hey guys, as you can see I’m having difficulties with Ken, especially when he jumps in with light kick, it seems to stop all my anti-air attacks, even though I won the second time we played, I was not satisfied. I made lots of blunders, please feel free to criticize what I did or did not do and some advice.
Nicely done. I like this matchup because you have to play very solid and a tiny mistake costs you 40% if you’re lucky or the game. Seems like you know this matchup well. I was really impressed how you kept out of the corner and actually put him in the corner in the first round. That last Ultra he got you were crouching right next to him with a life lead; that’s probably not a good place to be. The neutral jump hp, cr.mp you said you didn’t have enough time to charge boom? In that situation I always charge down for j.hp, cr.mp, FK. And the GHK into FK or Backfist would have been nice but I have the same problem. So many months of purposely ignoring it. GJ though!
When I did the neutral jump hp, it didn’t dawn on me that I wasn’t holding db til the hp landed. lol. I’m going to upload the rest of those matches against the Gief later on.
If you didn’t have charge (and even if you did, this combo is good to do), you can go straight to df.hk off a neutral jump hp. If you felt like you didn’t build a charge yet, you can just finish with a backfist.
Heh that’s funny, no bother zoning, just get up in each others faces:) That’s good to see once in awhile, otherwise the 1st guy to score any damage usually wins
I turtled a bit vs RickyTTT this time mainly because the last time when I played vs him I tried to rush his Ibuki down with Guile, but it didn’t really work.
My execution on couple of combos was extremely poor and I’m sure there will be a few errors spotted in my match. When i linked the C LK > C LP > CMP > SB, the SB did not hit confirm which was wierd. I could have FK’ed him but I thought I’d play it safe. Also I was quite amazed at how fast Guile’s super metre builds up.
I got the result i wanted and i felt this Ryu had pretty good execution and solid gameplay overall and punished when he got the opening.
Next one is Vs Deejay

Not sure if it is me or whether Guile does have a clear advantage in this matchup. Deejay has a very good EX moves but I feel he has to rely more on trickery to get in. He is not the worst character but I feel his options are limited to some extent
@Hoppa
Man I wish the Ryu’s I play spaced their fireballs so badly.
I always seem to get that sick everything-I-do-is-perfect-range Ryu that makes me work very hard to even poke him. Nice safe jump there though. That MP>super punish was pretty.
That’s what I meant. SRK bait is what I wanted to say but didn’t
I just got back from vacation…my head is still a bit detached
I started recording some of my saved vids. Sadly, my Nexus One is all I have in terms of cam so I apologize about the bad quality.
This was a 4000+ Sagat
I have no idea how he got that many points or maybe it just wasn’t his day but I started jumping at him freely without being punished…and I played like ass.
haha I don’t care what people call it. I did the empty jump to see what my opponent would have done and had a feeling that a dragon punch would follow. That would be around the correct spacing for the DP to miss, provided that Ryu does not put himself in the right range for the DP to land.
I could have tried for the C MP > FK > super, but I decided to keep it simple:)
then again execution still sucks shit and I need to work harder on my links as i sometimes stuff it up
I’ve finally decided that my phone vids aren’t THAT bad so I’ve uploaded a few.
Again, sorry if the quality is bad. I’m working on it.
About the matches; I’m sloppy as hell. That pretty much sums it up. That’s what age does to dexterity
Some of these are older and some more recent. I still play the same scrubby Guile :nunchuck:
Ranked match against Sim. I still like the match-up. Can’t point my finger at why.

Still have a lot of trouble with Guy

Ranked Gouken. I do my best to tech Goukens grab to Ultra but it doesn’t always work online, no matter how hard I try.

Cody is another match-up I don’t know well but I don’t have much trouble with him. I’m just unsure what I can and can’t punish.

Random ranked Akuma. THis guy didn’t get to “Vortex” me…I was happy about that

against Cody, if you score a knockdown you could pretty much jump in for free the majority of the time as he has no reliable reversals or an SRK move. . He’ll be looking at using the J HK as a jump in which will beat you at certain ranges. Air grab him when in the right range but dont ex boom when he is within J HK range.
if he tries that zonk punch or whatever it is called to go through projectiles to tag you if you if you try to advance on him, block and punish accordingly. if you have no charge, B HP is the one to use. My friend has a good cody, but when i turtle him and start attacking after scoring a knockdown, he will then be in a lot of trouble
Thanks for the tip. I noticed yesterday that I can jump Cody on wake-up all day long and he doesn’t have a lot of reliable stuff against it. I can only imagine what Akuma can do to Cody after a knock-down.
