SSF4 AE 2012 Guile Video Thread: Return to Respectability

A quick tip I noticed last night…you can just dash away from that ultra, even very late. I was playing Akuma vs a buddy’s Dictator and I was in the corner, when HR let it rip after a lp fireball. I just dashed forward thinking it’ll still connect, might as well and it didn’t.

Those were some friggin sweet matches, especially vs. arturo and KDZ. The match against abel was played great, but KDZ’s up close game is right where it needs to be. I think the only thing dieminion needs to work on is capitalizing on big combos. I’m seeing a few crumples into c.lp x 3 and a few uncapitalized jump-ins. Aside from that, absolutely great play. Solid AA, solid zoning, solid footsies.

And there you can see how Breathless will go under projectiles (of which SH is one) at a range that even looks like you’d be safe. It’s so dangerous.

More GeoM stuff. This time, WTF to do against Ryu.

Like I suggested before from watching his other vids, he’s using cr.mk to get out of crossups (or duck under them). It does work, but I tried testing this myself on Guile’s wakeup. Using cr.mk isn’t entirely reliable.

Dieminion played extremely well, I especially liked how he has Guile-like corner preasure and combos that takes a lot of damage. However in the KDZ, I think he panicked whenever Abel close the distance (Natural reaction), but he did mess up some jump in combos (I guess once [twice?]) but overall, it was Guile-like matches.

Too bad the commenters hates Guile so much, y so bias :confused: ?

when he jumped at sim in the corner and saw him launching a fireball, he immediatly switched from bnb to df.hk ExFK for the max damage, then he dizzed him, for one of the crumple combos with UDK, I wanted to see that s.hp instead of the c.mp, I guess he would have died anyways. awesome stuff. Another think that I liked was that he is willing to take a fireball but make them eat the Hurracane, good stuff

Got stubborn in the first game and jumped into like 5 TU’s. Cleaned up my act in the later games and took it. Landed the j.hk, df.hk. hk FK like 5 times haha.

Semi’s vs. Abel, Rose

Looking for any and all tips for the Rose match up. I noticed that doing b.lk after every boom was getting me killed due to reflect sonic booms, so I started just blocking or using b.hk since it’s faster and covers a little bit of ground.

There’s other matches uploaded, but it’s me vs. 2 not very good players, so they’re not really worth posting.

EDIT: Fighting a zoning Rose is super frustrating. IS THIS HOW IT FEELS TO FIGHT US GUILES?! I HATE IT :’(

EDIT: Oh man, I take back what I said about cleaning up my act. I won, but I made so many dumb moves here and there that add up. A wrong anti-air here and there, an occasional stupid jump, giving up position. All that crap adds up. I don’t really count the handful of random FK’s as mistakes cause it makes him think twice about pressuring me.

Here’s a match that I did last night with a friend of mine. I’m going to kind of start a log file of my own progression. Feel free to criticize things I’ve did or should’ve done. I welcome it.

Good stuff overall. =) Kind of panicked in the second round. lol

While GreenHand can nullify projectiles, it doesn’t knock down on hit. EX GH is the one you should be looking for. So until he has EX, I think you can freely chuck booms as you please - assuming they are safely thrown.

Watch out for Gief’s empty jumps (you got lucky at 0:54); that’s usually the telltale sign they are fishing for U1.

Although I didn’t see too many meaty SBs/whatever when Gief lands from jumping, but remember Gief buffer EX GH and get through whatever you stick out and score a knock down.

Finally, because of Gief’s slow and dopey jump, you have enough time to use SH to AA.

P.S. because you’re playing online, don’t expect to get your “on reaction” stuff down pat. Remember, lag is always a factor!

lol. I know what you mean. IMO, it’s probably better to be IN range to block (-8) GH so that you can punish accordingly. Even if you get hit, Gief’s at -5. If you’re just shy of being in range, that’s totally a SPD set up right there. I’m sure you felt this when he SPD you > whiff GH > SPD you again.

Oddly enough, even though Gief has GH, I haven’t seen a lot of people use the normal one unless it’s to gain spacing after a knock down. Otherwise, it’s all about EX GH to go through projectiles and score knock down. Chances are, they won’t blindly throw out normal GH anyway so you’re safe in that department.

I hope someone can correct me, but if he manages to nullify a SB with normal GH (and get in your face), chances are you’re going to eat an SPD on your recovery (there’s more recovery on SB than GH)
