I have a theory. It’s either correct or the biggest piece of Jesus Toast I’ve ever eaten. I think GR and CoJones are the mafia. GR’s the mastermind, and CJ is a trusted associate. Not sure who selected who. Since GR has posted more, most of my analysis reflects on him and he is actually my #1 suspect right now, over CJ. Three main points to make.
Reading GR’s posts again, he’s all in on CJ, but generally has the attitude of “hey, he’s at the top of my list, but if you guys want to lynch somebody else, I’ll do that instead.” That enables him to look like he’s thinking independently and contributing, but also not sticking his neck out to go after people. A solid choice, to blend in. And since his target of choice has been CJ, should he end up getting lynched and revealed as mafia, suspicion will be averted from CJ. Likewise if CJ is lynched and comes up mafia… GR gets to say “I TOLD YOU SO” in the thread and look clean.
Splitting up the posts to avoid moderation concerns.
Here, Co-Jones is mentioning suspicion on GR while actually voting BD.
To be fair, Co-Jones actually does follow through on his vote for GR. But, he knows GR won’t actually go down because other lynch targets are getting more attention.
At the same time that he’s cleverly distanced himself from his mafia ally, he’s also forged a bond with one of our strongest civ players. With no false modesty, I’m talking about myself. I’m not saying I’m da bess, just reasonably strong. As others have referenced, I got all-star votes despite having only played in one game before. So, I at least have a reputation for being competent, if not actually an all-star. If GR looks buddy-buddy with me, and then he gets lynched as mafia, there is a chance I would then go down as well. Then we lose one of our strongest civs in the hunt for the last mafia. Also, if this is true, it makes sense that I haven’t been targeted at night yet… part of that might also be that there have been better targets on previous nights (e.g., Synonym), and the mafia have been role hunting (successfully). But also, if I stay in the game untargeted by mafia, and GR dies as mafia, and we looked like we were friends, I’d be toast. Even now on page 12, I ask him to do some research, and he gladly abides. Best buds 4eva.
Here’s GR getting a little buddy-buddy with me. You’ll note he mentions something which was inaccurate about me at this point, which he is called out on. Have a look at this:
And his answer could not be more buddy-buddy towards me:
GR has also done a good job of posting lighthearted comments in the thread to keep spirits up. He’s done such a good job that I actually kind of feel bad casting suspicion on him. But when I step back for a second, that actually gives me some more confidence–he really could be the mafia mastermind, manipulating our emotions to ensure his survival.
OK, that’s it. GR, if you end up clean I really am sorry, for you’ve presented yourself as a stand-up guy.
@Pietastic
You have very good points. First argument against me that I can summarize without saying “But BullDancer that he was Mafia!”. Here’s my defence:
Point 1: I can’t defend myself here. The only way to disprove this is to say Co-Jones is Civ, and I’m not going to do that anytime soon, unless he can somehow convince me himself. This point stands.
Point 2: You are a very good player, but if I were Mafia, I would try to lynch you because of that. As a good player, you would be protected by the Medic a lot, so lynching you would be the only other option. I know this argument is weak, bu tit’s all I got.
Point 3: I play that way in every game. There’s nothing new there.
