SRK Training Team (XBL)

Maybe you need to be less modest, because I thought you were quite good. You just need to throw more, lol.

Vs. RingoRed
GG’s the other day in are sets use cr. fp more on jump in’s and bnb’s and work or tech grab set up’s with rog gg’s until next time

REALLY looking for friends on Live to train with!!! Please add me guys! =] Here’s my info:

XBL Gamertag: Th3 Greench
Location: CA
Headset: Yes, but don’t use it on SF
Record Matches: NoG
Dedication: Building up to tournament WINNING level skill
Characters: (main) Ryu, for now. Just switched from Zangief. (alts) Kind of all over the place atm, just focusing on Ryu.
Strengths: Zoning, pressure, execution
Weaknesses: Getting out of crossup mixups, lack matchup practice against less popular characters
Characters Good VS: Characters with trouble escaping wake up crossups
Characters Bad VS: Blanka, Zangief.
What I Need to Practice: Getting out of crossup mixups, maybe not focusing so much.

Round 2 Tourney Match
reelsmartkid vs vaccant1 (5-0 reelsmartkid)

balrog mirror! lol i hate this match soooo much. its just a big turtle fest. but anyways you rarely landed jab jab headbutt so work on that. and you didnt tech any of my throws work on that. you didnt AA me so work on that. you would sit on full meter and not use ex or super not sure what that was about. so basically spennd time in training mode to get the bnb’s down. and uhhh AA more. now with the rufus matchup you seemed unfamiliar you pretty much just mashed jab like crazy when i was on the offense. thats not gonna help. jump back fierce rapes rufus dive kick shennanigins. but other than that ggs!

ft5 BEY Bass vs skemar007
Akuma vs Balrog

I hate this matchup, and if you had used c.fierce more to AA you probably would’ve won a couple of the closer rounds. You missed a few of your BnBs but I’ll attribute that and my missed links to the 2-bar connection we had. I think you missed a couple of overhead, c.lp, headbutt combos early on but you got them at the end. You need towork on your wakeup game. I walked up and threw you tons of times. You could’ve teched, back-dashed, ex-headbutted, ex dashed (anything with invincibility). You layed a couple of nice corner traps that I couldn’t get out of, kept teleporting into the corner :frowning: or worse ex-srking instead of teleport :frowning:

ggs man, and good luck on your way to evo!

Vs Aboffman

Vs.Boxer
2. You gave away too much free Damage when after linking one cr.:lp: that shit is really deadly because you can link into anything from his arsenal.
3. Try working on Counter hitting my Whiff’s. It’s a nice knock down with Cr.:hk: or standing :hk: is really nice if I miss something since it comes out so fast.
4. Try peppering people with Cr.:lp:'s and add a bit of pressure from throwing or just blocking and wait for them to react so you can punish.
5. After every Headbutt you land make sure you close in with Charge :lp: for free meter.
6. Spend some time in training mode and digest rog’s attack range a little bit. It’s a bit part of his game and will greatly help out.
7. More Throw Pressure… Even if you don’t want to throw season someone into Teching and then punish with a nice BnB.
8. When you’re jumping back :hk: is your friend. It’s really meaty and beats out a ton of shit in the air.
9. Try not to TAP so much, it really isn’t all that it’s hyped to be in this game. I’ve seen a few players when going into a generic Bnb hold down all kicks when the headbutt comes out so they can Tap/Charge punch for good meter.

And that’s all I have for now. GG’s.

Vs. Vaccant1 (Boxer)

This matchup is hard for me cause normally when i play against a rog i tend to be the one on the offensive but it’s hard for me to do cause honestly seeing another rog i don’t know what to expect. One thing i noticed is spam those jabs if someone is up close no matter what character you’re playing against. This way you’ll push them back a bit. Add a cr. mp and cr. mk for extra support and mixup poke. Another thing is both u and me have to practice execution, when u see that random headbutt u can sit back and execute clean. Other than that you’re on the right path you played patient and thats whats good you rushed in when you were suppose to and made sure i didn’t get any free hits.

Vs. SpiralAu (Dictator)

I’m weak in this matchup as well you have the bnb that dictator can use on the fly. You did good by running away when i pinned u down in the corner which is perfect and pretty much turned the whole match around by making it a guessing game. When u rushed it was mean and definitely practice that. You got me guessing on whether or not you were gonna throw and one match i remember you threw me the whole match. If you can throw a lil more headstomps in that game it would be scary cause i was anticipating it alot but you kept cool and just threw me to death. Other than that i can’t really say much but try not to use the slide alot, one being i was trying to get a ex headbutt everytime u did it but my execution is off so beware always when rog has a meter. But ggs man.

Vs. JuicyMackin (Akuma)

Mack!! What’s up with the aggresive play all the sudden? More of that son! Pretty much you already know what i’m gonna say. But i’ll say it again…RUN fireball fireball fireball i’m telling you it works! lol oh and cr.mk pokes!

All three of you guys i hope to play you guys again theres alot more i can say but i can tell u guys that on irc. Peace!

vs OoKiLLaKeLLyoO

Dude your Gouken is so solid! I really don’t know that matchup at all, so you totally had my number there. Your execution seemed to be spot on all the time, I’m pretty sure you didn’t miss a single combo in any of the 10 games we played. Your baiting skills were amazing as well and I fell for a lot of your tricks pretty consistently.
Also, good use of the focus attack. I havent played a lot of players that have quick enough reactions to absorb some of the stuff that you did, so good work there.
Like I said, I really don’t know Gouken that well, so there is not a lot of advice that I can give you. Keep up the good work, and I am definitely looking forward to playing again.

**Vs. kyarisan **
Nice Chun Li, I would say one of the better ones I played recently. I would say your reversal EX spinning bird kicks might be too predictable. Good ultra traps. I forgot how many times I fell into your Ultra trap by blocking my blanka balls. Good throws too. I think I could tech some of them if the connection was better. I really had some trouble teching some of the throws even when I was spamming throw. I guess we live too far from each other (CA and IN). Anyway, very nice games.

I added some of you guys so if you guys can accept that would be great. we can get some games in

vs. tyrone kupples
We both played Bison and his is better. He could use Ultra and combos more efficiently than I can.

If anything, I would say he may need to tech throws better (I need to work on that too, seriously) and maybe block low more often because we know Bison does not have any overheads.

vs RingoRed

ggs. your balrog is pretty good. there are some things you can work on though. one is predictability. the reason my focus was working so much was because most of the time i knew you were going to do non-armor breaking moves. you seemed to favor the low hitting dash punch the most. as we progressed you started to incorporate them into your game for a little while which was good. i just think you should mix it up more. i could kind of tell you didnt know the matchup very well based on how you were attacking. Balrog needs to be aggressive against gouken, that jab is a nightmare for me, get in my face and stay there. i know you started out aggressive but halfway through our set you changed it up and stayed away. I think you thought it would help, to make me come after you. which i did in the first round you did that, and the second and on i stayed away, because thats actually what i want, for you to be away from me. do not do rush punches from FS away, i can throw them on reaction or ultra them. after i baited your TAP one time you basically threw it out of your game all together, while i dont think that was the best choice, it was good for you to not fall for that setup again. im not a heavy rog player so i dont know if dropping it from your game is a bad idea or not. every time you had ultra and hit me with a headbutt you tacked on ultra, good stuff there. Another thing i noticed, you liked to jump a lot, its been my experience that most good rogs do not jump very much, since you jumped so much i was able to catch you with air fbs and if i would have judged the space better i would have hit that ultra i did when you jumped. The reason i did it was because i knew you were going to jump over my fb cause u didnt want to do tap. the best course of action at that distance would have been to ex-rush punch, any one of them would have hit me due to our distance and my fb recovery time(maybe not the over head though). keep that in mind for next time and in general for that matter. i wanna ask you something, those times when i did meaty dive kick on your wake-up and it hit, were you trying to headbutt or were you just not blocking it. I asked cause i have been told it will stuff headbutt if its done right. I want to know if i was doing it right or not. Thats about it man, ggs and see ya next time.

Vs Maple Maniac

You had a really solid Ryu. You had good zoning and spacing skills. You had a very good mix up game, especially when I was down in the corner. You hit hard when you had the chance and SRK>FADC>ULTRA at every opportunity which was really nice to see from a Ryu player.

The only thing I would say for you to work on is maybe your block strings and maybe some more harder hitting linking moves.

I wish my Ryu was better so you could have really tested yourself and my feedback could be more indepth. Your level is the one I hope to reach soon with the help of these matches.

GG’s!

vs DisBChance

Amazing Balrog, seriously. You have the combos and connects to ultra/super down to a science. Very dangerous when you would catch me in a corner. I had to try mixing it up with deathstomps and noticed that a less defensive approach would give me a better chance. I think if i teleported more it would have given me a better chance to get out from corners, but i’m still getting used to the stick and sometimes get nervous when i’m stuck in corner.

vs newbkills
Very strong Ryu, i think with the right opponent you can continue those jump kicks, but against others it won’t work as well. Just overall good game, maybe work a bit more on tech throws and tick or fadc throws. I noticed I was able to get a good jump kick in against you if i timed it right, and maybe your AA > FADC > Ultra has to be perfect, because i noticed against the really upper tier Ryu’s i can rarely get a jump in without getting a DP > FADC > ultra punishment. Of course, now that i think about it, i should probably refrain from jumping once i see that ultra on your side :). GGs.

vs Final Goose
Abel
I think I was able to get a good understanding of Abel, as that was my first real time facing a good Abel player. You have a good crossup combo to super, and you play a good command grab game, but i think you need to work mostly on a bit more defense, AA. I think there were definitely some times when I was able to mix in throws and sometimes when your offensive approach gave me alot of opportunities that wouldn’t have occurred if you just paced it just a little. Good with pokes too, and I’m lookin’ forward to playing you again cuz you’re good wit him, I just need to adapt to fighting Abel, still new to me.

Balrog
Excellent Balrog game, i didn’t have much of an answer until much later, and then you adapted to my answer by mixing up your game. Good throws and jabs, i guess i should’ve been trying to punish those jabs more, but overall you kept me exactly where you wanted me to be, and once in a corner, with Ken, i had no real shot.

Your other chars i didn’t play against long enough to know if i could’ve adapted quickly enough to win or to throw you off, but you’re a fearsome Abel/Balrog player, and I definitely want to give you some more challenge with my Ken/Dictator.

vs Kyroc4Ever
GG’s. You have no idea how frustrated I was from getting hit by those jump ins. I SRK’d almost everytime, lol. I figured, if it’s too laggy for me to reaction SRK, it’s gotta be too laggy for you too and I started jumping like a mad man.

  1. You used jump in’s very frequently to close space or to advance. Pretty predictably, too. ie: usually after i cr.mk hado, you jump, etc.
  2. AA more. Once I tried out my jump in theory and you didn’t AA that much, I kept jumping in. You Ryu must be respected for you to play properly. If you don’t AA well, it’ll be harder to play your ground game.
  3. Tick throws. You rarely used them. I saw it like 2 or 3 times tops. Ken’s kara throw is also insane and a great mixup. Learn to use it.
  4. Wake up pressure. Pressure me more after a knockdown. Cross me up, meaty jump-in, walk up throw, walk up do nothing (bait), walk up cr.lk, cr.lp into BnB.

Vs

SoleAssassin10

You were a good Ryu too man, your getting there just dont quit!

Please don’t flatter me because i am easily beaten by Turtle’s i cannot beat them no matter what its very hard and thats what i need to work on.

Along with that i need better plays vs different match up’s im pretty familiar with Shodo’s and such but i need to get more in depth vs Charge characters and get better vs turtles or “defensive” play which i also consider turtling. I’ll admit i tend to at times but i do my best to come close to people and rush them down instead of waiting 24 7, i just get bored and mess up alot. I can be paitent but i just can wait all the time for them.

Next on the list is the reason i don’t use block strings to much is because people tend to… spam DP’s in my block strings alot and it hits me for a great! Firce DP, FADC, Ultra. Which I hate! I do have to learn better hitting combo’s but i tend to just slowly kill people due to if i mess up a DP combo link i get owned and punished. Though I thank you for your comments and all, sorry for the late reply but if you want to play more just send me an invite! Ill love to see your progress overtime!

I’m online Xbox360 right now looking for a good boxer to spar with. I need some practice against him. Send me an invite if anyone wants to play. I’ll take any other match up as well, if no boxer is available. Thanks

please use the irc chat for matches i think they want the thread for reviews and signups, if you can wait i’ll spar with you later tonight just add me.

Rufus
-I had a real problem with your dive kick pressure
-You AA’d really well
-I felt that you might have been a bit over aggresive at times.
-When you were pressuring me with rufus i thought you could have mixed in more throws.
Next time i will record our matches

Balrog
-you dash ultra a couple of my fireballs
-your throw game gave me trouble
-i had a really hard time when you played aggresively with Balrog.

vs. DaMoney21
you played as akuma and ryu, you had the same weaknesses with both. we talked on mics when we were playing and we basically covered everything.
-when i would make a mistake you would punish with something simple like a sweep or a throw. you need to practice your punish combos.
-work on your AA’s, if not srk, then c.hp, or whatever.
-practice your execution, i am in the same boat as you here. also dont be afraid to try and use the combos you practice in a game instead of going for guaranteed damage. i have been doing that more and more and it is really helping.
gg’s though and we will have to do it again.

Okay.

There’s like 3 different threads like this, so it gets confusing, which one is for what.

I may be online later. I’ll send the friend request.
