Viper really doesn’t do anything over-sexualized, either. She’s depicted as a responsible, no-nonsense, business woman more than a flirtatious, sex pot. Her win quotes are about money and her daughter. She doesn’t dance around like Anna Williams shaking her rear end and spanking Lee Chaolan…she doesn’t giggle and moan and stuff.
Literally, the ONLY thing remotely “slut-like”, is her partially exposed chest. And, the only reason that’s considered risque is because she’s female and BOOBZ R BAD. Cracker Jack wore the same thing in SFEX (open shirt with a tie), and no one called him a slut.
And, with side burns like his, I bet he was more of a slut than Viper.
Sluts and Badass chicks mostly. The two terms tend to be synonymous most of the time.
Tekken, There’s something there for everyone.
HnK, probably.
It’s a lot more important than I’m willing to give credit for. For instance, I tend to gravitate toward slutty FG girls because they usually look the most stylish.
Some of your examples are kinda weird. Noel, Athena, and Xiaoyu would be better examples for moe girl.
Whatever fighting game I go for, I am instantly attracted to the villainous types, be they male or female. Primary antagonists always get my attention. In the SF series, I was instantly attracted to Dictator and Claw from day one, then Urien in SF3 and now Seth and Juri in SF4.
Amakusa, Geese Howard, Quan Chi, Cervantes, Magneto, Jeddah, Pyron, Heihachi all receive honorable mentions. It must be something in my childhood, but I enjoy playing, being, rooting for the villains. (I’m really nice person by the way)
For me, an interesting cast of characters held together by some decent plot always gets me involved. The more freaky the cast the better, I’m writer and an artist so I enjoy such details to an odd degree.
What kind of character design do you like the most usually? (poll)
I picked the typical hero. Although gameplay and playstyle are far more important to me than character design, it’s the main characters of most fighting games that are usually the best balanced ones.
Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
This is a very tough question for me, since I rarely use female characters. I like female characters that are simultaneously feminine but also extremely tough fighters. Characters like Nina from Tekken and Chun Li from SF are tough fighters, but I don’t find them feminine enough. But other characters like SF’s Rose or KOF’s Mai are too feminine and not tough enough IMO. SC’s Ivy is a good example of what I mean. I don’t know if it’s the sword/whip weapon, or the white hair, or her “jigglies” :badboy:, but Ivy is my favorite female design. Overall female cast tho, goes to SF, followed closely by SC.
Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
Tekken without a doubt. A distant 2nd would be SF. My favorite male designs are the hard hitting types who are also a little psychologically f’d up. Bryan Fury and Heihachi Mishima are excellent examples. The most unappealing male designs IMO are the andros like Tekken’s Lee Chaolan or SF’s Claw.
Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
I main Ryu in SF, and he’s one of my fave characters of all time, so no, design is not as important as playstyle. But it is definitely important to have interesting character designs.
Tho Eagle is gay, his appearance is one of the toughest looking I’ve seen IMO.
If you ever see a guy like that in real life, watch what happens when you call him a “fairy”.
Arc System works guys (and girls) are not gods, indeed. They’re pretty cool people like you and me, who’s job is making video games.
(they enjoy partying and never say no to a couple of drinks after work!)
I just receives a mail from my friend who said that they are actually checking this thread, and thank you to all of you who replied!

I voted Ninja, because you can never have enough ninjas. And where’s the “oh god what is this i dont even” character like Ara, Faust, Zappa, K9999, et. al? And Jin is not a typical hero at all. For me though, it depends on the game.
For animu/donjon games the Bokkuko fightan girl.
For GG it was Slayer, Faust, Baiken and HOS
For SF it’s Chun, R.Mika, Hugo, Dudley, Ibuki
For KOF it was Kyo, Shingo, all of the New Faces, Angel, K9999, and Nagase.
For BB it’s Bang and Tao, with a little Ragna on the side.
I like characters that reference things from other fighting games, anime, music, what have you.
Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
Best as in the one I like the most or best as in most fappable? I like Guilty Gear’s the most because outside of the genki loli thing, they’re all pretty interesting characters in my opinion. Even the trap. The SC series is basically made for fap fodder IMO though, especially with the cheesecakey character edit systems in SCIV.
Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
I don’t know why, but I really like KOF’s male cast. They just look like relatively normal people who just happen to be fucking each other up for fun and/or profit.
Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
It gets me hype/antihype, but the gameplay is much more important than the looks.

I put Fighting Gal. I do like cute characters, but I also like cute characters who are good enough to seem like they can win. I guess the character i choose depends on the game and what’s available, but yeah…
I didn’t pick little moe girl either, cause I tend to like girls who are cute, but not like, over the top.
Which game has for you the best female cast, and why?
I would say Arcana Heart 2. A buncha people say it’s a pedo game and whatever, but I think there’s plenty of “cool” characters, and it’s not full of just loli’s. If you’re looking for a good girl character, I really feel like you’ll have a hard time not finding at least one that you like in AH2.
Which game has for you the best male cast, and why?
I think that the Soul Calibur series is the best for me. I don’t really use male characters, but I think that the males in that game are actually interesting and add a lot to the game, as opposed to just being the same old stereotypical designs. Tekken is also really good on this front too. I just think Namco does a great job with creating cool, likeable male characters.
Is the character design an important criteria for you when you decide to pick a game?
I tend to play who I like in games based off character design more than anything else. If there’s no character I like in a game, I have a hard time gaining motivation to want to learn it (like Hokuto no Ken). And if a game has a character I REALLY like, then I’ll probably just stick to that character through thick and thin. Sometimes I don’t realize who I really like until I play for a while, but I feel like I have a hard time playing and enjoying my character if I don’t even like the character. This goes for male characters I use too, but mostly I use female characters for that reason. Somehow, playing the character that stands out to me the most, and that I like the most, and doing well with that character makes me feel really happy for some reason. Like “I like this character the best AND this is my best character.” It seems to work out a lot where the character whose design i just happen to like becomes my main and works really well with it. It’s actually in games where I have a hard time deciding, where no one character sticks out to me that I have a hard time gaining motivation.
If I don’t like a character it makes me much less motivated to practice and play the game, so picking someone I like is always better than just picking someone good. I probably pick based on about 60% visual style, 40% playstyle.
Best female cast: Melty Blood has a lot of fun female characters, as does Arcana Heart (duh). They have a number of little girls that are weird/robots/etc, and have much higher ratio of female to male characters than most games so there are a lot more to choose from.
Best Male Cast: Guilty Gear. I generally have a hard time finding more than one or two male characters that I like in games but there are a lot in GG. I guess you could say that everyone in that game is a “weird” character to some degree so that appeals to me.
I really like characters with guns, cable, anonym, saki are good. I like the guns to actually shoot, not the blazblue version where they are melee weapons. I was excited about noel until I saw her in game. Guns are not clubs.
If not guns then another weapon would do. I love the cast from samurai showdown, but I don’t like how the game plays.
From what limited options you gave me I fall into the typical hero category. I always like a well rounded character who can dish big damage and has reliable AA’s and good pressure with a decent mixup game. Case in point being Kyo/K’/Sol/Ryu. I cannot believe you didn’t add an anti-hero category as well. I like characters like Akuma for the tools he has. Gato/Geese/Oswald/Yamazaki are also great characters because of the tools they have as well.
King of Fighters, KOF has the most amount of characters I hate but the most amount that I like. Angel is sexy and has a great fighting style. King uses Muay Thai and has exactly what I look for in a character. Elizabeth is hot.
King of Fighters. Pretty damn diverse group SNK has there. Plus a lot of fire wielders too. I happen to play K’/Kyo/Nameless and a bit of Iori and Orochi Chris. You also get characters like Gato, Oswald, Shen, Yashiro, Geese, Yamazaki, and Robert.
Yeah. I can’t play I character I can’t stand. If I think a character looks like crap I don’t play them. The two things I notice when I play a character are A)What they look like and B)What they fight like. Oswald is a damn cool looking character but when I played him I found that I really liked how he plays.
Gato was another. At first I avoided him because of mass tier whoring but one day I tried him out. he reminded me of Akuma but with a stone jaw. He was fast, strong pokes, great mixup and pressure.
I generally have a knack for picking the odd ball characters but it really depends what game it is, if not I’ll probably just pick the slut…
Rival Schools, while it did seem to be a tad bit cheesy Capcom still put a lot of originality in this cast females, ranging from a Biker Chick (Akira) to a girl who fights with volleyballs (Natsu) to hot teacher (Kyoko) and the cheerleader (Tiffany) and a few others, and while they’re weren’t that many female characters in this game to begin with that didn’t change the fact that they made the game all the more fun…
KOF, they have a plethora of male characters spanned across different fighting styles, story relations, and some of them just look damn cool, oh yeah and they have some of (if not the best) grappler characters out there such as Daimon, Clark, O. Yashiro etc…
Not really, I buy all fighting games just to support they’re scene, but in terms of choosing a main that’s kind of a key factor for me, ranging from attitude, to moves (playstyles), to winning quotes, hell even dress code, you can call me picky I guess …
