SSF4 AE 2012 Guile Video Thread: Return to Respectability

I use a hauppauge HD PVR and a laptop with 8mb RAM (i3 processor) to record. It’s all downloaded raw directly from the PS3 to the laptop in High Def. I also have a 15mb u/l so as far as pushing matches onto youtube. It’s uber speed for me.

Me getting FK > FADC > U2. Anyone else get this down in a match? You guys tell me if it’s worth the damage. Seems to be the case. Ironically, I did it on the 2nd player side, which was the side I couldn’t initially get consistently.

in that specific situation, i think naked ultra would have probably done more damage.

This is such a good match. This is exactly how you have to play good Ryu’s. I had a match that felt just like this the other day with a really good Ryu. I wonder why the Guile had Ultra 1? If he had Ultra 2, he could’ve ended the 1st round at 1:05 when Daigo did a J.FP. The RH Flash Kick trade Ultra 2 works like a charm on stuff like that. And in the second round he could’ve chipped him to death with his Ultra 2 to win the match. Still very well played though. Love the spacing and pokes.

Update 2: Noticed you missed a few potential juggles off early fk with ex.fk - maybe that’s not your flavour though. Also, love the use of the b.hk(close) - definitely adding more into my game.

i actually had some crazy real life stuff going on that day and my head was not in the game. Overhead makes defending against vega a billion times harder. I used to be able to block for a loooong time against vega since all i had to watch for was kara throw. That overhead is godly. The mask penalty changing from 25% to 10% is FUCKING HUGE and anyone that doesn’t recognize that simply doesn’t understand numbers. This match is definitely better for vega now, but like i said on the stream i still think it is in guiles favor.

oh man, I have lost to Vega more than any other character.
I cant apply presure because of his fliping backdashes and most of the time they fake their air game
His claw is now GODLIKE, stuffs almost everything.
Overhead, OMG
His ultra1 seems faster off the wall.
I was thinking that the best thing to do is to somehow get his claw off and dont let him get it again, I will try to turtle just where he droped it to see if it is a game changer. In Vanilla I did not care for Vegas to re-gain their claws. In SSf4 it makes a huge difference.

start believing. guile may well end up as his secondary rather than his main. but daigo is definitely serious about guile (which is a big surprise to me as i thought the valle/wong matches were just as a favour). apparently he really does believe that guile is one of the strongest characters in the game.

@_@. That’s like 6 minutes of non-stop plasma between Guile and Sagat. I’ll believe that Guile will be his secondary. Who was his secondary in Vanilla?

I guess we’ll all be blown away if he really does start maining Guile.
