Hey guys, just a few questions. How do you guys cancel your HP.TK w/o canceling after a normal ? I find it so hard, if i plink them out i always get ex.TK but if i try to do it fast w/o plinking mostly HP.TK will just fly out… Also, how do i do crossup instant BK? Saw some burn kicks that latif do was really really low of the ground. Thank you in advance =).
is there any advice anyone can give in the Makoto match up. Her normals pretty much beat out anything i have to offer. I didn’t see anything on the front page.
I cancel HP. TK with mp + hp (input for HP. TK is done with ring finger, cancel with ring + middle finger).
Instant cross-up burnkick is quarter-circle back, up-forward + kick input.
Makoto is just a bomb waiting to go off lol
I hate this match as I think whoever can ‘explode’ first will most likely win. Just try to get the advantage by way of a TK/BK and go hard, also use cross-ups & BK’s sparingly as her DP owns both…just safe jump her or go for grounded pressure.
When she gets in you just have to deal with it and wait for a chance to get out & reset.
You can os her wakeup pretty well with close short to mp tk + close short. If she dps she can’t hit you since you’re on the ground and it’ll catch her if she backdashes. But yeah, this matchup’s difficult the angles she comes in at with the axe kick and the priority on her normals makes it very hard to anti air consistently. Neutral jump RH will beat all axe kicks though, but it’s not the most ideal anti air since you don’t really get any advantage from it and it will lose to her jump fierce.
I can never get that OS to come out lol, but OS’ing the TK from a safe jump should serve the same purpose.
AA’ing her Axe kick with jump back RH or neutral RH is still good even though you get no advantage from it it gets her off of you & a chance to reset, a lot of Makotos will try to explode back in right after with EX.DashPunch or just F+Dash something so you gotta be ready for that.
Do you C.Viper experts have some advice on the Guy matchup? I find it “hard” but I honestly don’t know what to do against him. He can easily get out of wakeup situations with either Ex run or Ex tatsu, and his setup run > slide, EX flip > throw is really hard to get out (i dont know how).
any help will be appreciated
I’m in the same boat, he’s just weird to fight & I don’t know why.
What I know is that CL.MK owns his flip if he’s close otherwise just back dash, also if your crouching he can’t grab you.
His run can be OS blocked, just block low then high.
On your wake-up his CR.MK(double sweep) owns all your options except LK.BK, after you block it I don’t know if he’s on advantage or it’s just the properties of ST.MP but a follow up ST.MP from him beats all your buttons & catches your back dash…I THINK he recovers in time to block any reversals as well but that’s just fom a foggy memory of mine lol.
He has an Unblockable on us from his forward throw I think where he forward jumps twice.
As you said he can escape easily on wake-up with EX Run & EX Tatsu so its hard to keep him honest as you have to guess Grab>Ex.Run, Grab<Ex.Tasu, Ex.Tastu<Meaty, Meaty<EX.RunxxSlide, & so forth…best option is block lol, you might be able to do a delayed grab so you block the tatsu but idk if slide is activated fast enough from run if you’ll be able to grab him so you should test that.
This is off the top of my head & I can’t help but feel like I’m forgetting about something…oh well I hope it’s not important lol
To beat EX Flip do an early cr.mk. You have to do it early cos the move is quite slow so if he sees it he might be able to punish before you recover.
Vs chun-li … saw tonpi at the arcades some weeks ago, he was doing 6HK at every hazanshu attempt … the double kick goes through and hit clean. I don’t know how come it doesn’t get hit by hazanshu ?
Vs guy, his unblockable just lose to reversal HP TK …
After forward throw, dashx2, jump HP --> safe jump for ex tatsu and ex run slide.
After seismo fadc sweep, HP TK feint, jump HP --> same safe jump (difficult to time the feint right after the sweep)
Also there is some mid-screen shenanigans against him … if he blocks low, you can do in his guard, 2HP, HK BK (the BK will cross up only if he is blocking low) --> then HP TK or U1.
Another variation, from a jump in, you follow with 2LK, MK BK …
Mixing up someone to death with this is guaranted fun … LoL
I think it’s because Hazanshu only hits low, and 6HK is airborne for a few frames (goes over shoto 2MK after a blocked MP TK). Apparently Guile’s upside down kick also beats Hazanshu because it’s airborne.
How do we get around adons whos whole play style revolve around jaguar kick… I can randomly hit it with mp tk…And sj.lk BK But i cant react well is there any zoning methods of easy react-able normals or punishes for this? should i just block? heellllllp CEOs so close >.<
This works on most the cast actually, I posted setups for the whole cast somewhere but I don’t remember where…thanks though I had forgotten about this.
Just block…he gets damage if you try to react to it & get counter hit so just take the chip & close the distance.
Don’t play a zoning game as you’ll just eat jaguar kicks all day for dancing around at mid-screen, keep it a close range fight avoiding mid-screen.
@ilitirit, thx, didn’t know it was airborne
@PChrisGI yes, I remember you posted those ! --> http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm16531022 … people should use it ! it works wonder against people who use normals to lower their hitbox … they tend to stay down back all day … those shenanigans confuse them, they aren’t so sure about down back anymore …
is there a good method to the DJ matchup?
Could I get a general idea of how i should even fight guy? so many different things about this matchup piss me off.
And a less character specific question: what should you do after an overhead against someone who always stand grabs to tech because they expect a throw. I’ve been trying instant burn kicks but it’s getting me grabbed. not sure if it’s just that I’m not doing it right. If that does work, what else can I do?
Last two post on previous page and the first post on this page have some Guy info.
Your probably getting grabbed due to inputing the instant BK to slow, buffer it when the elbow hits and just press HK.
Btw are you doing an instant BK to keep frame advantage or are you just trying to avoid grab? If the latter just mash LK.BK
Whats the deal with thawk?! That one move where he flys foward? do we have anything to combat this? or do we just w8 and try to wiff punish?!?!?!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure you can easily punish a blocked Condor Dive with EX Seismo or maybe even EX Knuckle? T. Hawk gets on my nerves in general. They usually like to intentionally whiff a Condor Dive and then when you’re walking back thinking you’ve blocked it, they try to grab you. Just jump if you see it coming, and punish with an FFF.
Speaking on annoying characters, I really need help with the M. Bison MU in general. For the life of me, I can’t seem to beat him no matter what character I use. Ii can’t even beat a scrub Bison. One pretty bad Bison I came across beat me and tried to give me Viper tips? They also love to grab. T_T Just thinking of Bison makes me soo salty lol. Anyone have any general tactics that work against Bison? What are his weaknesses? What are some Viper-specific tactics?
Avoid using burnkicks inside his (large) standing roundhouse range. Instead try using lp. thunder knuckle - works well against roundhouse-happy Bisons - not only for damage but to reset spacing when he gets too close. Crouching mk into mp. thunderknuckle is really effective too. Once you get frame advantage on Bison, stay on top of him - you can’t let him get away. Make sure you punish his teleports and junk if he tries to get away from you.
If you’re playing a turtle bison who stays on other side of screen and keeps doing that annoying air glowing hand thing. Walk him down, close space and chip slowly away at him. He’s prepared to Timeout the match so you have to be as well.
If he’s got Ultra #2 ready to go and you knocked him down, don’t get fancy with oki. Just wait til he gets back up and go slow - and be aware when he can whip out the ultra while you’re attacking.
