My understanding of the Bison match is to get in as quickly as possible and then rape him as quickly as possible…If this doesn’t happen I usually lose lol
One thing though is to stay outside LK.ScissorsKick range if the Bison is spamming these & just block, LK will whiff & MK/HK versions are unsafe.
I see, thanks guys. But how exactly would I effectively punish his teleports, especially when I’m mid-screen? Do I need to just anticipate it and have fast reflexes?
Hi Banana and all other Vipers, against Bisons Teleport i usually do this:
Safe jump, HK --> HK burn kick, If he teleports the HK burn kick will hit, If he dont teleport the HK will hit infront(wich he might block) but the burnkick will still comeout and cross him up. If he reversals with ex flying against you bullshit (dont know the name of it) then ur burnkick will come out and he’ll miss
However you can OS ex Thunderknuckle aswell
Hope this helps, gl.
If you (or anyone) is interested… I happened to play an uber run-away Bison today. 3 matches in my Battle log if you want me to upload em somewhere.
Disclaimer - they’re not exciting matches - I’m not Latif or Wolfkrone but I can deal with most of the different ghey styles of Bison play.
Against Bison there’s a lot of little tricks and strategies you have to do depending on the other player’s habits. The best os for his teleport though is mp seismo when you safe jump him. Also once you have him blocking mixup the length of your string, what I mean by this is instead of always going for cl short to cl strong for the 2 frame frame trap or cl short cl short cr strong for pressure you have to sometimes keep chaining to cr to shorts just so he can lose his charge in trying to reversal through your frame traps. This applies to all charge characters. Also sjc back rh flame kick beast his ex psycho crusher for those situations where you know he’s going to use it and you want to discourage him.
hey i am an ok blanka player looking for some good vipers to train against add me with message xbx or psn onealskey
Can you guys give me tips on Guy matchup? For example, what do you look for in the match, what you have worry when your doing pressure and how you deal with it (OSs). Basically anything will do, thanks in advance.
I don’t think you can OS his ex tatsu (maybe safe jump into OS fierce TK? But I have a feeling that would trade), so your best bet is probably to just safe jump him and keep your blockstrings tight. I dunno, I never get too upset when Guy gets an ex tatsu off, because it puts both of you at full-screen, and all Guy did was cause a little bit of damage to reset the situation. It’s not like you have to worry about being FADC’d into ultra.
Here are other recent posts that answered some help on the Guy matchup:
Thank you TheFragile.
I just didn’t understand how this setup works:
"Also there is some mid-screen shenanigans against him … if he blocks low, you can do in his guard, 2HP, HK BK (the BK will cross up only if he is blocking low) --> then HP TK or U1."
Definitely learned a couple things. Thank you.
On topic(regular BK crossups), here’s an old but good vid:
http://www.mmcafe.com/nico.html#http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16531022
All characters. Notice that it doesn’t mean that it works on all characters!
Thank you Gutabo.
Thanks for the video. I can’t get it to work. I’ve tried the ones against chunli (00:50) but no crossup. Same with the others. I’ve tried both mk & hk bks. I jump in with roundhose, cr. lk, mk or hk but I either hit the front (mk) or go over them (hk). What gives? I don’t understand the language so I don’t know what she is saying.
I can assure you that those setups still work. They are just rather impractical.
1st setup: j.HK, c.LK xx MK BK (HP TK)
2nd setup: j.HK, c.HP xx HK BK (U1)
Try aiming your j.HK for Chun’s forehead.
Found something interesting today vs Dictator in a ranked match:
I did a forward throw, immediate dash forward, waited half a beat (hard to say exactly how long), and basically did an unsafe super jump HK (he had ultra 1 and 1 bar). Anyway, he sniffed it out and woke up with ultra 1, so I mashed EX seismo feint, which covered me for the first hit of his ultra while still giving me time to HP TK him out of the ultra altogether.
I feel like this tech has some potential. I’m definitely going to think more about whose ultras/wake up moves I can use this on.
Btw, I didn’t EX seismo feint until Dictator’s ultra animation started, so apparently no option select is needed.
OMFG this is awesome! For the ones that have to start with low you can jump in rh, pause, c.mk etc or j.lp/lk straight into c.mk.
Im having issues with vega…In viper common comfort zone…His hopkick beats my exsiesmo and burn kicks mixes with slide and neutral jumps = a hard time for me no matter who the vega is OH and i get mixed up by wall dives(not on knockdown even) any help? this seems to be the toughest MU for me at the moment.
Your jumping :mp: is a fantastic tool to beat wall dives clean (especially if you block his EX wall dive on his way up, you can just hold up towards the direction he’s going and mash :mp:). You do need to be careful with reckless burn kicks in this match, especially if he’s using Ultra 2 (which is very likely). This match is actually kind of weird and hard, because you either need to be all over him at close range or keep distance from him. Playing a mid-range poking game will easily result in your death, since his normals are quick and will beat out most of anything you try to do. If you’re not applying close range pressure, try to beat out his jump-ins with far standing :hk: or fierce TK.
His hop kicks are annoying, but again, he’ll only really throw that out at that mid-range poking distance which is where you don’t wanna be in the first place. I would say your only decent mid-range poke is strong TK, which does put you in at a close range regardless if he blocks or gets hit, but I probably wouldn’t use this anyway since you’ll likely get beat out by anything he throws out. Also, you can do a close :mk: if he is wall diving right on top of your head and beat him clean, but this timing is a bit tricky.
Honestly, Vega is just one of those matchups where any person regardless of the character needs to play against Vega a lot and get used to his antics.
If vega is mashing pokes midscreen you can stand outside of the range and use jab tk to counter poke. If he uses his hopkick it will get anti aired by jab tk and push him to the corner. just to add to this.
what are vipers true block strings everyone in my locals are scared to death now and do reversals 75% of the times in strings esp The DJ player
I think c.short feint > c.short is a true block string but dont quote me on that. If your opponent is mashing reversal seriously all you need to do is stop and wait for it occasionally. one FFF punish against a whiffed reverse will make a person think twice about it and if they dont then you can just keep punishing ftw. For DJ my advice is to use a lot of C.Fierce in your block strings and also as a meaty because it lowers your hit box enough to make upkicks whiff and also has enough active frames as well as an extended upward attack box to stuff ex machine gun and ex sobat. Just a thought. Vipers best true block string one standing short or crouch jab lol.
