SSF4 AE Cammy Changes and Discussion

Im a big fan of Blizzards buff buff buff approach to balancing apposed to this nerf nerf nerf but whatever. Cammy will still beast as long as she can do a strike pretty close to the ground.

My guess is that we wont be able to do a really late normal CS at the end of an empty jump to bait throw either :frowning: I love that mix-up.

We heard “easier to combo” talk when people were testing super for the first time and barely anybody’s frame data changed. I have a feeling that the informant was just hype about hitting his combos…

Lol dis thread. I really think if anything they’ll just make it work like Adon/Juri/Makoto’s “instant” dive kicks, I thought it was weird how they didn’t let any of them do theirs like Cammy could. Give me like +20 frames on a delayed tkcs so my slow ass can hit confirm into 300 dmg all day fo free. Seriously, intsant TKCS loses or trades to a crouch tech against most of the cast anyways when they add another normal to the tech like cr. mp. Hell or people like Fei just beat it with cr. lk, lololol.

TKCS loses to anti divekick tech but not even 1/2 the cast has an option to do it. The reason TKCS is so scary is because once people start teching with cr.mp+throw, it opens up Cammy’s CH game. Most normals used to beat TKCS have REALLY slow startup compared to cr.lk. So when people start teching with cr.hp+tech or cr.mp+tech, Cammy’s frametraps work great and lead to CH combos. If someone techs with normal crouch tech, frametraps are A LOT harder to land but you have TKCS to blow up the cr.lk. If TKCS is removed then not only does Cammy’s throw punishing game suffer but also her throw/CH game. Cammy doesn’t lose to down-back but if TKCS is removed and something else isn’t put in place, then losing to down-back will be real.

I’m also finding funny that if they increase the cancelable frames on Cammy’s normals to make combos easier as well as remove TKCS they will really have changed what made Cammy, Cammy. TKCS takes practice to be able to hit consistently, combo and use as a delayed TKCS in spots. Her combos off of standing fierce require dexterity her links all require great timing. These difficult to execute techniques are the basis of her game. It’s what allows a Cammy player to take pride in taking say only 4 of 10 against a Shoto or Boxer.

“Hey I still beat you a few times with a difficult to execute character” is pretty satisfying.

They ared taking Cammy’s soul if this sticks. (Hope it doesn’t)

Increased accessibility is a good thing from Capcoms point of view, because it brings in more people and you must raise your mindgames to stand out. It’s not like Cammy or any other SSF4 character is too easy to master.

as Wedge said, maybe they changed IATK mechanic in a similar way as Adons/Juri/Viper one.

If the removal of TKCS stays, I’ll miss it dearly. No one else may agree, but I think it’s also a big part of Cammy’s footsies. I’d still play her, regardless of the possible change.

If it does go through, it’s either going to be that or it’s going to be like shotos’ air tatsu is, where the qcb buffer doesn’t do anything at all for it. I doubt Capcom will do anything to the input leniency involving stored commands, because that’s a universal thing.

And yeah… “Normals seem easier to combo.” That statement is far to vague to make anything of it.

You don’t have to TKCS to do those trials. They can be done by doing a jump-in Cannon Strike.

If they take away my tkcs I fucking quit. I FUCKING QUIT. I took so much time to learn them proper.

Calling TKCS a glitch is still far from accurate. The fact that EX TKCS can combo into another EX (while non EX does not IE no infinite combo) suggests that if a “glitch” it was discovered early on and accounted for. I’m still hoping this is a temporary situation and that while Cammy isn’t an extremely popular character enough of a stink will be raised to get them to reconsider.

I’m not so worried about it being a location “test” that can have reversed desicions, as I am worried that there aren’t enough Top Cammy players over there to make it an issue. So by all means let’s all keep whining!!!

I hope they make it an issue. I finally learned to do it faster. Its not a glitch at all. If it was why was it not removed when IV turned into super?

I never use TKCS to build meter and don’t spam it on people’s wake-up, in fact I use regular strike like 10 times more often, but its still major league bullshit if its gone.

I probably do this more too, but I’ve been making an effort to get instant dives down better.

its a fundamental change to the character… Cammy wont be cammy anymore…

i play Super Street Fighter because i play THIS CAMMY!.. i enjoy SSF4 not because of this “down-back-fireball-dp” happy game… its because i enjoy playing cammy the way she is NOW.

i dont really get the meter building complain… TKCS build so little meter its pathetic!

The only thing that would make this justifiable is if CS was an overhead now. And I KNOW that’s not happening. Also they should give her a CS cancel to her hooligan combination like in cvs2. Too bad. Without cammy there’s really not many interesting characters in SSF4 for me except viper and she’s even harder to use than cammy.

That about sums it up, she can’t setup anything without tkcs. You can literally sit and crouch tech all day and she couldn’t do anything about it besides maybe a delayed CS with it’s week long recovery. I guess I could FAD…aw dammit I spent all my meter on ex tkcs that got blocked…ah well

This is going to be an awkward adjustment for me since TK Strike is in my muscle memory, I’ll probably mistakenly do it out of habit constantly. And that was really handy against Abel as well…

EDIT: But oh well, it may not be final.

Even though Cammy is my favorite SF character, the removal of TKCS basically kills one of her main offensive tools. Might be time to scroll through the character select screen for a new main and put Cammy back to Alt status if this change sticks.
