SSF4 AE Guy Changes

If Combofiend sticks with Guy. He has been playing Makoto recently I believe. :frowning:

Kiyo playing Guy in AE

I hope he comes to the game center’s I’m playing at since he tends to stick to ones a little far for me. The good thing is, using the AE online system, I can see if he’s playing and where and make a trip to that game center… I’ve actually spoke to him a bunch of times (Zero 3 days) so he may remember me too.

He’s actually 5th with Guy right now, 24th in Osaka with 24,455BP. 502 matches, 389 wins, 77.49% win ratio.

I recall seeing quite a few matches with Kiyo in them… thats sort of wierd :stuck_out_tongue:
Anyways, if you go out of the way to go play/find him, record a match or two (if you have a camera). If not, no biggie

I actually created this channel on youtube:

YouTube - OsakaSSFIVAE’s Channel

Seems I need to get a lot closer with my iphone, or take my SANYO handy cam along  They’re a bit funny about filming in arcades though.

The changes to Guy’s overhead are strong. Today I managed to link Cr.lk after the last hit of the overhead (f+mp) on crouching Dictator. I specifically recall it being a normal hit as well, you just have to throw it out early so it hits once, as late as possible.

Doors have really opened up for Guy in terms of combos all because of his new crouching short. Elbow Drop (manual, Command ED still sucks) combos are smooth and consistent regardless of whether your opponent stands or crouches now.

I was waiting for some news about comboing after overhead.Very good news.

Just to clarify his 2 hit overhead elbow ? If so was it a CH ? That would be pretty cool.

Names of players?Anyone know how to translate Kanji?

I assume one of them is Kiryu.

First one is Kiryu (checked his AE vid its him)

No idea for the others… wasn’t Kiyo supposedly third in the top guys?

GOOGLE TRANSLATOR

  1. Mon Norinomiya Yanagi
  2. left foot Dumitoresuku
  3. v v legendary geek (Otaku)

Yeah thats a bad translation because #1 is Kiryu!
? = Tsuki (Moon)
? = Miya (Temple)
? = Ki (Normally they’re a second kanji for say Era but with just one it’s only ā€œKiā€
?? = Ryu (Dragon ?)

#2 - Dumitrescu’s left foot (lol famous Romanian footballer)
#3 - Legendary Otaku.

I think these guys are both in smaller locations.

lol at Kiryu’s translation, it’s because the 2 middle kanji together are actually a place… It doesn’t know it’s a name (which are often read with Japanese reading and not Chinese like some compounds)

wait wait… so what you’re saying is… meaty overhead > cr. short works? shadows of A1 guy? this makes me want to laugh maniacally.

If that’s the case, then Guy’s pressure on wake ups just got a lot better.

Just curious: is that OTK, the old CvS2 player? He was one of my favorite players. :wonder:

Glad to hear meaty OH->c.lk works…I hope someone can confirm this works on everyone… This is all guy needs he already has many strong KD options…Am surprised to see there is still no Guy player with master rank…Guy seems solid as hell…

aw man OTK was my favorite cvs2 player. entire reason i started using kyo and put him down as my anchor. and why i even learned how to use rock. i’d really like to see him play AE.

I dunno if this works, I certainly don’t remember it working since I’ve used cl.short after meaty OH a few times… I was meant to be playing all day today but my Son is sick :< oh well.

I dunno about OTK, but will try and find out.

Guy in AE. Well, he’s a good character but I still think he’s low/mid tier at best. Some of the matchups I struggle with most are Gief (though I’m playing #1 Gief in Japan from Vanilla), Honda, Chun, Yun, Yang, Fei… Man there is a god tier Rufus I get smashed by too and NEVER usually have so much trouble with him.

My wish for Guy in AE was autocorrecting spin kick… oh well.

Well you can autocorrect the spin kick if you do it late. Or in the opposite direction that’s how I usually get it to autocorrect.

I dont think Yun or Yang would be too difficult especially since Divekicks can be beaten by normals rather easily due to the twins small hitbox for the move. My guess for Yun and Yang match up will be a 5/5, probably matter on who has a better pressure and reaction game. If the twins have low stun as well this match up may even be in Guy’s favor then.

Also the twins can’t even use palm against Guy it will beaten by MK Tatsu, EX Run slide if it truly has projectile invincibility and EX Run overhead, which shuts down their meter building.
