because apparently it was going to be the first gamestop in NY to get the damn game. Apparently we did get it first around the afternoon, something about flight delays. Thing is, since there was no real street date, you couldn’t find it until the day of. If it did have a street date, the game is usually given to the stores ahead of time so they can stock up on it, etc etc.

Be careful with Shopto, they’re security isn’t great. My card details were cloned after using their site and I’m not the only one it’s happened to. Apart from the security issue they’re usually great.

Thanks for the responces guys, appreciate it.
