Military themed characters are always cool and are a pretty common archetype in fighting games.
Also Iori is the biggest emo of them all…
- What kind of character design do you like the most usually? (poll)
I don’t really like any particular design the most, they are all great and unique when they are executed correctly, that being said, I normally pick any kind of design that is not always thesame in each game (Chun li, Yun, Akuma, Alex and Q in 3S; Faust, I-No, Slayer and Potemkin in GGXXAC; Roll and Casshern in TvC; Fulgore and Cinder in KI; King, Dragunov, Julia and Bryan in Tekken games; Rachel, Noel and Hakumen and Bang in BB and more examples in other games) as you can see I pick different kinds of designs, from the “Typical Hero” to the “Fighting Gal” (as how it’s pointed in the Poll) touching every type in the poll. After saying all this, I have to choose “Other”.
- Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
All games have some female characters, but If I have to choose a specific game, then I will go with KoF since they have a good variety of personalities in the characters.
- Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
Like I said with the female, every game has at least one good male character, but I have to say JoJo in this ocassion, maybe I have not played the game a lot, but I know the characters via Manga and I know how interesting and likeable they all are.
- Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
Not really, is not always something that matters in my mind to decide to pick a game or not, although is always a nice touch that there is a certain character that has some characteristics that I like.
-
Fighting Gal when handled seriously, whichever character seems really pumped for the sake of it (tends to be hero but more somebody like Kim, Fei Long or Ralph doing their own thing), (second fiddles tl;dr after here) psychotic bastards, jackass/douchebag characters like Brad as mentioned and maybe Axl, and military.
-
KOF- there are some that are more on the bubbly end than I prefer but when they’re good, they’re good.
-
KOF- don’t so much prefer these guys expressly over ones from other series’ but stylish dudes aren’t hard to find to me here.
-
More than I’d like to admit. I can waste a lot of time in training mode doing meaningless shit just to fool around with characters and see how their (very) basic plan flows if I like their design.
Really? Because Bison sure likes to smile a lot and make quips about killing fathers and doing it on Tuesdays.
Forget just fighting games. He’s one of my favorite video game villains of all time.
- The trap
- Guilty Gear, cause they’re all pretty hardcore.
- Fatal Fury, cause they’re all fun.
- Yeah, it’s what got me into fighters in the 1st place.
But only because of his dark and tragic past. :9
What about ‘weird’ characters that are amorphous/contort their bodies like Arakune and Zappa? Those are definitely my favorite type, though they’re not too common.
Dang Lobelia, we think very similarly. D: Agreed completely. Scary
As for me, I voted on “Other” in the poll because I recently found out there is a pattern shared by all my characters: They are all metros. I never noticed this, I just found their playstyles appealing to me. Then one day a friend pointed out this strange… coincidence.
Vega (SF), Raphael (SC), Lion Rafale (VF), Hwoarang and Lee (Tekken)
The psychotic or oddball characters I find the most entertaining, though I play more based on play style than anything else. But for design… ABA, Faust, Orochi Leona, (SFEX3) Vega[claw], etc.
GG:XX: AC+, Millia, Justice, ABA, I-no, all of them are pretty aggressive designs that I like with more than just a hint of homicidal maniac.
Unsure. There are a few games with interesting design choices! BB currently has my favorite with Arakune. I like a lot of GG characters, some KoF, and some various others as well.
Game play is all that really matters, if a character design is really good it’s definitely a good way to entice me to play the game in the first place though!
Crimson Viper isn’t a slut in any way, shape, or form.
She shows skin. Oh no. So do Gill, Zangief, Urien, Sagat, Dhalsim, Necro, Adon, and Fei Long.
Shermie isn’t a slut, either. Neither is Vice. WTF.
^I was going to say. lol.
If anything, the “slut” category is really missing its representative character - Morrigan.
-
As for series overall: Guilty Gear. Daisuke has a way with those markers of his.
Specific type? I picked “other” for badass non-main characters. Example: Hakumen. -
Guilty Gear. All the ladies in GG sufficiently threatening/lovable in their own ways.
-
Blazblue. Ragna’s an interesting main hero. Jin’s crazy. BANG IS MANLY. And, of course THE GODDAMN HAKUMEN.
-
Very yes. Who wants to use someone who’s boring? Or lack impact.
None of these do it on such a blatantly intentional, distinctly sexualized manner, though. Well, maybe Urien/Gill do, since they’re meant to be modeled after greek gods (and their cultural depictions are taken as ideals of male beauty even today), but you cannot possibly compare the way Adon or Zangief show skin to the way Viper does.
The KOF series has much better examples of “slut” guys. SF is sexist lolol
Apart from the giant box in her pants…
Designs are important for me.
I like male characters. specially black ones lol, and old geezers.
- What kind of character design do you like the most usually? (poll)
I picked on the poll the" emo ***" because even though I pick chunli exclusively in every game she’s in, in other games I tend to lean toward the metro sexual archetype. I guess its cuz im female and Im doing what the guys are doing, picking characters that are sexually attractive to me
- Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
This is tough, but I would say SF and GG. Like others have said, I want my female characters to look capable and confident.
- Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
I would say Tekken, but thats because I find most of the guys up there very attractive, lol. Also they have varied backgrounds and a good level of masculinity
- Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
Yeah, and I think that’s because Im an artist. That’s why Im having a hard time getting into blazblue. The only character im interested in is Taokaka, but she doesnt fit my playstyle at all, so Im having no fun in that game
1: Fat guys come first. A close second are the bloodthirsty types (i.e. Bulleta, Yamazaki, Vice).
2: GG probably has the most varied cast of female characters, imho.
3: JoJo, for the same reason.
4: Ultimately no. If I just picked up a game I’ll naturally gravitate to who looks appealing unless I already know enough about the characters to make a decision. If it turns out that they aren’t good or don’t “fit” me then I’ll move on. Case in point, I really like Rufus’ design, but I hate his playstyle so I don’t bother to use him in serious matches.
I usually use the slut.
- Morrigan, Ivy, Voldo, Vice, Anna, Zafina. . .
I never really paid attention to it until now. Thanks.
seriously with all these girly games coming out snk could make the queen of fighters and be successful…
…and mai is a slut
