I have been, IMO, royally burned regarding this “pre-order” system.
I ordered the collector’s edition of SFIV direct off of Capcom’s website and through the company they use “DigitalRivers”. Decent retail, mind you, with free shipping. I was informed that I ordered in time before their expected shipment quantities were depleted and all was good. A month later, I received an email stating that they could not fulfill all pre-orders due to high demand and that mine was now on backorder. All the hype surrounding the collector’s edition for PS3 and how they would be sooooooooooooooo hard to find. A couple of days after the release, and I found it along with plenty of other copies at my local GameCrazy for the same retail. Another week passed and I received my copy from DigitalRiver which I in turn sold on eBay for around $120.00USD.
Contemplated pre-ordering Resident Evil 5 Collector’s Edition as well. Found plenty of copies of that in town as well a few days on and after the release date.
My point… why bother pre-ordering on something this huge?.. Retailers would be idiots if they did not have the inventory planned and on hand for something of this magnitude. Personally, I have faith and am banking on these morons in this current enconomy to vye for my dollar enough to see to it that sufficient inventory is on hand.
Looks like retailers have already been given the heads up on the RRP of SSFIV by Capcom.How else would they know to what to be charging?With regular game releases where the RRP is usually about 39.99 pounds(59.99 dollars)then retailers can guess but SSFIV was specifically stated to be ‘coming in at a lower price point’.Online Retailers wouldn’t just guess on this price point.
Also I didn’t think the game would be that cheap.22 quid for this is an absolute steal considering that the game is almost a fully fledged sequel in terms of content.I just hope that real game shops have it for this price.They tend to have crappy deals compared to the internet.
Mass Effect 2 im getting the first day it comes out, the CE Edition, idk about Super SFIV, is there gonna be a CE for this one?
If there is one, Capcom better go all out on it. The SF4 CE was just disappointing.

i guess nobody has heard as to whether there will be a special edition version of SSF4? i would order the normal one now but would rather have a spec ed one if they end up doing one.
Then Capcom is really jacking all our money then.
Well. . . I hope there’s a better package announced soon. I want an art book and . . . not a strategy book. . . but maybe a backpack, or messenger bag, and I’d like a car sticker (lol) and a figurine. . . at least. I’ll buy it.
I reserved mine for 39.99 USD at my local Gamestop. 
If you’re in the UK it might be a good idea to consider waiting for the prices at Zavvi.com to drop, they’ve got the RRP listed as 50, which is crazy, but when I ordered Borderlands from them, I got the xbox version for 25 I think, and I got it about a week before the release date, so I was playing it before it was out in America.
For you UK players, the cheapest I’ve found is shopto.net, who at last check had it listed for a mere 21.95. Rather snazzy.

For anyone in South East Asia. Play-Asia has the Asian versions up for pre-order at $39.90, with optional free shipping. Release dates are still t.b.a. though.
