SSF4 AE 2012 Gen Match-ups & Strategies (New)

dude you my man but seriously get help with the matchups for ae 2012 because we know you have a life and what not… but the rest of us who come here looking for answers suffer when 1/2 of the matchups in the section arent finished. Or upto par. Appreciate everything you do but don’t be ashamed to divide up some responsibilities. The entire Gen community depends on it. As far as us pming you EVERY Gen tip in the world allow me to be blunt… Post that shit in the matchup thread asap man. ASAP. Thank you.

And not pressing buttons when you shouldn’t be. Also a lot of people forget that a LOT of rose players use non-true block strings when it comes to Soul Spiral. EX Gekrio, Super, Ultra takes care of that.

not if you time it right. If you do it too soon then yes. but if you time it right or just as she’s about to hit you, you’ll win. I wouldn’t super as you’ll travel through her. LK is unsafe on block its -8, MK is -6, HK is the only safe one at -4, EX is -8. So just block and super. They will go between different versions, but if they do the safest one on block, the time between c.MP and HK Soul Spiral you can super, ultra, EX Gekiro. So you really need to watch how they play. If you notice you are getting counter hit a lot, they are using MK or HK version. You can punish those ones as they aren’t true block strings. LK and EX are. But you usually don’t see EX if they hit confirm, and they mainly use EX after a blocked regular Soul Spiral.

i just saw mike ross and gooteks talked about the changes that honda, blanka, boxer and rose … buff of headbut damages and blanka balls damages honda tools … CAPCOM ARE YIU SERIOUS … AE WAS FINE EXCEPT FEI LOG AND THE TWINS … OMG

lol, assuming you’re not trolling. The only game changers are maybe Blanka (maybe). Rolls is having a couple of fundamental changes that might affect characters ability to punish as that’s always been a big issue in that match imo, if you can’t punish blanka ball, you have trouble in that matchup. Boxer’s headbutt damage just means that you should play it like always and not get hit with headbutt, 22f of grounded recovery withstanding, Gen can inflect more damage and have better setups after blocking a headbutt than balrog, period. Rose is still the same, 5f startup is still a non-invincible 5f startup :[, Rose still has no viable reversals.

All in all, most changes don’t mean much overall, very few characters had fundamental changes. Cody probably got the biggest changes, with the 3f short in AE, and increased walk speed in 2012.

hello bro … i know how to play against most of what i mentioned but, those characters are really hard o play against … turtles + high damages … well time i guess will show us !!! i hate SSF4 coz Gen was really bad there and now am just dont wanna see Gen as SSF4 coz of the all cast buffs any way will see soon !

turtle just as hard. They can’t jump at you, and if they do full screen ball or headbutt punish it. If they are light versions use your pokes.

the thing i was just wanna from capcom is more stamina just move Gen from 900 to 950 thats it !! Gen will appeare in tournaments alot … any way am loyal to my character what will happen to Gen i will always love to play him :slight_smile:

so since HK upkick is the only untechable knockdown has the hitbox been changed at all? i dont see too many situation in battle where people will jump in at such an odd angle that it wont trade or be stuffed. I personally dont bother with it much

what about linking fierce into hk gekiro? I’m more excited to play around with ex oga and roll combos

Fierce into hk gekiro works on many more characters, yes

If anyone notices anything missing or incorrect please pm me and let me know what to change. Sometimes are possible but maybe really hard to do. Example Crane c.LK, Mantis U1. Some characters it does work mid screen but the timing is ridiculous.

I found an unblockable with Gen’s HK Gekiro and unteched LK/MK/EX Gekiro on standing shoto and Bison. I haven’t tested it on many characters, but it definitely worked on the battery of shotos and bison. The unblockable is: Gekiro > crane c.hk > MK Oga to wall behind opponent.

Also, to touch up on HK gekiro, I’ve been confirming it with s.lp > s.hp off of jump in and crossup. On block, I do s.lp > s.mp > pause > c.mp hands, and on hit … Well, you know.

I’ll give this some more tests later. I would really appreciate it if someone here could give me a direct link to where crossup ultra setups are. I know this type of this is frowned upon, but I am on an extremely slow computer that can barely handle one SRK tab, and I looked around a bit. I tried to find some on my own but they were inconsistent with unforgiving loose timings.

there is simpler than the one you mentioned … it just hk Gekiro > lk oga on them wake up … work on bison - shotos others i need to test it … any way good find though
