Nemesys (Guile) vs Chun li (Saint Mo)

A match with me and a local Chun Li.

lol i love replays

Might be due to player knowledge or past experience but you don’t seem to trust yourself with lk.FK to catch cr.lk>hazanshu pokes. Also, st.mp is really nice at the ranges she tried to jump in at. Little damage but gets Chun just far enough away from you to put the game back into your hands.
Another thing that might be just me…I use SH to chip almost every chance I get if it’s in my advantage and I have meter for EX FK AA. I really don’t see many Guile players use it like that and I wonder why (of course, don’t do it at their Ultra range, EX SRK range etc)

Thanks much for the tips! I’ll focus on those aspects more.

double post
sigh…sry

spacing

I can see things a lot better than I can play them. From what I seen you gave the shotos pretty much control of space and ample time to formulate a nice cross up plan on you. Work a little more with Guile’s pokes and don’t be afraid to dig in there from time to time to gain space and at the very least stand yer ground and give up as little as you can.
This has been a terribly hard lesson for me and I am taking a lot of beatings trying to learn it. Its coming(slowly lol)

Add me up on 360 and maybe we could do some practice from time to time.

Almost all of the top players were there, it should have been called God Crush!!

A match I had with a good Dhalsim. I think I got lucky in this match, I doubt I would’ve won an extended set against the same guy. I also dropped LOTS of simple links, as you can see from cr. jab > cr. mp > whiffed boom.

@Nemesys

I think you pressed focus too much and you dashed forward too much in the match and you also didn’t SH many of his TSs while in range. Walking towards a projectile and FADC forward is faster than standing still and fadc dash forward a projectile. At the right distance, walking towards TS and fadc forwards into s.hp would net you a counterhit if Sagat tries to hit you with lp or TS.

If you use b.lk to advance after a boom at full or 3/4 screen, it’s better than dashing forward after boom as you can still cancel 1 more TS with a boom/SH to hit him. This is an important setup to bait his TS into SH. I would say this would be a bnb SH setup in Super against projectile characters. I’m sure you’ll beat him if you play him again and incorporate that into your play. B.lk is also quite safe slightly outside half screen and further distance if you throw a jab boom first and Sagat matches it on reaction.

Nice use of f.mk to hit his low TS. Does FK at the start of the round trade or stuff TS? I’m curious why you did it a few times and he did got hit a few times.

This channel will have more videos of the tourney that took place this past Friday at PC Gamerz in Kaneohe, HI., so keep on checking the channel for updates.

Thanks again, Rexell. First match (second round) does not count because I wasn’t even looking at the screen. I was staring down at the stick and just practicing rotation. All of a sudden I heard the super startup and I was like…“omg…no I didn’t just waste that. shit!”

FK reaches out far enough to tag Gat’s fists. It’s risky as heck but I’d go for the gut feeling “Is he going to TS or not?”

I was trying to set up the b.lk > SH a few times. Like as far as getting into the range. Problem was, it was almost like he knew I was going for that setup and would intentionally throw a fast TS to grab me before I landed. Maybe I just had the timing all wrong. Some have said that I’m supposed to lame that matchup out. Imo, I’m leaving laming to the tournaments. Offline casuals or what not is just pure fun and testing stuff out. I just wanted to get in there like really up in his face no matter what. lol.

Lots of good gameplay posted in this thread. I hate to bring it down, but that’s what I do son! lol. Seriously though, I wouldn’t mind a non-god video thread.

Anyway, after I got the feedback I was over-thinking and didn’t do so hot initially.

I don’t know if it’s the same for everyone else, but easily >50% of matches are vs. Ken/Ryu. I end up getting in a rhythm against them and then face a Guy and get rocked.

For all the Umehara fetishists: ???(9)

Almost an hour of Umehara as Guile versus a very competent Ibuki.

Notes on Daigo’s Guile:

  • He resists doing anything that would use (or waste?) meter and saves it for Super (and hits it maybe 15 times over the set of matches).
  • Very few EX sonic booms, which is smart, of course, against Ibuki.
  • Even fewer flash kicks, unless in a combo, which again is smart if you don’t want to just throw one out there and FADC it, spending 2 bars of meter.
  • He seemed to have trouble with the cr.lp (x2), cr.mp xx sonic boom/flash kick bnb, but hit it a few times.
  • Daigo has impeccable defense.

So, is there anything you Guile pros would add? What did you see in this video that could add to your game?

I noticed that when Ibuki close in with a dash, Daigo like to throw out one or two jabs. Is that generally a good strategy? (against ibuki if not most of the rush down characters)

Where on that page is the link? Thanks.
