I am starting to play AE2012 again and Iām trying to pick up Yang again (used him for a couple of months in AE), but Iām pretty horrible and extremely rusty on the execution end. Can you guys help me get better and critique my gameplay? Below is a small set with a Viper player I ran into in Endless. I thought I would post this here because I would like the insight from how Viper handles this match up. I really donāt have much exposure to the character, but I feel like its a character that I need a lot of practice and insight on. Anything will help. Thank you in advance!
I donāt know a whole lot but I will say what I do know. To counter his elbow drop use standing close medium kick. Watch out on his wake up game I believe he can stuff a lot of vipers burn kick set ups when he has some meter. His frame traps are really good so just be patient and block/ try to memorize his patterns so you know when to tech or reversal
For Guy:
Get on him and lock him down lol !
This matchup is a matchup of who gets on who first and locks them down
-Donāt try stuffing the elbow drop with standing medium kick most often then not youll get mega stuffed into full combo knockdown safe jump presser, the only time you should attempt to stuff this is when guy is literally flipping on the top of your head if heās coming down donāt attempt to stuff it.
-Safe jump guy after a forward throw by dashing twice then J.RH or J.FP do not option select ex seismo because his ex tatsu type move will beat it. alot of the matchup has to do with baiting that dumb move out lol and punishing him heavily for using it.
-Guys willl attempt to beat your burnkick mixups by using c.mk just delay your burnkicks a bit to beat them with it or use SJ lk burnkicks to land on top of their heads.
-Do not jump in on guy his c.mp stuffs alot of stuff if you jump in use Jumpin FP it has a better angle for dealing with it
-In the corner you after forward throw double dash jump roundhouse i believe this is fake crossup or crossup RH. Check the thread for unblockables there are quite a few setups for guy
-Do not ex seismo at sweep distance he stuffs it right at the tip and good guys will know this.
-Be wary of Guys ultra 2 you cannot safe jump this
-frame trapping guy is useless he can mash crouch tech all day viper has no answer to his 3 frame crouching lk only frame trap after burnkick with st.mp into feint or some sort of bait

For Dhalsim:
You have to turtle Dhalsim Until You have an opening and blow him up! lol
This is the Cat and the Mouse matchup! hehe
This matchup is a matchup of turtling finding an opening and killing him.
-React to his fireball by Seismo followed by SJ Burnkick it builds meter and brings you right too him Dhalsim cannot fireball in this matchup make him pay for doing this!
-Do not Burnkick in like an idiot choose your burnkicks wisely he can slide under and use his limbs to stuff them from fullscreen distance.
-When you get dhalsim cornered they will try to teleport out on reaction( to seismos or SJ Burnkick) maintain a distance and bait the teleport so you can punish with standing medium punch or F TK.
-There is a very nice unblockable setup on dhalsim in the corner after a FFF into Meterless dash Sweep, seismo feint Jump MK ( its in the Unblockable/Fake crossup Thread posted by Krone)
-Option select Ex Thunderknuckle on dhalsims who wish to teleport youll make sure they never do this again lol on wakeup
-Do not get knockdown! This why i say turtle first although dhalsim doesnāt hit very hard however because viper has low healthā¦ one ultra mix up is really all dhalsim needs to do very decent damage!
-Do not ex seismo at sweep distance he stuffs it right at the tip and good Dhalsims will know this.
-He has a fat hitbox so after backthrow try some nice Jump Rhs mixups
-After Forward throw you can do the shoto ambiguous crossup SJ RH on Dhalsim as well ( After throw, Dash walk a bit forward SJ RH)
-After FFF Meterless Dash Sweep you can safe jump by doing a Fierce TK Feint Jump in FP
-Try doing things like Fierce Feintā¦ walk up a bit Fierce Feint Fierce Combo if its counter hit dhalsim is literally 1 hit away from stun lol its stupid things like this that dhalsim players hate about the match up but i canāt blame them viper hits like a truck! lol.
-Using Overhead is a good idea to get that last hit of stun or to go over a predicted slide!
-Jump RH is such a great tool against dhalsim it beats alot of his limbs air to air especially if you do it early for the active frames and on counter hit it hits pretty hard.
Any tips vs. grapplers? T Hawk specifically? His normals are so dumb.
Oh yeah, if Dhalsim hits you with an instant j.fierce, thatās punishable on hit with a Seismo.
Forgot to mention that thank you Ryuga I practice with Snafoo almost weekly so i thought i would give some insights on the matchup to help some vipers out ill post some info if requested for other matchups

So, Iām learning Viper on the side, I really love her design overall. Iām a Makoto player so I love going nuts on people.
Iām somewhat okay with the execution, I have FFF and instant air burnkicks down, meterless FADC not so much. But Iām working on it.
I have a question about the Juri match up. I feel lost playing it because of Juri ultra low profile. Even when sheās just crouching, Iām having a hard time hitting the superjumps Burnkicks from normal pressure. Add to that her crMK which make her litterally hump the floor and I just donāt hit many.
Also Fierce TK whiff a lot if she space herself right on knockdown, which make me scare to wake up with anything but blocking or ex seismo.
Any advice ? For this match up or generally against character who can make burnkicks whiff ?
To me the Viper vs Juri matchup is on Juriās favor.
Juriās pokes > Viperās pokes (although, this could be said about almost the entire castā¦)
Her c.MK is very low profile and can be used to avoid BKs and some setups (i.e. back throw setups)
c.MK on Viperās wakeup can evade HP TK and stuff EX seismo is some cases.
Her counter is an option to get out of mixups as well along with escapingā¦
I feel it is difficult to zone her because of her dive kick and forward dash speed.
Because of Viperās poor normals, Juri has some legit pressure.

Granted this Juri doesnāt block, but you can see how Latif approaches the matchup. Donāt just burn kick. You have to be a bit random or unpredictive. If the Juri is whiffing c.MK trying to preemptively avoid your BKs, then whiff punish her with your c.MK or c.HK.
Hi guys, Iām curious - what do you think of Viper vs Honda match ? there are a lot of oppinions on this one, some say Honda beats Viper very bad, others - even(ish), and some that Viper beats Honda. So, how do you think this match works ?
There is a reason Dieminion picks Honda against Viper players. Cannot punish non-HP headbutt on block, therefore easily abused. Viper could neutral jump / jump back or react. Neutral jump / jump back being the best option as reacting with HP TK usually results in a trade not in Viperās favor (HP TK = 70 dmg < headbutt = 200). HP headbutt can be punished with LP super (lol). Viper CAN chip with seismo after blocking headbutt, but this can easily be avoided / jumped over / EX headbutt.
Solid 6-4 Hondaās favor imo.
If he spams neutral jump fierce and isnāt spacing it properly, you can punish with any crouching attack of your choice on his trip guard but if its a honda that knows what theyāre doing theyāll know they can just change his trajectory.
neutral jump, block, overhead, sj lk burn kick is your friend. other then that, its alot like the other charge character matchups that is reacting to when they have charge or not.
