SRK Training Team (XBL)

It’s been about 4-5 days since that bracket was made. I also didn’t hear from either of you what the hold up is. I know the main problem is usually people aren’t on at the same time. But either one of you needs to forfeit from a mutual agreement or I take both out. We need to move on.

If you play your match or agree on a forfeit by today I’ll add you back in.

when is the next tournament gonna happen?

No scheduled date at this time. Most likely this will take place on a weekend. You must be present for the duration of the tournament. Probably take 2-3 hours tops.

post #496, on friday, I posted that me and him tried to link up, and we were both unavailable this weekend. So if i don’t get to play him tonite just advance him, and ill play someone in the next tournament.

Well if it isnt my boy Phatal? hha found yo ass!

I’m sorry guys. I was away all weekend and when I got in last night, I found phatal had just logged off. You can advance phatal if we don’t play tonight. I’ll be on 7pm pacific onwards.

I was hoping to hit up SVGL tonight and watch some SF4, maybe get a game in, but it’s down the street so some other time.

So, I spent the weekend at a local anime convention (San Japan). I ended up playing Street Fighter there for a good 5 hours over the first two days. The first day I had to play with a 360 controller, it wasn’t fun, but I was still able to beat most of the players there, except for one guy the competition was… umm… inexperienced. The next day I brought my stick and Balrog got paid.

We had a small single elimination tournament. My first round a played a Ryu whom was a PS3 native and didn’t have a cross-system controller, he did well for not knowing the 360 pad. The next game I played a Gief whom played way too predictably, I was able to beat him with nothing more than Sweeps and AA’s zoning him the entire match, he didn’t talk to me at all, just sat down then got up and left, so I don’t know what his experience was. My third round I proceeded to get wrecked by a Blanka(the bane of my existence) that showed up a little while before the tourney started, he was a cool guy though, I got his live tag, he is going to help me with my Blanka game.

vs ImTomDotCom

you got a pretty good gen there. slippery old man to boot. I like that you did your multi hitting punch combos from various ways. most people just do it from mk and thats it. you cam in high, low and mid range, which really kept me guessing and unable to counter your initial hit constantly. i think you would have been able to keep me out a little bit more if you would have utilized gens anit-air kick think on some of my jumpins. It tends to work on me when i jump in on gens. since you werent really using it as an anti-air i was able to get in on you a bit more. we didnt play too many matches so i cant say a whole lot other than that we were pretty even. ggs and i look forward to paying you again.

vs ClydeByrd

ah, the gief match up. Its a hard one for me, i think you had not faced any goukens so you didnt know really how to deal with it so much. Its a really bad match for me since i lack a lot of options on wakeup that others have to get out of those sticky situations. my goal was to zone the hell out of you and if i could frustrate you the better cuase thats when you would make mistakes and from the looks of what you said, mission accomplished. i think with a little more experience with the matchup it wont be even remotely a problem. your geif is good, you have your wake-up shenanigans down good and you poke pretty damn well to boot. I agree with you that you should not have been doing unsafe green hands, i was lovin’ it everytime you threw out green hand at me up close. It was free ultra everytime. you did get a little predicable at the start of the rounds when you would wait a second move a bit then jump at me with hard punch. i didnt realize it was your pattern for a bit, once i did i started countering those. other than those 2 things you played the matchup pretty well. ggs.

Hey everyone im looking for anyone to play XBL Add me and invite me, anyone thats gonna say use the IRC thing is wrong because no one plays on XBL

ironman1478 vs martinrob

Ryu
an okay ryu that could be a lot better if you stopped fireballing all the time
i can understand you want to put pressure but sometimes you have to stop fireballing and either wait for your opponent to jump or become really offensive or you have to get more offensive. most of the time you just backpedal when you should jumping in and stuff. also you have to srk defensively more. sometimes i just jumped in and you did nothing but block.

GGs also sorry about the dc i had to do something important

lol :]

thanks for the input friend. I have an issue with anti-air, I just don’t do it. I think it’s a mix of poor reaction time in that area and forgetting I should be doing it.

It would have been useful for your reset > demonflip mix up :china:

more games later.

I was there on wednesday night, stayed 20 minutes, then it got too hot and I GTFO. I’ll PM you or something next time.

Tournament 2, loser’s bracket

Phatal PHD vs BEY Bass (dictator vs Akuma) 5-3 BEY Bass

ggs Phatal. Like I was saying on our mic chat, try to pressure more with lk scissors, especially in the corner. That should be lk scissors, standing hk all day. You also didn’t use a lot of crossups. Bison’s crossups is hella confusing, and you should use it more often. Great job teching most of my tic throw attempts. You had a tendency to teleport on wakeup even if I’m not attacking you. I still don’t know how to punish that, but I think a better player will. Also, try not to use c.hk unless it’s for spacing or to get under akuma’s fireballs otherwise. It’s very punishable (I demoned you once, and choken 3 other oppurtunities to demon). You used psycho crusher to punsih my air fireballs once, but never did it again, I’m not sure why.

As for me, I missed a ton far.hk to c.lk links, anda couple of hp srks after lk tatsu. Haven’t played in 5 days; that’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it.

Hope to play you again sometime and good luck in all your local tourneys.

EDIT:

Agree with Maple Maniac. WTF are the XBL people on the IRC channel? It’s always the same 4 or 5 faces.

to my surprise it is KellyKelly on irc. wtf happened there??!?!?!?! its fixed. so i guess you were right in giving that name but cause something random happened. lol.

Vs Final Goose
5-0 SNK

Vs. Rog

  1. Try staying at sweep range and start using his cr.:hk: to score a knockdown or standing :hp: to try and beat out some of my pokes.
  2. Work on your BnB’s a little bit, few times I got hit by a jab or two and nothing happened.
  3. Against certain character you can walk up cr.:lp: over and over for a quick pepper of punches and sneak a tick throw in there or two.
  4. Don’t use Tap punch, it’s god-awful, after a knock down make sure to dash punch in for some easy meter build.
  5. Rog is a great offensive character but remember you can also kick back and turtle it up in some situations.

Abel: Your stronger character by far.

  1. Gotta work on them Throw mix-ups, I’ll admit I fell for the :mk: dash but besides that you had a ton of chances to get them in there.
  2. If you’re pressuring for a throw-set up feel free to try and AA me with standing :mp: it’ll keep me grounded and allow you to keep the pressure up.
  3. Towards the end you started to roll, when your in trouble you need to get out of there. Ex-Roll or standard roll does just that.
  4. Abel has an amazing cross-up game since he has that command throw and all. Feel free after a knockdown to cross-up and apply some poke pressure and see how the opponent reacts.
  5. Take some time and review your match-ups so you pick up the dos and don’t of the fight at hand. The more you know the better of chances you’ll have to getting into someones head.

[EDITED]
Kyarisan(Chun, Akuma) vs Sabez30(Akuma) (14 games total, 10-4 kyarisan)

I understand that you are only recently picking up Akuma in SFIV, but you still have some habits that carry over from your Ryu play that need removed, such as panic uppercuts on wakeup and desperation ultras. Your panic uppercut shit might have worked for you as Ryu, because you have an enormous trade off into ultra if you can pull it off as AA, but with Akuma the risk of uppercut being baited or trading hits is almost never worth keeping it in your playstyle. Honestly man… you should already know this by now, but here’s why:

  • Akuma’s LP DP has a ton more recovery frames than Ryu’s, and therefore much easier to punish with any desired BnB, hell even a lv2 FA
  • Akuma’s DP FADC followup of HP shaku is much less than Ryu’s ultra followup, which makes the reward far less
  • Akuma’s stamina being 150 less than Ryu’s makes the risk far greater
  • Akuma has a fucking teleport! The hell are you worried about man?

In other words, don’t fucking do it ever. Your meter (if you would actually cause a DP block… a lot of times you totally whiffed) would be better spent on offensive LP DP FADC’s in blockstrings, fireball FADC’s in blockstrings, or just some of your EX moves (Akuma’s EX moves are great). But you never even FADC’ed your wakeup SRK’s on block, so whatever.

As far as your panic ultras go - they’re not extremely punishable, but once your opponent knows that it is the only way in which you know how to use ultra, they will bait it (and I baited it at least twice). In short, your Akuma felt kinda scrubby. You can do his LK tatsu into SRK with consistency, but nobody gives a shit. Remove these two habits from your game by the next time you accept a challenge from me.

well, that’s your new nickname
