Oh wow, I didn’t know we had a photographer thread. I’m so in on this. I just got a D80 like a month or so ago, along with a 18-200 VR. It’s oh so nice. Wish I had a D200 Bullet Tooth. =D

Thanks for the comments guys. Everytime I go to IB I end up going in the water…?? So I never take my camera. I prolly should head out there and snap some stuff.

La jolla is a place where I always see a ton of photographers usually after the seals.

Thanks to all those that have kept this alive. I’ve been wanting to bump this thread, but I didn’t have any pictures. I finally got my flickr account going again so I’ll be contributing regularly.

Anyway I’ve decided to start shooting at my local fair grounds whenever something is happening no matter how lame it seems and the first thing to roll around… a dog show.

These photos are from a contest a few years ago in Texas. Shot with a Sony Cybershot 5.1, tried to set the settings for indoors with not too much lighting. Even to this day I’m happy with the shots I got from an alright point and shoot digi camera.

do any of you guys travel much? im going on a trip out of the country and want to bring my dslr and some gear with me, but ive never done that before. just wondering if anyone knows the process.

could i bring my camera as a carry-on on a plane?
will metal detectors mess up my camera?
etc.

thought i’d ask for more recommendations - you guys have favorite photography magazines that you subscribe to?

i have had popular photography for about 2 years and im quite happy with it.
I also have rangefinder but that one is free so its full of advertisements. I like it and still get it because they usually have some very good articles on techniques and equipment review. it also a professionals magazine so i like looking at the purty picchures.
