Why is this in the Ryu forum? I wish I would have known about this earlier or I would have got in on it. Also, Chatzilla is a free IRC client that acts as a plugin to Firefox. Not bad.

good games, i like all of your characters. and i think able was your strongest.
ABEL: you applied very good pressure, and stayed in my face. One thing i would say to work on is his other combos. I faced another abel who kept juggling me, then after i think fourth juggle (with the roll the hit) he landed on the other side and i didn’t expect that. I’m not exactly sure on what he did, but incorporate things like that. Not saying you juggled bad, your juggling was really good. But i think you messed up once or maybe twice. Work on your defense a little bit and guard against cross-ups a little better.
GEN: Your gen was ok but basic. I was getting you with things that i shouldn’t have gotten you with like the cross up on you’re wake up. Also i suggest working on some of the more advanced combos, but you got the basics down and were very solid. Work on cutting out the useless stuff like the juggle after the ultra, if you notice at one point you were literally doing no damage (or very very very little). Also work a little bit on the anti air, but solid gen.
VEGA: I really hate this match up no matter who i am, but you had great timing. You actually got me with with vega’s garbage of an ultra lol. I was surprised you caught me falling out of my ultra. Can say much cuz i think you picked him once. But overall good games, and very good solid characters so far, expand on that. Just hit me up whenever you want to play again.
vs. disbchance
FT5
Result: 5-1 Phatal, I think we went 7-3 overall
Your balrog is pretty solid, although you really seemed to have a problem against Bison. After a while I was starting to feel a lot more comfortable in that matchup. If i was you I’d be a lot more aggressive in that matchup, and really use those jabs. My good friend plays a sick balrog and he really uses the jabs great, especially since he jabs seems to stuff a lot of bisons moves on start up. I was trying to keep you out of jab range though, so you’ll have to work on getting in close and staying there. Good use of the overhead, which cuaght me a few times. Its very punishable on block though so watch that, cuase I started to block almost all of them once i started to catch on. But overall you’re really solid with him, I’d just work more on that match up.
Against the other characters i used you did a lot better. Chun Li is the closest to a 2nd character for me, so you handled her well, and I couldn’t seem to beat you with her. So good job on that match up. You didnt fair to well in the honda matchup though, so that might be something to work on.
Glad we could link up and play. I was having fun so thats why i stuck around a little longer than I said i was gonna.
I am going to begin conducting informal round robin sessions in groups of 5. What is a round robin? Well it’s basically a miniature tournament where every person plays each other, and whoever wins the most is the winner. It’s really simple. The sessions are one day long, so when you sign up, you will be signing up for that date. So you should be expected to be available that day, or don’t sign up.
This event is scheduled to be October 24th, which is tomorrow. Make a post in here and I will do the rest. Also, it would be helpful to get into the IRC chat if possible, if we can get all five of you in there, running this should be a breeze.
If I don’t get five people there is no event and I’ll re-schedule another one. This is a first-come first-serve sort of deal. To sign up just post here in this thread telling me that you wish to sign up. You can contact Nemesys_Syndrome if you need assistance or have any questions but there shouldn’t be much guesswork to be done.
Play each person in a FIRST TO 3, to get things done faster (since this must all be done in one day), and both of you report to me the results.
Just to add on to Kyarisan’s Round Robin, you can also post feedback to your opponent’s matchups to the skill card that Akira built as well. url: DemonicAbyss.com. It’ll help build up your reputation (win/loss ratio) as well as help evaluate what the opponent needs to work on to get their game tighter.
Shirase akira…dude that site you made could be sick!!! i already made an account on it. also to everyone else…i’m back to play somemore, my computer broke and i got a new one, so hit me up for matches. i can record and leave feedback again
There is still one slot open. Click here to see the current list of contenders. The names used here are the SRK forum names.
Matches may be conducted at any time tomorrow, but I would recommend getting all of the matches out of the way as fast as possible. There might be people you want to play against who are currently against other people in the round robin, so the earlier you get these done the more likely everything is to happen on time.
It would be convenient if everyone involved were to be frequently checking in the IRC chat, so as to facilitate collaboration among participants. Again, PM me here or send me a private message on IRC with the results of each match, and I will work on calculating points.
If you’d like to sign up for Kyari’s Round Robins you need to get in touch with him or myself. The same rule also applies if you’re looking to get into the XBL tournament. It also helps if you show up in the irc room as there’s always someone there to help you get registered.

I would like to join this Round Robin 5. What time? I may be available tmrw, not 100% sure yet but if we keep doing these, i’m definitely interested. What time tmrw?
I am available best sunday afternoons after 3pm. Weekdays after 10pm EST.
Of all your characters, I would say that you showed the most potential using Rufus. Ryu and Viper are handled way too recklessly and got the impression that your whole tactics are all reactionary. There were many situations where you instantly saw the need to do a wakeup move each time you were knocked down, which is a very bad habit you want to eliminate.
Ryu should almost never use low rh unless you know it’s a guaranteed hit. Characters like Chun can punish this move easily when it’s whiffed. Viper is most effective doing rushdown (which you seemed to have figured out in one or two rounds using the thunder knuckle, but you had difficulty maintaining the momentum). Balrog showed promise too, but you were guessing often with headbutt in the hopes to get a free Ultra opportunity (which when you were successful, you always were consistent in executing).
To be frank, I think that it’s imperative you clean up your gameplay as you have developed a series of bad habits which I assume you considered effective from playing people who are actually less skilled than you. It’s a painful reality to face thinking your tactics are solid only to come across someone better than you (yes, I am speaking from personal experience) and they turn your battle plans upside down.
In summary:
Strive to be more patient
Don’t feel the need to instantly get back on the offensive after knockdown
Don’t get into the false hopes the jab x2 -> tick grabs will work (offline)
Use more of your normal moves and develop solid ground/aerial tactics; don’t just depend on one or two buttons as a guarantee.
Play to win (try to avoid doing sloppy things like jumping around a lot or liberally whiffing attacks).
Thanks to our most recent matches I’ve found some small glaring flaws in my Akuma game. Ryu has always been my toughest match ever since I started playing akuma a month and a half ago. I’m just going to list the things that I had trouble with.
I’m too scared to jump in since his FB’s recover so fast. One wrong guess on whether he’s going to throw and fb or not and I’m eating a hp shoryuken, assuming he doesn’t have an Ex Fire ball or stocked ultra, which in either case I’m eating one or the other.
I’m getting out footsied. This is my fault, I just haven’t worked on footies enough to be good at them.
I’m far too focus happy. Although I was able to bait a few jump in throws and I would back dash sweep. My focus was getting beat out by cr. mk xx hado a lot and just plain ex fb.
I’m way too predictable with my demon flips, I need to work them in less and more ambiguously.
I’m attempting cross ups and getting thrown as soon as I land, am I just jumping too late and he’s able to move just enough to dodge the cross up and throw?
-Same problem above with cross up tatsus. I’m also getting lp shoryuken’d out of them and eating an ultra for it. Is my tatsu timing/spacing off?
Whew, that’s a lot of shit I have to improve on. If anyone including Karisan could help me out on any of these points, that would be great.
Anyways, I know you don’t actually play Ryu as a main and I’m in no position to give Ryu advice, so I’ll spare you the time and just not write anything.
