So Gootecks is advertising his “pay to show you how an expert does it” - I’d love for one of the Americans here to start an account, apply, beat the shit out of him, and post the results here. Any takers?
Here’s a quote to maybe fire someone up:
"I decided to start offering online XBL/PSN 1 on 1 coaching again for those who are trying to prepare for Evo and other upcoming tournaments as well as those who are just trying to get good enough to beat all their friends or beast online.
Playing a lot, practicing in training mode and reading/watching videos helps a lot, but sometimes you need an expert to tell you what you’re going wrong, why you’re losing or clear up misconceptions."
Yeah, he’s pretty weak on cross-up defense - the deal when playing him is to fuck up (in this case, Guile’s) options after blocking the jump-in. Cody’s a suffocation machine; once he starts pushing back, it can get tricky for anyone.
Vs. Akuma, Cody does okay because of his damage and stun output, but it can be hard work (same as Guile, really).
Also, if anyone’s interested, ex.zonk is full invuln. for most of it’s life.
well, I would like to play him but my connection sucks, he does not do it on psn, just xbox. I’ll pay 2x as much to play gilley tho… at least he is one of my guile heroes for pulling such bad ass combos.
He does play on PSN. He was in our irc channel once and a few of us got to play him.
Edit: He did make a request to not have his matches uploaded beforehand for his own reasons (whatever they may be). We agreed and respected his requests.
He means well, I guess. He does have a nice Boxer but his Guile isn’t mighty. He does understand match-ups, does understand the game quite well so this might not be such a horrible thing…except his price sheet…that’s a bit confident.
most of the new ssf4 characters have weak reversal and wake up games so guile can actual attack a bit more in certain matchups. T-hawk you can pretty much zone him all day as most of his options are very unsafe. In relation to some of me matches, you are free to point out any flaws present in my style of play. I feel one of them is not capitalising on any mistakes opponents make.
Considering how sloppy I am, your style is great.
I’m dealing with the same issue, esp. against the new cast of not punishing every chance I get. Adon seems to be the worst when it comes to that.
At the Ibuki vs Akuma discussion:
As far as Ibuki goes…maybe I haven’t played a really mighty one but I fear Ibuki much less than Akuma. Not to say I haven’t gotten mixed up into oblivion with her but it just seems less scary…except her mix-up into the grab Ultra! That one is sick.
A good Akuma needs to knock you down only once to start his mighty stuff and regardless how carefull you are with Guile, you will eat a short somewhere along the way and around the world you go.
Posted on the main page, thought the matches were interesting to post here. Some Dieminion vs Sim and Blanka. Also, Dieminion rocking Guile shades IRL (!!!)
This is a major tournament in Singapore and I will be maining SSF4 Guile in this tournament. I will try my best to post my videos in the tournament here. I hope I will be able to play with Momochi or Choco Blanka and post my matches with them here.
Couple stuff I noticed. I’m pretty sure Die knows all of it already, but for the rest of us:
Guile’s neutral jump fierce is pretty easy to hit confirm IMO. Could’ve gotten a little extra damage in the first round by doing nj. fierce, df.hk, FK, instead of the usual cr.mpxxFK.
Dieminion hit Yipes with two booms at 1:05. He was really close and could’ve comboed into a backfist both times. If he did those backfists and that df.hk I talked about above, he probably wouldn’t have had to do that amazing U1 comeback at the end of the first round (Before someone is a smart ass, yes I know the match could’ve gone completely different if he did those combos, but damage wise, he probably would’ve won earlier).
Even though Die made that incredible comeback in the first round, that first game shows why Abel is a really bad match up for Guile. In the 2nd and 3rd round, Guile has no answer to up close mix up besides going all in with FK or giving up 2 bars to make it safe and get out and zone. Even if he does go to mid-screen, Abel has tons of options to get around the zoning and great mobility to stop you from getting away.
Yes I do believe Abel is a hard matchup, and even more so with Ultra 2. Although many of the top players here in Melbourne argue that even though Guile is a terrible matchup for honda and dictator, it is still very winnable.
Bad matchups generally mean that 1-2 mistakes will cost you the round or match.
