Ah yes, I was thinking I’ll have several chat rooms… One for each pool (A-D) for match logistics and reporting, then one for the final bracket after the participants are determined.
FYI - you can turn off the pop-up messages in the XMB under Settings > System Settings.
Do you want me to just make one big video of all the pool matches or try to make individual match vids. For that it might be easier to do one big video.
As for the bracket videos, I just hope someone gets to record them.
Ah… Pardon my misinterpretation of your original question. You mean to ‘record’ as in video, not ‘record’ as in write down.
Nice thought as long as the setup doesn’t impede the match making process. To that end, just stick to recording your own or the bracket matches. The participating players should give consent to be recorded and to have you as a spectator in their lobby (since you might add lag).
I might go ahead and record my matches just so I can see how bad I really am!
It should be okay to have one spec in each match, but that should be reserved for finals only. We can’t have Coth recording everything, it would take too long.
Aye, you’re right considering that the first four bracket matches typically happen simultaneously. Matches should not be delayed so they can be recorded.
I’ll set up my point & shoot camera (Canon PowerShot SD870 IS), so I can record as well. I could see recording the 2 semi-final matches and the finals, for sure. The rest is gravy.
Well there are only 7 bracket matches. What if I only recorded those? This tourney would be great in the video thread. If it can’t happen, that’s ok, I can always see if anyone’s ok with being recorded during player matches.
I know most people hate waiting around, and therefore I’ll be sensitive to anything adding delay or taking too much time. For now, I’ll just say ‘no’ to capturing each of the first 4 bracket matches. If we get to that point and everyone is cool with it happening serially, then great. Otherwise, just take what you can get.
Since I committed to using PSN messages and text chat, I’ll stick with it. Everyone will be using their PS3 anyway and should be familiar with using PSN messages and text chat. As a last resort they can come here.
I’ve used IRC for almost as long as I’ve played SF2, so I did consider it. In the past, we’ve gathered on EFnet channel #hdremix. I didn’t want to get into explaining clients/servers/channels to people – I already do enough tech support at my real job!
I see that the EFnet site now offers the braindead simple Webchat Login feature right from the homepage. Put your PSN ID for Nickname and #hdremix for Channel. I’ll keep that idea in my back pocket.
Stick with PSN messages and text chat for this tournament. I’ll be busy enough and I don’t want to be checking IRC, too!
There are a lot of people. I’ll open an EFnet IRC room called #hdremix. It’s what has been used in the past. If you don’t know what it is, either learn quick or check out www.efnet.org and use Webchat Login. Otherwise, just find me on PSN.
