Air thinks EX Gekiro is still throwable.

Well I barely check news these days. So I’m lazy. I just went there and posted that cuz it was funny.

EDIT: So I read his blog and it needs a lot of work.

Definitely not 6-4, maybe 5.5-4.5.

If Gen could have the utility of crane U2 and still have damage potential of U1 combos the match would be 6-4, but that obviously isn’t the actual case. Air might be conflating his impressions of the two ultra sets a bit when he’s coming up with a 6-4 number.

Just my take on it.

I see the Ryu match-up in slight advantage for Gen. But this may also depend on the fact that Ryu is still the most well-known match-up… I think it’s the only character (besides my main, Gen) whose moves I know almost by heart. For sure I’ve not particular problems against Ryu.

Ah, by the way, I haven’t played lately for about two weeks (Dark Souls… argh!) and today I noticed I’m already rusty with some of my combos… unbelievable…

I think it is pretty even, depending on the opponent’s MU knowledge.

Only a few days left until CC2011, I’m gonna pack as much knowledge I can b4 I go! It’ll be my debut as a tournament player! Too bad I’ve been too busy working to prepare for it, so I will just cram lol

Happens to me all the time with FGs. I have to play like every other day to keep up the level my skill is at. Other than that, playing once a week or less = scrubby gen. I might be getting XBL back (been without it for awhile) and it’s going to be sad to watch how bad my game play will be.

Did anybody else notice that Air thinks all gekiro’s have invincibility too? Either I’ve been missing out on these invincibility frames or he’s just TOTALLY talking crap some serious crap :frowning:

P.S I really hope I’m not wrong on the frame thing -.- To my knowledge Gekiro is throw invincible and that’s it.

Ya I already posted some things he had listed that were incorrect and to add stuff.

EX Gekiro is throw and strike Invnc. Forget about the others. If they are, it’s not as good as EX. Because I’ve been counter hit on LK Gekiro by a jab or short many times. So i stick to using EX Gekiro.

LK Gekiro has 3f full invincibility and MK/HK Gekiro have 4f full invincibility.

Ahh, good good so it’s not just me! Sorry I missed those, I like throwing out LK Gekiro’s to catch a throw that I’ve got a read on. It’s still really bad how someone who’s considered pretty good is preaching totally wrong stuff to people.

Edit: Just seen street’s comment… wtf? I’m sure it’s not invincible at all apart from to throws.

Actually, LK Gekiro has 1~3f strike and projectile invincibility, and 1~4f throw invincibility. If it didnt have a single invincibility, Ryu’s 4f safe jump after sweep would counter out reversal LK Gekiro. But no, he blocks it. Same goes with MK/HK Gekiro (1~4f strike and projectile invincibility, 1~6f throw invincibility), except they will whiff or lose to OS SRK.

It CAN be thrown out like a SRK between blockstrings, but it heavily depends on the opponent’s timing and the move’s active frame length, so it’s not as practical as others.

all the strike and projectile invc seems pointless on all versions other than EX cuz I’ve been counter hit like a MF trying to use LK gekiro to catch someone between moves. And it’s 2 frames faster. Go figure. So I don’t even bother with LK Gekiro any more in those situations.

Example would be Rufus’s dive kick. LK Gekiro gets stuffed. EX Gekiro not so much. I guess that 1 extra frame (assuming EX has 1-4 strike and project which I thought it always had) makes all the difference in the world.

Basically that invincibility is useless.

Wait you are saying Throw Invincibility is useless? I remember getting thrown out of it in Vanilla all the time. It was fucking annoying. You always had to Tech, you couldn’t just Gekiro them when they went to do a tick throw.

Nope, I’m talking about the invincibility that STILL lets you eat CH, grounded. Not saying it’s completely useless tho.

Throw invincibility on Gekiro is rly relieving, considering the fact that the move is active and you get airborne as soon as throw invincibility wears out.
