Any1 else have this feeling when playing Ranked match to often where by u play with so much noobs your skill actually drops and feel more relax. When a pro comes by u cant win bcoz u have so much bad habits. E.g forget all footsies.
@Hoppa: I have tried using hr.k but mine always comes out to slow. Is there a trick to it?? U use it so easily.
Hr.k?? are you referrring to the Guile high kick > Backfist ?
If so, the trick is to do it a tad earlier than the C HP and that the opponent is on a 45 degree angle on jump in. this anti air is a 2 hit combo netting you 230 damage.
I prefer neither and opt out for s.roundhouse or EX FK for pure damage.
s.rh allows you to retain back-charge while EX FK really takes a nice chunk off of your opponent.
Is GHK>s.rh character dependent though? I’m not sure but it’s worked fairly well for me.
This was a series from a couple of days ago against a pretty good viper that taught me quite abit about the matchup, and since the other thread is talking about viper thought i might as well post them

Going to try and record on a different camera if i can think of one. What i know about viper so far is that
-crouching fierce can be a better option against anti-airing viper than airthrow, if i`d tried that more often i would have a much higher win percentage against her
-standing fierce from a far jumping viper can also counter burning kick
-sobat goes over seismos, beats EX seismo
-vipers recvovery is very fast but he startup is very slow, if you suspect a burning kick from close distance use standing mp and it should anti-air her
-vipers can be trained with airthrow after a sonic boom that comes after a seismo, to burn kick early, making them easier to cr fierce punch
-a few of guiles safer and quicker startup normals SHOULD be able to beat out vipers thunder knuckle strings
And guiles absolute hardest matchup imo is
errr no…it’s not at all. if you corner yourself vs rog, then you really should be losing (if the rog’s good enough). that’s my point.
when i said “you made it way too easy for him”, what i meant was, he pretty much walked himself into the corner under little pressure. that’s only working against him.
i used to do something very similar vs zangief until i forced myself to stop doing it and stay much nearer gief throughout the matchup (just like warahk taught me). now i’m miles better at the matchup. don’t be scared to take him on at a closer range. trust yourself.
This! Against Rog(And pretty much in general) the corner is not your friend, He really has nothing that you need to be walking back for(In fact it gives him a free low charge attack if you are not good at seeing it coming), stand your ground, and apply pressure correctly, Am I correct?
Fuck that man. Be as harsh as possible. Thats how people get the point. Don’t sugar coat anything. Here’s a match of me playing against a Rog. Not that I’m so much better then anyone, but I think this is the idea on how to play against him. Also if I did something wrong, please tell me. I know I tried to throw him out of his ex dashes, but I missed the timing. Aside from that, hope this helps you wselak and I hope to get some help as well!
The Balrog player sucked anyway. He tried to turn punch through sonic booms. And you guys are way too harsh. Rog is not the most straightforward matchup for Guile. For one, Rog’s jump-ins are hard to react to. As well as his dash punches. And it’s very hard for Rog to score a knockdown. And really decent Rogs will whiff punish you anytime you so much as whiff a jab. And lo and behold, you’re back in the corner. It’s incredibly hard to keep your ground versus Balrog, especially if you’re not use to fighting him.
Hey, relax dude. No one is saying the dude sucks or is calling the guy names or anything. But there should be no sugar coating. Thats all I’m saying. If I fuck up, I want someone to tell me that I fucked up and exactly how so I can work on it. This isn’t grade school.
hey thanks for your comments it means alot. i do think he was better then a decent balrog. i played against some weaker players on ranked match today. i threw more random back hps to sonic boom and down hp to ex sonic boom with they jumped at me. no balrogs though… it will take some more time i think. and thanks for understanding
oh ya i did see your justin.tv up load, and you man handled that guy. ill watch it a couple more times to see if theres anything i can add to my game
I hate to break it to you, but that Balrog was not good. Sorry. He may be slightly better than what you’re use to facing, but he’s average at best. There is nothing about that Balrog that indicates he knew what to do in that matchup. He had no knowledge of Balrog’s normals, and he seemed to want to get some momentum with random EX dash punches. Had you really known how to fight him, you could have killed him pretty quickly. But I don’t fault you, punishing Balrog is a little hard at first. Basically Rog verus Guile is a HUGE spacing matchup. Both have damn good normals, both can really fuck each other up for whiffing, both have good frame traps. This Rog was just playing against Guile like he’d play against anybody else. There was nothing particularly scary about anything he was doing.
I need some serious help with the Vega match up. Any advice?
I landed a nice combo in the 3rd, but other than that, it’s not the best video in the word.
You need more tools for dealing with his wall-jump - try some j.mp and c.mp action.
Maybe get better at pinning him down - Claw has real trouble dealing with suffocation. He’s only got a couple of outs and they’re risky as shit.
Edit: also, if I’m playing as Claw, I like it when people jump around - his air-to-air potential is pretty good. Try staying a little more grounded.
